Liverpool Home Ground?

If nothing else, reactions to these announcements are where people show their true colours.

The idea of a ground at Liverpool seems to get some people's blood boiling more than taking home games to Tamworth or NZ.

It's worth taking a deep breath and see what the announcement actually was.

It was an announcement about allocating some money in the next state budget to do further research into the business case for different stadiums.

That's a long way from sending in the bulldozers and pulling down the shutters at our current grounds.

My fear with Liverpool is that it becomes like BankWest in that it becomes more identified with the Bulldogs than with the Tigers. Maybe if Wests built another leagues club near the ground it could work

Why would it be more identified with the Bulldogs?

Liverpool being closer to Canterbury than Ashfield and the fact that the Bulldogs were going to build a stadium in Liverpool 10/15yrs ago if I remember correctly

True, but I'd say Liverpool is still closer to Campbelltown than Canterbury. ```

As for Liverpool its big no for me.

As someone from the Balmain side of things i see only way forward and thats a total redevelopment of Campbelltown into our own 20k seat super stadium.

Allowances will have to be made with our branding and jersey design to appease the Balmain side of things but thats easy to sort out. Easy to sort out with strong off field leadership.

We look to have stability and strength in our leadership at the moment. Id trust these guys to transition to Campbelltown and do it in a way that has the support of both sides of the merger.

The problem is that the govt doesn't seem to be building a stadium there.

I believe that could change with a strong leadership decision and a full commitment to the stadium, ie an announcement that we are moving all of our home games to the stadium and playing nowhere else.

The government will never back a redevelopment for a handful of games.

Well, yes. If we had the guts to make a decision it would work. I don't think they have a plan for our future though.

we already share bankwest with parramatta
so let's
go to Liverpool and share with the dogs
Parramatta is far more closer to COE and transport than Liverpool
Disappointing decision if we end up at liverpool

Liverpool is in our area, the complaints with Bankwest are that it is Parramatta's. This should be ours if we are smart about it.

Is it really? Are that where the Wests Tigers supporters come from?

don't think it will be Cochise
I dont want to move to Campbelltown but that is ours not Liverpool, that in my opinion is more dogs territory we will be swamped

I hope before they move they look at members and who has what e.g. what stadiums do members go to and attendances before deciding on going wherever.
Shame we dont take the SFS roosters have no crowd anyway

The Liverpool junior sides have a big Wests Tiger on their jersey.

Supporters mate. The emblem on a junior jersey means nothing in terms of future support.

You and I are usually pretty much on the same page but I disagree with that strongly. It is our area, they are our juniors playing in those jerseys, it would be a much easier sell for us to claim the ground as ours than the Dogs.

Cochise I just think the SW is not the place to be it didnt work for the magpies, i think the club needs to keep to inner west and near COE so we can accommodate sponsors etc
It will always have the SW to get juniors from
Lee H is starting to become Mr Rent A Quote on Wests Tigers

We very much disagree on this topic. We are an inner city club pure and simple, but I don’t have any real data to support that. A survey of potential members, not current, would be interesting to see locations of potential members.

The biggest issue is their isn't a solution that suits our needs. I agree that Homebush is the best option for us location wise but the stadium so vastly inapproriate for our use.

What really surprises me is that nothing has ever really been said about Concord.
When the COE is finished what is Concord going to look like capacity wise?
If it's at all feasible I think that would be the ideal spot if it could be made into a 25 - 30,000 seat stadium.
What are everyone's thoughts about that and what are the pros and cons?

No chance, it will have a around a 1000 seats. Suitable for the Pirates.

Just looked it up and says it had a capacity of 20,000 when it was redeveloped in 1985.
Thought there may have been a possibility that something could have been done with it.

Well said....spoken like a true Patriot.
And even more so that you are from "the Balmain side of things".
It would be totally irresponsible of Our club to at least not give very serious consideration to making the rapidly growing City Of Campbelltown Wests Tigers new
and permanent home.
There must be many thousands of Our supporters 'already' in that area, and with a bit of promotion I reckon We would have more than enough support from local businesses and fans generally in next to no time at all to fully support Our Club financially.
If We want Wests Tigers to be the next 'powerhouse' NRL club....We have to look to the future Ladies and Gentleman.
I haven't been to Leichardt Oval since the 70's, but from many reports on here it's totally well past it's use by date, and the only ones that would now feel comfortable being there are those Balmain supporters that have been going there for many years and are used to walking the so called Kokoda Track.
Get with the future folks....stop looking back or we will never get anywhere.

I don't think CSS is the answer either, it is also very out dated.
