If there was ever any evidence that people need to build a bridge, surely these last few pages are it?

Wtfl1981 your complaints are really ironic considering your avatar.

In other words its not ok to call them Wests on their own, even though its apart of their name 😱pen_mouth:

I think you will find it happens less and less, perhaps a few of the older callers and journalists like Warren Ryan struggle but for most of the younger brigade they only know Wests Tigers.

Of course it's okay to just call them Wests.
But if you do so you cant complain about them being called 'Tigers'.

My particular post refers to WT being referred to as Balmain Tigers which is a sign of ignorance in the Media.. It does not refer to WT being called just tigers and or just wests.

It pees certain WT fans off who are frustrated when ignorant media individuals carelessly refer to WT as Balmain and to a less extent when WT are only referred to only as Tigers when there are headlines that make no distinguishing between BT or WT (i.e. Tigers make two grand finals in 2012 - BRET & NYC) Tigers to form single nsw cup side, Tigers football manager Paul Sironen, Peter Sterling calling Noel Kelly a Tigers legend in a tv interview etc etc

Its not a agenda by anyone in particular but a sign of ignorance which erodes at the wests legacy that is suppose to be there just as equally in WT.

Don't worry,Wests will be the winner in the long run,our future lies in the Ca..Ca..Campbelltown(there,i said it) region,i just hope the Tiger stays as the logo for the NRL Team.

Would you call Campbelltown Stadium the spiritual home of anything or anybody?
The reference is made because of the history of the place - something that our other grounds simply can't provide.

Who really cares? You're not changing anything, I was a balmain fan and now a WT fan. I could be next to you at the first game next year in the same jersey. Get over it neither team is coming back.

Ok, its all got really boring now.

Posters missing the point completely more likely(not you),overall i think the JV is going well, not perfect and never will be but OK.Gallop made no secret of the fact(at the time probaly trying to deflect attention way from the AFL in Wagga) that he wanted a Team based in Greater Western Sydney, its just a matter if the Commission follows thru in the short term with this goal.

Well I'm sure the issue isn't high on the list of priorities at the UN … however it does touch a nerve or two around here.

You obviously care enough to post something on the subject Mitch, so good on you and if you're standing next to me in the same jersey (the somewhat faded Victa 1978 strip with a number 6 half torn off the back) at the first game next year I'll buy you a very pricey beer in a very cheap plastic cup.

Back to the dynamics of our clubs handle ... Guess us old Lidcombites can't really complain .. We did get the serious, grown up part of the title ... ie WESTS ... I mean let's face it the emblems are really just there to get the kiddies involved or enthuse the mentally fragile who are want to rush out with their disability payments to purchase every piece of merchandise that has claws, teeth and a splash of orange (was that a bit uncalled for ? Yeah seems a tad harsh in retrospect).

So I kind of see it like WESTS are the three tiered hotel ... whilst the T----s are that bindy infested beer garden overlooking the Coles carpark next door.

Oh geez, now I'm just being playfully inflammatory ... Someone could lose an eye around here soon !
Let me apologize in advance ... One eyed supporters are often subjected to very hard lives indeed...

Snoddy- A little bit off topic but your 'Lidcombites' bought back memories of the two times a youngmanjudd had the pleasure of spending some time on the hill at Lidcombe. Both were from the 86 season and were at two ends of the enjoyment scale. Bad news first-a star Studded Balmain side with Schofield just off the plane for a second stint lead 10-nil early and it looked like it was a case of Balmain by how many but Wests rallied and held on for a close win.Boy did I cop it at school on the Monday.
The second game I will never forget as Wests were severe underdogs beat the silvertails. I believe Ian Schubert had a great game from memory for the magpies. The Wests Wests chant this time was very moving.
I have always had a soft spot for Wests and was lucky with the joint venture that Balmain partnered with them and not parra or any other super league scum

Don't know why you thought that OMJ  Balmain always struggled against Wests in the 80s no matter how well Balmain were going or how much bad the Magpies were going! Well that's my (possibly failing) memory of that time anyway.

That Manly game was in 1987 at Orana Park if I remember correctly.
