Lawrence to 5/8?

im pretty sure sheens did exactly that in 2012.

it worked out great then, so why not go again? :unamused:

Drinkwater has been fantastic since coming to the club so I definitely think its a no brainer to have him come into the halves for Moses.

5/8th is closer to a halfback than centre is to 5/8th.

Lawrence is a shocking 5/8\. I would rather play Galloway there.

Sheens the old fossil thought it was a genius move a few times.

I remember him one game kicking the ball half way up the Liechhardt hill, was just embarrassing.

This wont happen ever again i trust. It's scary to be reminded of it actually.

I hope this isn't something we are willing to try ever again.
Lawrence is average at best as a centre.
No chance @ 5/8.
Logical move would be Drinkwater…
Te Maire would be an exciting option as well, he's a machine.

You have to be joking! - Austin plays for Canberra and I don't think they'll let him play for us.

Moses is the best halves prospect in Rugby League IMO. He isn't going to be a Lewis or Lockyer overnight but he will be - only better. The point is, that Austin is lucky to be in first grade. He is a ball hog and that is why he was let go so easily.

I don't think its clear cut that Drinkwater will be a walk up start next week should Moses be on the sidelines. There could be the possibility that Lawrence could slot back into 6\. It would mean less interruptions and a nice reward for Lovett. That and the fact Drinkwater is a halfback, not a 5/8\. Lawrence was going to be the next Laurie Daley after all.

Thoughts?

Sheens was wrong…

Experimenting with Lawrence at 6 had some validity back when he was the kid no one could catch, but even then it didn't work out. You wouldn't consider it now. Not only has Lawrence lost speed and lateral movement, but here's no guarantee he'll even play next week. Sironen would be a better option if JT wants to go with experience, but I think our depth half will step up like he was signed to do.

I think Drinkwater is the most logical solution. He's had a strong pre-season, he's setting up tries well and his kicking game is excellent.

Is everyone forgetting Sitaleki? 😛

Drinkwater and Siro both been uses in halves in trials. Both would be ahead of Lawrence for a shot. Drinkwater deserves his chance should he get the call.

Why are we even contemplating this idea ?
It's absolutely ridiculous IMO

Hope you're having a laugh, mate.

Drinkwater was our best performing half in the trials… He deserves the five-eighth spot... And there's basically no difference in most teams between halfback and five-eighth. Drinkwater for mine.

No thanks. Would rather JT come out if retirement and fill in at 6\. Not much difference between 6 and 7 anyway so doubt it will have any real effect on drinkwaters performance.

Me too. At least JT can still catch and pass (I watched him participating in the warm up last night). Lawrence has hands like feet.

Drinkwater will walk into the side and he will add to our attack.
