Lawrence & Idris

Jamal will come good in the centres just need to persist with him there as he is still getting his match fitness. Yes he got burnt for speed once or twice yesterday by Jennings but apart from that he had a great game. Especially defensively

He's improving every week

Just a side note, isn't it great to not have to worry about Lovett in the 17 any more?
But on topic, I'd keep them where they are, but look at swapping Chee-Kam and Aloiai around. Lawrence isn't a centre any more but I think he's earning his money in the back row, definitely more effective hitting it up than Grant, and occasionally Woodsy.

Sorry did you say Lawrence is better at reading in defence . Ummm no thay is soo wrong im surprised you have watched either of them play. One of Jamals real strengths and the reason we are controlling that side much better desoute Jamal still being a little slow is because he is one of the better defending centres in the comp in both tackling and reading. Idirs needs work on his fitness but the club and JT previously said he wont be up to fitness until 2nd half of the season. What we need is more structure work oh abd kev is horrible so mayby chee kam to centre Suli back to wing and Kev gone

All the attackers have to do most times to beat Indris , is to not run straight at him. And once they're past him it's goodnight , as Idris couldn't catch my dear departed grandmother from behind
Too slow for a centre and too unfit for the forwards. ( despite Taylor wrapping him at every chance before the season started)
Then again, by our standard of fitness, he probably was looking ok,

We have no quality starting edge back rowers or centres that would start for any top 8 team.
Idris, Kev, Lawrence, Aloai?
Sharks Graham, Lewis, Bird, Leutele.
Raiders Papali, whitehead, Leilua, Crocker.
Broncos Gillette, Thaiday, Roberts, Moga
Cowboys Lowe, Hess, O'Neil, Linett
Dragons Thompson, Frizelle, Lafai, Aitken

The list goes on we are deficient in the most defensively important area of the field these days.

A witch's hat would be more effective at centre than Lawrence.

The witchs hat has already been moved from center to wing and he is equally as poor in defence at both positions

Could Idris be an impact player?

Either way the backline defence problems need to be sorted, but when they change people it won't work out. It seems the best defensive sides either have a lot of big guys (i.e. Cowboys, Cronulla) or just play together like a Glove (Melbourne previously Brisbane). We don't have the size so the guys need to get their defensive movements right and be able to trust that their team mates can cover their position.

Ripping the bandaid off is going to kill us for 6 rounds at least. DO IT NOW, fire who we need to fire and get a solid defensive backline.

The back 4 is a mess. No cohesion defensively. Nofoaluma is in a world of his own defensively idris and suli are too slow laterally. Massively exposed on the edges at the moment. I'm sure Ivan knows this but there isn't much he can do this year about it. Missing whare was massive but I'm also hearing Penrith are gonna have some massive cap issues and may have to shed players anyways.

I'm glad we missed out on Whare TBH, he has been very very ordinary indeed this season…..hopefully we snag someone better than him for 2018 and beyond.
