Lazzo's game

Blake was out there tonight because of injuries to our first and second choice half backs. How many other teams could lose two halfbacks in five weeks and still have someone with Blake's potential to bring in? Everybody expected him to play NRL eventually, probably this year, but due to circumstances beyond anyone's control he has been **brought up months earlier than the club wanted**. We need to get behind him - he is our half back for the immediate future.

I think its quite a lot later actually

Not a great game by any means. He will take a lot out of the try saving tackle and will be a lot more focused in attack next week as all good players come back from a disappointing game. We will see what he is made of next week.

I must say, it does not help when you are forced to play multiple poistions on your debut….

For the record, I thought he was 'pushed' off the field by Leeds. Not a good look in my opinion. Mind you it is just the way I saw it, someone may have a differing view.

How can he really be judged considering how the game unfolded?

The boy can play. Lets give him a chance.

Shane Warne took 708 test wickets for Australia and is the greatest bowler of all time. Why I mention Warnie in this Blake Lazarus thread is because Warnie himself had an undistinguished Test debut, taking 1/150 (Ravi Shastri caught by Dean Jones for 206) off 45 overs, and recorded figures of 1/228 in his first Test series; he took 0/78 in the Fourth Test in Adelaide and was dropped for the Fifth Test on the pace-friendly WACA Ground in Perth. His poor form continued in the first innings against Sri Lanka at Colombo, in which he recorded 0/107.

This started to change thereafter as he got into the groove more of how the Great man, Alan Border wanted him to play.

Blake may never reach the Superstardom of Warnie, but he can play and will become a good 1st grade player.

I miss Moltzen soooo much!

Dropped balls, bad reads and he offered nothing

I know it was his first game and he played behind a beaten pack, but one thing was pretty clear from this game:

Moltzen–-->

---Daylight --->

-Lazzo

Kul = Ear Daylight Ear

:laughing: :laughing: :laughing:
good to see people are nibbling!

nah, I am excited about seeing him play in the 7\. Last night was a tough game and he did well under the circumstances.
will be my pick for 7

at this current point in time its clear that moltz is the best 7 option and he is gonna be missed terribly, but parra made a run to the grand final with mortimer hes a string bean himself, sheens just has to give lazzo a role to play not shift him to wing fullback centre all night.

hes got immense talent, he was just found out by a series of unforunate events in last nights game

He was being replaced and Leedsy got him off the field after the drop out to get Daniella on and in the defensive line

Baptism of fire wont hurt him, just needs to get back up on the horse….probably better than a cruisy debut, though thats debatable I guess

I liken Lazarus' performance to that of the entire Tigers team.

If you watched that one game you would think we were a very ordinary team - there is much improvement for both on that outing.

The one thing that really bugged the crap out of me about Lazarus' game was that when Robbie kicked the 40/20 (one of the best momentum turners in any game of RL) and the team were buzzing and high fiving ….. Lazarus went down with cramp and needed attention. The momentum stopped dead in its tracks. As a halfback, he needs to be getting down field and getting the play ready to go. You could see our team look around and wonder what was going on. It also gave the Bulldogs a rest and then a fresh defensive set. In this position he needs to toughen up and play through the pain barrier - even just to feed the scrum and then receive treatment. It is all experience though and i guess he will learn, but those are the little signs between being a class first grader or an also ran.

I am prepared to give the kid another chance, however i think he got too caught up in emotion and trying to impress people with running too much and then when that didn't work kicking early. Seemed as though he was playing for himself.

If you knew the coach's instructions to him, you would retract this statement..

Let's just say..Sheens gave him direct orders to run at certain Bulldogs players.
It was Tim's way to blood him into the contact of NRL.

Well im impressed.
However most here dont have access to players or sheens direct orders, so us plebs have to assume most of the time.
Its OK…we're sorry if its annoying.

In the first half Blake ran it on the last but it looked like he didn't know it was the last. He was second receiver and Benji was first receiver. There was nothing on. He needed to kick it. Just as he was getting tackled I think someone yelled out "last tackle" so he passed it out the back and the ball went 10 meters back along the ground. Every player in the team needs to count how many tackles the team has used up in the set of 6\. Especially the halfback.
