Lawrence and Woods are Blues in Waiting

Wests Tigers centre Chris Lawrence and prop Aaron Woods have been chosen in the 2013 NSW Blues In Waiting Camp.

Lawrence and Woods have both attended the camp previously but it will be the first time under new NSW Coach Laurie Daley. Both have come close to representing the Blues. Lawrence has represented City Origin and Australia while Woods played City Origin and represented the Australian Prime Minister’s XIII team in Papua New Guinea in September.

The camp will be held in Sydney from Friday, January 18 to Sunday, January 20.

“The emphasis of this camp is on what it takes to become a successful Origin player and team member and learning about the values and trademarks that I want the NSW team to adopt,’’ Daley said.

“The camp will include Origin history, individual positional session, team drills and full rehabilitation and recovery for players over the weekend.”

My side for 2013 SOO so far, not throwing in too many rookies at once in an Origin game.

Am I the only one the only one that thinks that Lawrence needs to improve dramatically before he is considered for the blues…
Every year there is talk of him making the side,
I know he has potential to be a great player, but he needs to be consistent for the west tigers prior to even making the city side...

In my opinion he should have already played for NSW. Injuries have hit him at the wrong time for a number of seasons. Lawrence at his best and injury free is in my opinion in the top 5 centres in the NRL.

At his peak he is a fantastic hole runner, can put his outside man away and is a strong defender. I for one hope he reagins his best from in 2013 and if he does he would go close to making the NSW side.

Back to the original list, when does Marika become available to play for NSW? I can see both NSW wingers being Fijians in the near future with Uate on one wing and Marika on the other.

So sick of Lawrence around the blues squad. He won't get a game in the centres for them over Jennings/Morris. Even Fergusson/Croker are closer/favoured over him in the blues camp.

Every year it's the same story but unless he scores a bag full in the early rounds I don't think Rowdy will get the call.

Woods will come off the bench 100%

There's no way Croker would be preferred over Lawrence.
There's some dud players in that squad too.

Croker is deceptively quick plus kicks goals. he almost got the nod last year after jennings was hurt playing for the panthers between games 1 and 2.

Personally I think Lawrence is miles ahead of Croker in potential but I'm not a blues selector

croker is a very poor defender and has a high error rate.
he is aware of it and has put a lot of time in the off season watching videos to improve his defense reads. he is a mile away from rep footy.
Lawrence at his best is clearly a rep player. last year at times he was below his best

I don't think Lawrence will feature unless there is an injury. Woods is a decent, as one of the big problems with the Blues in 2012 was too many back rowers and too few props. He is a chance to come in for T-Rex or Beau Scott.

I think the likes of Stewart, Wotmough and Bird are nearing an end as Origin s getting fater and faster. I would love to see Feleti Mateo, Adam Reynolds in the squad.
Tony Williams will be massive this year back under Dessy Hasler.

1\. J. Dugan

18\. Merrin?

Are you high?

Woods maybe but Lawrence would have to pull out some good games. He has promised so much but never really delivered IMO.
