LIVE GAME Live Game Thread v Warriors *Spoilers*

Live Game Discussion
was at the game, here's a few thoughts.

- we defended well. we actually won the collision the majority of the night and won the field position battle. Garner gave us some much needed steel on the right edge. Gildart got his hands dirty. the Warriors made some errors on our line but we mitigated every challenge they threw at us.

- the end to our sets is diabolical. the midfield bomb might be the worst kicking tactic I've ever seen. if we had a spine that could find the turf and put teams into corners we'd win more than we'd lose, but it never seems to change.

- left edge was classy in attack. Gildart's evasiveness and awareness in attack is impressive. To'a was just about our best. yes he dropped the ball over the line but he's certainly not to blame.

- Laurie, Simpkin and Peachey were poor. Joffa and Musgrove bent the line through the middle. I actually thought Nofo was decent too apart from the Aitken try.

- Luke Brooks... play him at 6 these next few weeks until Hastings comes back. unlocked Gildart down the left edge a couple times and put in two grubbers that should've been tries. what he shouldn't be doing is finishing our sets or controlling the team with 10 to go because he can't do either. give Madden a crack there, he was excellent and built a lot of pressure. we have to change something.

- bench rotation is diabolical. it's monotonous and as far away from dynamic as we've ever seen. it was clear to everyone that Liddle was killing them through the middle, yet we still bring on Simpkin with 20 to go as I'm sure the Warriors planned for. Twal coming on in the 50th minute? ridiculous

that was our last chance to take home two points for another month. Gold Coast, Cronulla, Parramatta and Souths. if Madge is still in the box after those games I'll sleep on the moon.
Was at the game too and I agree with your comments on the game. The midfield bomb with absolutely no pressure baffles me. If it isn't a Douiehi wobbling special bomb, then try a different tactic.

To'a must be in the backline somewhere next week! Looked a threat every time he touched the ball.

Lack of execution killed us. Given the opportunities we had, other teams would have won by a few tries. We just seem to not handle those moments well.

I actually thought their were a heap of positives on an individual basis and a team basis last night and that stats and the play showed we won everywhere but on the scoreboard.

We played pretty well.

Our forwards did a decent job, our outside backs were okay and our halves were good. Liddle was good.

The two poor performers who were really really poor were Simpkin and Laurie.

I'm not writing Simpkin off completely, but he needs time in Cup to develop his game, similar to Grant plying his trade in Q Cup for years. post-Koroisau it's either him or Tannous starting at 9 with Ngatikaura playing in a Brandon Smith-type role. he's not ready for week to week first grade yet.

I’ve been critical of him, but by no means do I think he’s a lost cause. He needs to add a few strings to his bow though. Being a crash over merchant without nothing else in your game won’t cut it.

Also, what is with the constant comparisons between Ngatikuara and Smith. They have the same body shape. That’s it.

The club made this claim first.
In their players to watch article, a while back.

It's quite clear the comparison is because he has the ability to play 9 and 13 and plays with high intensity.... quite simple to see.

He also showed more in the limited time he had in the trial than Liddle and Simpkin have shown us.

He does appear to be a hog like Simpkin and that isn't a good trait in first grade.

That's it, all he needs to do is learn when to run a bit more and that comes with experience... dummy half is such a hard position and most players don't find their feet until they've done it for a few seasons.

Definitely not one to give up on.

NRL head Graham Annesley has conceded it was “the wrong call” for referee Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski to ignore sending a possible Wests Tigers try to the Bunker.

The refereeing howler prompted Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire to fume post-match that the call was “ridiculous” and a “game changer.’’

The potential four-pointer came in the first half with the Tigers and Warriors locked at 6-all and could have proved the difference in the Tigers 16-12 loss on Friday night.

The potential try came from a Luke Brooks grubber into the in-goal, which Leilua came desperately close to grounding millimetres inside the dead-ball line.

Inexplicably, Przeklasa-Adamski opted against checking the possible try with the video referee.

After speaking with NRL referees boss Jared Maxwell on Saturday morning, Annesley said the call was “wrong”.

“He (Przeklasa-Adamski) thought he saw it clearly and made a judgment call,’’ Annesley said.

“He didn’t think it was as close as what it ultimately turned out to be.

“He thought he was in a good position, had a clear view of it and made the call.

“He was wrong. He should’ve referred the decision, he didn’t refer to it and we’ll never know what decision the bunker would’ve made.

“But that doesn’t in any way detract from the fact that should’ve been referred to.

“By no means am I trying to justify it, but he’s only in his third game as a single referee, but the only way people get experience is to bring them into play – much like a player.

“He’s going to learn a pretty hard lesson out of this, a self-inflicted lesson because he’s doing it quite tough this morning, knowing full-well he’s made the wrong call.

“I know that is no consolation to anyone that is a Tigers official, fan or player, but he realises his error.

“No one goes out there trying to make errors.’’

Know the game much ?!? Huh ??? What moves did they put on? Why do they all go sideways ? Why do they always stand flat footed ??? Why 5 Captains ??? All you must know is Madge by the sound of it !!! FFS ! 🤯
We made a fair few line breaks , some real
I vowed last year not to attend another WT game while Brooks is halfback. Might have to add Laurie at fullback to that list, and Nofa at wing, and Madge as coach, and …. Forget it I will watch AFL instea
he has shown clear improvement every year. if he can play around 8-10 games at least this year I think he'll be ready for a full season come 2023.

6. Doueihi
7. Madden
13. Hastings
Madden fits the game plan way better IMO. His defence is meh but he has a go , so it will improve . He’s not a cat . His kicking game and game management , are his strengths but his running game is below average so , with potent runners in Hastings and AD , that should allow more space if the opportunity comes .
At times last night his game look very kimmorley like just for reference , the way he he sprints at a defender and has a flat ball to a hard running edge .

Why doesn’t it happen to the Roosters you pack of biased pricks?
