**Live game thread** us vs the Knights r21

Are you standing up for yourself? My god does your father know you act like this?
FYI my father died when I was 19 that was 49 years ago. I am old and old school and I can’t stand anonymous bullies like you. I suggest you hit the ignore button because while ever you keep up your garbage posts I will keep coming. So can I now expect some clever response about being senile? I would be disappointed by anything less

I haven’t read through this thread but we had a chance to win that at the end however didn’t really deserve it. Nu Brown’s run from dummy half was a pointless hero play and sums up this side for mine. They are all in it for themselves and rarely have a team first approach.

How shocking is our win record against sides like warriors, titans and knights, can't look at these teams at the beginning of the season and be confident of 2 points, like other teams do, bloody disappointing

Kenny has been on one leg most of the season. We let our best replacement go to Melbourne. Would like to understand what The club are trying to achieve by basically tanking.
I can understand it with Lucy, as he had already signed elsewhere, through struggling to understand letting a contracted player go with nothing in return.

Most sides would have smashed Newie today based upon their errors and turnovers in poor field position.

People think its great we let Luciano go cause we saved 100,000 on our salary cap, look at all the injuries tigers have and we're loaning players to other clubs, 4 weeks left for our season and we've got nothing left???

This is the thing about this football side. Same deal thats been happening throughout the Madge period also, we look good for a couple weeks (potentially even win) against sides not many give us a chance for. Then we come up against someone like the Warriors or Titans or Knights or some other below average team and end up losing. I can't fathom it. I know they're not a top quality team, but there is often stark contrast in the performance particularly in effort areas. Is it a psychological thing?

Certainly looks that way.
Id like to see how the coaches prepared the side this week as opposed to last week.
A win today puts us in 13th. It was important.

Laurie has done some good things, but we always look clunky off his second man plays. Not sure if it his ball skills or the terrible structure around it.

That reminded me of a 80s reserve grade game from 2 sides out of contention.

But then we have over half our best side out and it gets worse every week.

A few points on the game & future …

Mamaulo - hopefully this injury is a blessing so he can have the necessary surgery/rehab to be 100% for next season. He’s only been at 70% all season with his grumbly knee.

T’oa/Kepaoa - the more these guys play in the centres, the better they will go I’m certain of it. Have the tools, just need to continue to work on their defensive decisions as the opposition spreads with players in motion.

Doeuhi - in the offseason, our defence coach needs to give AD tackling technique tutoring.

Halfback - Sheens has stated in an interview or podcast that he likes his halfbacks to have speed so we can all stop talking about Hastings being our halfback, he WILL be lock. Our halfback next season will be Brooks (possibly not after that). It’s just whether Madden accepts he is better staying with us as understudy or go elsewhere as understudy.

Madden - seems the type of player that will continue to improve each season. He is not the answer as an A grade half in 2022 but I have faith he can be a top tier half in 2024-25.

Freebairn - we played much better when TF was on with his energy, link play & running. I am on the bandwagon & hope he is Lock for us next week. A great clubman that inspires others & would help development of our youth, I would not be surprised if he jags a contract with us for 23.

Pole - I could see Noddys thinking with Pole on for 1st 20 before Freebairn coming on, but I think Pole would be better for us in Prop rotation.

Hooker/Utility - I don’t think the Nu Brown/Peachey rotation is effective, more that we lose strike with Peachey at dummyhalf. However maybe we are putting Peachey on show to sell his contract. I would like to see a 60/40 Jake Simpkin/Nu Brown rotation with Brown providing relief for Tom Freebairn at Lock.

2nd Phase Play - we have the most strike when we attack off an offload. It brings Laurie & Doeuhi in as threats. This needs to be a focus for us over final 4 rounds.

Injuries - if Noddy stays true to giving youth a run, I’d hope Tupou comes in for Mamaulo (and not Garner centre T’oa wing or Roberts). Garner back to 2nd Row, Seyfarth bench, Dias out. I’d like Tumeth to have another couple of NSW Cup games before a bench spot in final 2 rounds.

Can anyone tell me why we didnt play our full 17 players .. ?? Austin Dias named in the 17 .. but never took to the field .. !! To me thats a bloody waste of a player .. he sat there the whole game, fresh a daisy, when some of our players were hands on knees, gasping for air .. if you have 17 players use them .. or dont pick that player .. !!

I can see kepaoa developing into a good centre option, but don’t see the hype with t’oa looks a bit average to me. We need another strike centre or maybe naden will take that spot next season?
