Fulton, Fitzhenry return to Wests TigersOctober 16, 2009 - 7:19PM

The Wests Tigers will welcome back Liam Fulton and Daniel Fitzhenry, with the pair re-joining the NRL club after stints in England.

Fulton played 76 matches for the Tigers from 2003-2008 before heading to the Huddersfield Giants in the Super League for the 2009 season.

"Returning to Wests Tigers has me really excited, there is a real buzz about our 2010 campaign," said Fulton.

"My time at Huddersfield helped develop my game and I'll return to the NRL a more complete player".

Fitzhenry returns after a two-year stint with Hull Kingston Rovers.

The Tigers have also signed winger Tame Tupou, who previously played for Brisbane and Super League club Bradford

The only one of those players I'm really interested in is Tupou. If he remains fit and healthy he could really add to the strikepower out wide. Fulton may defend well around the ruck but unless his game has developed, I don't see him adding much. Fitzy…Good luck at BRET.

So with the signing of Liam, i cant see Galea being considered for a new contract which is shame. Fitz will take over Morris mantel of never being dropped and being played out of position. Still i dont mind Fitzy, he adds some good pace to our backline and is solid at best however he is one of sheens pets.

at the risk of being a wet blanket, i have to say i dont honestly see the re signing of fulton and fitzhenry to be exactly the epitome of a progressive recruitment mindset!
yeh, they were good during their time at the tiges and both premiership players, but i think we have other players who offer way more as future prospects.
sure, fulton is a handy utility, but i cant see fitzy getting anywhere near a first grade spot?
i hope we havent spent too much money on them…

Its terrible recruitment and one of the few areas the club should be rightly criticised on.

I say let time decide this I think a lot of people on here are not giving Fulton the respect he deserves. As I have
stated earlier when Fulton plays we win he has some sort of X factor those who doubt me check the stats.Fitzy is another kettle of fish but I believe he came cheap if so I am happy in the sense he brings versatility and experience we all want to bad mouth Fitzy but he was an integral part of our only premiership.I say doubt these two at your peril. :deadhorse: :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

Im with you,
I think Daniel Fitzhenry and Liam Fulton are complete wastes of money..
Daniel Fitzhenry is particular, if he ever makes the starting side before ryan, tuiaki, topou, roquica or savou then some questions need to asked of sheens.

I can't see how anyone could criticise the club re: Fitzy..it all comes back to money and how much he is getting? If he has come cheap (which you would think would be the case) then I have no problem with adding a useful utility player to the squad for depth.

Fulton will likely come back and again be our most consistent defender and continue to do a lot of the little things that never get noticed and will probably end up just as unapreciated as ever, I think it was a shame he was even released to begin with.

I sort of agree with what you are stating. Surely Fitzy will struggle to make the top grade. Fulton has the ability but I'm unsure if he has the size which we need in the pack.

There are both imo average signings that hopefully add depth and came cheap.

I say let time decide this

Wise words I think.

I too have been quick to label this type of homecoming recruiting a step backwards, but we all saw how valuable Skando was this year.
ALL new recruits are something of a gamble imo.
Yes I'd take Folau over Fitzy in a heartbeat….but we dont recruit top shelf.
I just wonder if this wasnt all planned some years before hand, a handy way of overcoming cap probs.
Might have some doubts the next time a departing club favourite has a final home game farewell complete with crepe paper banners etc etc.

So which one is the international Sheens promised?
Ex international Cayless or ex international Tupou?...or ex Roo schoolboy international Fulton?

Sorry what I meant to post was that I think with more maturity Liam will become our alan tongue.A workhorse in defence and taking more of a leadership role in attack as his game develops.Liam was well known as the teams joker and was well liked with the ability to motivate people but with now hopefully greater maturity Liam with time can
become a locker room leader similiar to what tongue is to canberra and what Mark Geyer was once to penrith.

Liam is a top footballer and will add something to the team next year. I remember Peter Sterling's comments on Fulton in 2005 - this guy will be something special - or words to that effect. Sterlo is, in my opinion the best judge of talent that we hear from in the media and I am happy to be in agreement with him on this one.

I think he also said when he fills out. That to me is the issue. He has all the skills but sometimes I think a role player with hard defence that stops players ala Galea is all we need.

Yes, I acknowledge he did also add that rider about him filling out.
