Least favorite player in the top squad

I am absolutely going to get smashed for saying this, but meh it's about my opinion.

On field I reckon Todd Payten is my least favourite tiger. Sometimes he doesn't seem interested to play, and now getting older his body doesn't hold up either. People say he is a halfback in a prop's body etc. but to me he isn't good enough to be either. I agree he has a very very smart footy brain and would go onto become a good coach but as a player, he doesn't really gain many metres or tackles or anything.

In saying that, I do respect him for all the charge downs he did against the Chooks but yeh I just don't seem to like him. I even tried watching Bon's video of Payten but even that doesn't make me like him :frowning:

😱pen_mouth:

My least favourite player would have to be Wade McKinnon because he's played so few games, I don't really see him as part of the team yet.

lui. conviction or no hes a wife/girlfriend basher in my eyes and whatever respect i had for him he'll never get back

Least favorite player personally (only including those who i've met, otherwise it's unfair):
**Darren Senter:** fresh out of highschool working in a bar, Senter decided to throw a bit of personal abuse at me for no reason. Yeah, he was drunk but the memory stuck.

the rest have all be very nice and polite.

Least favorite player for being a WT player:
**Corey Payne:** a pillow in the highest order. By all reports he's charming and very intelligent, but he sucks as a forward.

i think its time we pay senter a visit kul…

Beau Ryan,he seems to lack the talent to be in 1st grade, but I have never met him,he might be a champion bloke.

I came around to Senter, he ended up being one of my fave players

On topic, Ayshford annoys me, hes coming along well as a centre imo, but the way he ignores his winger more often than not gives me the s***

The way Blake makes hard yards in impossible situations when our forwards are waning warms the cockles of my heart ink!

I won't bothering mentioning the questionable quality of his in-field running winger!!

And he is a lovely down to earth kid who is well liked by his team-mates!

But on another note - if anyone met Senter (aside from Kul when they were both kids apparently) - you'd actually like & respect the way he conducts himself off-field - I can assure you!!! A gentleman!!!

I saw him at the Catholic Club in Campbelltown at the bar and just hey mate how's it going in a friendly way and he just basically told me to f off

If I was in a bar and some random person came up to me asking how I am going, I would not bother talking to them. Just because he is on tv, does not give you the right and expectation of a conversation with him. He is a wage earner like everyone else with his own mates.

You Will find most people will say Beau Ryan as he will be the new Fitzy in 2011….. Matt Useless uti god dont let this guy ever be in first grade their wil be hell to pay, there is always 1 player in the team that is very anoying, John Morris Fitzy etc.

Agreed Ink.

I totally get your point Gary, but by the sounds of it, it sounds like he was overtly rude. A simple "Yeah, good thanks" with a smile is soooo easy to do, and it doesn't invite further conversation.

The whole 'they're-regular-people-who-deserve-privacy' argument has some merit, but I think the over-riding fact is that footballers are wage earners with _significantly higher wages than the average person which they receive for entertaining the public!_

All that being said, they are PEOPLE, and we all have bad days. Unfortunately it sounds like a few people have caught him on bad days :stuck_out_tongue:

I met him and Liam out once, waiting in line at a bar and they were both happy to give me a "hi" and a handshake. Took them maybe 30 seconds total and gave me a great impression of them both.

Pretty much. I was at a city nightclub a few weeks back and Lote Tuqiri and Jarryd Hayne both showed up at different points. Every 5 or so minutes someone would ask Lote for a photo or just do a quick hey buddy how you going, he was polite to everyone, even though it was pretty clear he was frustrated by it all. Hayne was also happy to pose in photos with fans, even if he was also frustrated by it.

If you don't want to talk to them fine, but you don't have to carry on like a jackass about it.

don't really like this thread, sure there were some players that at times last season made you think wtf .. but its a new start and we are going to kick some serious butt this season !!

Well said!

My least favourite, not saying he's a bad player at all, would be Wade Mckinnon.

I've always questioned his positioning and committment under high balls (although the latter seems to be a trend throughout the NRL). I still think if he gets a good run of 5-6 games together without a hammy problem he will produce the goods, but until that day he's probably the one i worry about the most.

Gibbs is a douche. Have also met him a couple of times and each time was the same arrogant prick.
I have to say he thoroughly deserved what he got when O'Meley flattened him a few years ago. Good player, but a douche.
Aside from that Beau Ryan. Not since Paul Carige in the 98 final against Canterbury has a player single handedly lost a game of football with such ease as Beau Ryan. Tough to forgive.

Its disapointing to hear some negative comments about Gibbs. saw him at a cafe in Putney and was thinking about grabbing my son from the car to say hello as he would have loved it but i thought id leave him alone…....glad i did now that i hear these things. I wouldnt have taken it well if he was rude to my son.

The only player who used to get under my skin was senter for the amount of penalties he used to give away, have met leichhardt lottie a few times & is always a gentleman & always talks to my 10 year old grand which is nice.

Depends how you look at it I guess Don't know any personally so can't comment on that . So I'll have to comment on players who cost us most games . even thats hard as I was thinking Beau Ryan with high balls But until you sat under a high ball yourself that swirls side to side and front to back and you got guys screaming down on that are going to belt u once you catch it . watched a young fella at local club training who can get his bombs to drift back at approaching attacking line Can't say I have seen that before . Imagine handling that !!!!

I had to laugh at the title of this thread. If you are a true Tigers fan, you will love all the players in the top squad, regardless of their personal issues or weird personalities. At the end of the day, they are playing for us and you should respect that.

GO TIGES!! :sign:

Are we trying to come to a consensus as to which player will become the new Fitzy in 2011?

Come on fellas, anyone who plays FG for us deserves our full support.

C'mon what was wrong with Fitzy he agreed to sit on the splintered part ofthe bench for 77 minutes each week . Seriously though people seem to forget that Fitzy turned the 2005 GF when he made a great run when the forwards were going nowhere which led to his try in 2nd half and gave us breathing space
