Leichhardt

It was a great crowd for a thursday!

Thought the atmosphere was a bit more flat than usual though. Tried to get a Tigers chant happening a few times but everyone was pretty quiet on the hill for the most part for some reason. Maybe the cold

Been going there ever since the ground ran east to west and it always delivers. Last night the group I go with were in our usual position on the concourse right in front of the Cows bench. Well did they give it to Bolton when he took up his position on the bench. A couple of good jibes were directed at him.."you have silky hands Bolton"

Anyway lots of atmosphere and a great result

The gift thats keeps on giving. 13K on a Thursday Night against the Cowboys.

Were a club that has won about 40% of our goes overall yet we are over 50% at Leichhardt. Thats a Semi Final type record.

Yet we play 3 games a year there. Tragic really.

It is tragic but the one positive about it is that the 3 games we play there are calendar events for a lot of Wests Tigers fans - they're not to be missed.

Agreed, LO games have become a special date, not sure if they played6 or 12 games there you would be able to maintain the same sense of a special occasion. Although you certainly throw a big advantage away by playing at Homebush and taking home games far and wide

I just look at the win record.

Around 55-60% over18 years of mostly failure.

That speaks for itself.

We should be playing more games there. I know its not that simple, but it really is our best home ground and has been since Day 1.

we would have been playing finals footy.

I've been going to Leichhardt since I was knee high, as have my eldest, and to be honest while the game was amazing, one of my highlights came while walking into the ground. A young Indian family hopping out of their car and asking for directions because it was their first time to leichhardt. I remember how excited I was, I remember how excited my boy was, and i could see in this families face that they were absolutely stoked to be there.
It brings out the pride in all of us from the rusted ons to the brand new.

Yep. Sponsorship and member numbers look a lot different with sustained success as well.

I don't see why, objectively, that the club shouldn't look into options of developing Leichhardt as the CoE and main base - it is the most 'aspirational' fief in our dominion in terms of players and sponsors - we could be exploiting this.

Not that geography is everything - how close is Doha to Brookvale - but if one were to look at our area as a little empire the capital would be in the Inner West somewhere.

Plus, we keep winning there, as mentioned.

Possibly some of the mellow music prior to kickoff? It seemed pretty good once the game was going.

Well done to everyone who turned up. Thursday night, cold, out of town team what else can I say apart from it looked and sounded great on TV

Love Leichardt. Its been a long wait to get there this season but worth it. The energy among the parochial crowd all packed in together - nothing better. If anything is to go by last night there wont be a spare space in the house when we play StGeorge.

I posted my conspiracy theory elsewhere, but did 13k seem accurate to people or low?

Seemed about right - there were some vacant seats down the other end. I've been there when it's been capacity and it was a bit off that.

Once have been on the wrong part of the hill. Plenty of noise and atmosphere where I was standing throughout the entire game

Fair enough, harder to judge when u get there late like I did. Been there when sold out too and couldn't imagine another 10k

The love I have for that place is immeasurable.
One of my earliest memories is being pushed in a stroller down to the game with mum dad my aunty and cousins and their friends (and whoever else we run into along the way, my cousins know everyone around there) my aunty lives within 5min walking distance to the groud, has lived there her whole life.
I remember feeling something special there that I never felt anywhere else and it's there everytime I've gone back since.
I have a strong emotional attachment with the place, I just feel at home there.

I literally have a piece of turf from the halfway mark in a zip lock bag with me, i took it on the morning of the 2005 grandfinal. It sits with a photo of the plaque of Laurie in the tunnel and the black singlet I got from Laurie's memorial day.

My ashes will be spread on the hill when I go.

Legend mate. That's what a home ground is. Wish Pascoe and Go and co heard people like you tell their experiences. ANZ may make money, but the real home grounds make life-long memories, which imo is more important.

I was just thinking this. I suggest everyone who values Leichhardt send Pascoe an email. The only thing that speaks loudly is volume of people

Looked like 15K+ to me but it has become a bit more difficult to judge since they added more reserved seating around the field.

Hill was full enough and standing up, hence why I thought there was more.

Don't see any reason for a conspiracy tho, normally clubs exaggerate.

Great stuff mate.
