Honestly this is how I see it. We have a bunch of 6’s and one legitimate 7 in Jock.

As much as some might want it, I don’t see Latu as an organising 7 at all. Jock also isn’t complete enough to play there weekly.

Benji will go with AD and Luai to start.

I think going forward we should move towards:

13 AD or Latu
6 Luai
7 Andrews

I like Latu but IMO Luai, AD, Andrews and Jock are ahead of him in the halves. Latu is a little tank and it seems like we’re having to constantly fight against him putting on weight. Stop fighting it and lean into the fact he’s a beast. An Erin Clark style 13 with better ball playing and more speed off the mark makes total sense to me.

Andrews is special, it’s clear as day already. He looks absolutely lethal in the red zone which is the exact thing we’re missing. And sure it’s against state cup players, but to me it’s not about the opposition. If you’ve watched footy for long enough, you can just tell when someone is a star. Call it the “it factor” or whatever, whatever it is, he has it in absolute spades.

That is honestly going to destroy Cleary’s brain. He’s been widely regarded as the best rugby league player in the world for the last 5 years but he’s never won a Dally M. To wipe out that possibility before a ball is even kicked is going to (understandably) mess with his head for sure.

Anyway, let's face it most players would need a step ladder to hit Makasini in the head, so what's his excuse.

Some delayed thoughts/comments from me:

1. Douhie can’t tackle with his right shoulder. It’s a problem when defending on the right because it means you have to put your head in front of the ball carrier’s body to make contact with your left shoulder. It’s why he broke his jaw last year. Saw him do it again last night. It’s also why he gets beaten on the outside a lot when defending on the right edge. Compare it to how well he defended when playing left centre for us. I am disappointed he has not worked on this over the off season.

2. Biggest surprise for me last night. MAV Geyer. I had no expectations but thought he was very good.

3. Twal was awesome. Had a good season last year too, especially the back end and appears to have carried that form over.

4. Even Bula at his best is not worth $950k for mine. I’d be happy to have him finish his contract this year, take up the club option for $950k and then see what happens. At least we are not locked in long term that way. I believe he’s already 24 and with a slight frame and below average acceleration (but excellent long speed) I don’t know how much improvement he has in him (I know he was a late starter).

5. Is Javon Andrews a smoky for fullback at some point in the future? I don’t know enough about him yet to say but he has great size and ball playing. Something to watch.

6. It was a shame the “malfunctioning air conditioning system” meant Ivan Cleary couldn’t watch the game from the coaches box last night and was forced into the outdoor press box 😹

I kept thinking can Andrew’s play fullback, played a lot better then our $1million man.

How about you use your own intuition and experience whilst watching the games get played and the words spoken outside of them?
Don’t have any? Then by all means consider my opinion….however a word of warning - shitting on someone else’s opinion whilst not arguing the point or providing one of your own just makes you look stupid.
