You realize you'll lose the hill ....and then Leichhardt loses it's soul imo

You either want a home ground or a place that needs a lot of mowing ! The soul of the ground is the Kieth Barnes grand stand , the score board which could be moved and rebuilt in another area within the ground the location of the ground and what has transpired there the last hundred years . The soul of Leichhardt is not the Buffalo/Couch/kikuyu grass !and a grassed hill that does not meet the guidelines for Government disability access legislation maybe Bynes could comment on that one !

No Hill - no Leichhardt.

Believe me - I have been going t here for 70 years and the Keith Barnes stand is not the soul of Leichhardt.

The Latchem Robinson stand should be demolished (more corporate boxes) and renamed the Keith Barnes Stand.

He did more for the club than Robinson ever even thought about.

I haven't lived in Sydney for forty years, so perhaps things have changed, but public transport access to the ground used to be terrible and car parking was pretty awful too. has any of that changed?

No..

No, not really. That's the problem.

Great ground for nostalgia but no long term future for the club.

the ground before the war used to run the other way anyway before the hill the grandstand was the keith barnes stand
it makes sense to upgrade given the centre of excellence is nearby at concord

And east / west after the war as well.

The remaining stand, the first to be built at this historic ground, was officially opened by the then Mayor of Leichhardt, James Powell Treadgold, in 1913, but remained nameless until June, 2009 when it was named the Keith Barnes Stand.

NB: The Wests Tigers' highest attendance at the venue is 22,877, which was set on 24 July 2005 as the Tigers defeated South Sydney 42–20.

I have never had a problem on public transport or parking.

I guess you guys want to park in the Tigers dugout - that would be a problem.

Hope the toilets get an upgrade …..

I'm sure they will TT - especially if Darcy has had to go to the GM Memorial Toilets.

That is my take it on it too, getting to and from ground, parking, it is horrendous

YOu can catch light rail to within a close walk, or a bus to the top of the street. Carparking remains an issue but it is an issue at EVERY Sydney ground with the exception of Homebush

Nope. Still the same.

I would LOVE an upgraded Leichhardt. I have posted many times how much this ground has been part of my life as long as I can remember.
But as emotionally attach as I am, I firmly believe we need one home ground.
Campbelltown is nowhere near our home base and the region does not seem in the tigers’ plans. Parra stadium is just that - Parras stadium. A revamped Homebush will be close to home base and provide all we need for a home ground. That, in my opinion, needs to be our goal.
I’d hate to never go to Leichhardt again but a Homebush base just makes sense.

Agreed with all of what you say and i have been going to Leichhardt Oval since the mid 60s.Our future as a JV should be at Homebush

Why would VLandys go to Darcy and not the WestsTigers?

Because he is the mayor and the council own the ground? Tigers are one of a few tenants.

But what does that have to do with VLandys? Why would he be lobbying the State Govt on behalf of the local govt? He should only be concerned with what the club wants.

Not much point lobbying for $$$ or asking what a tenant wants if the owner isnt on board.

I still dont see why he cares what a 2 bit mayor wants and not what the tenant , one of his clubs, wants.

Whenever I'm at Leichhardt I always feel like I'm at HOME

Well said, but things have gotten a bit knocked around since the 1960s.
