Lawrence...Squeezed Out...

I doubt there is any substantial evidence behind this… He's just putting 2 and 2 together. Story of the week: Simona re signs- thought process: signing one means letting go of anothe- who's the other guy and what's his status? BINGO IVE FOUND MY STORY!

This is exactly what I think as well.

Still Lawrence is a borderline first grader for us at the moment. I love the guy but we have to start paying him what he is worth to us and he has to earn his spot in the first grade team. The ESL might be the best option for him.

Bahaha from lurker…Means he will re-sign on a 5 year deal.

Wow …

Wonder how much Simona cost ??

The rumours were that we would lose Simona because we had no cap room, now we signed him it makes sense to see Lawrence or another name being moved on to accommodate Tim.

I don't see this as an automatic assumption that we are now paying Simona a massive packet.

Lol didn't this guy say Simona was long odds of staying like 3 days before he resigned?

If Rowdy goes I wouldn't want to be paying any of his contract….I thought we were past that crap...

Tygertye nails it for me....great post...

I may be wrong, but I thought money we contribute towards an ESL contract doesn't count towards our cap?

We now have phil miss im charge of the cap side of things etc.

We wouldn't be putting ourselves into trouble, with out ways out already planned.

Lurker hears a whisper then turns that into a roar!

what if lawrence is on exorbitant sums? i think cost benefit would dictate we pay a little bit for him to go to england. it might not even have to come out of our cap, not 100% sure about how it works with SL teams versus nrl ones.

Yep and likewise i dont make the automatic assumption that our cap is tapped out. This club sometimes tells us what we want to hear or simply offers up excuses for incompetence.

Sure is!. This story is just made up to cover the definciencies of the other. Its lye after lye after lye. Chris Lawrence top bloke , top club man but paid way to much for his current ability. Sad to see where he has gone. I've finally lost hope. 😢

This is not something new,the club have been shopping Lawrence around for the past few years, firstly within the NRL and now the ESL. This is mainly due to the crazy contract Humpty and Sheens offered him. Okay yes his form has slipped since his horrendous injury, but he is still a handy player to have on your roster, but not a top marquee players salary. I think it's a very smart move if they can find home for him in the ESL even if they have to pay a percentage of his salary.

Of course it is all very hypothetical as nothing will happen if Lawrence decides he is going to see out his contract as he has a binding contract and ultimately it's his call.

I would say it does. I know when Eastwood came back to Australia, the Dogs wanted to pay out his ESL contract and the NRL told them it was going to be part of the cap. So Eastwood actually forked the money out himself. I'm sure the Dogs found an external TPA to funnel some money through to make up for it though.

The absolute best outcome for all involved for Chris to have 4 or 5 games back to back where he defends like a mad man speckled with the odd try.

This would see the whole discussion disappear and a Favourite son of ours remain where he belongs.

Good luck Chris, I'm still in your corner.

Unfortunately the injury to Simona could be really harmful to Lawrence's long term playing future at the Tigers. With Simona out, it's likely that Lawrence will now revert back to centre. The longer he plays at centre the longer he looks like he's not an NRL quality back.

Last match was the first time he'd been dropped to the bench ahead of his transition to the back row. Which is in reality his only bet for a future with us. If he were to smash it in the back row then there'd be no concerns about him. Now that experiment will likely be put on the back burner at least until Nofoaluma is fit.
