Lote : old or injured?

Lote has been woeful the past few weeks and his 'attempts' to gather kicks have been embaressing. If that was Fitzy, this forum would have torn him apart. Because it's the high profile guy, everyone is trying to ignore it.

Some of the 'attempts' have been park footy stuff. Jumping with no real intention to even catch the ball. Getting beaten for athletic ability over and over again by Blake Ferguson. Being outhustled all night by South's rookies.

But last nights complete failure to even bend down to gather that Souths grubber…..........that was pathetic. Watch it back again and the young Souths kid simply wanted it more / was faster. Lote bent down to pick that ball up like an old man. No other way of putting it.

I've got a bad back and I bend down that slow when I'm picking up my son's dummy after he drops it.

I bend down that slow as I am getting old and I've got a dud back.

So, is age getting the better of Lote or is there an injury we don't know about? Watch the video back again and it's amazing how slow he was to react. He mouths something after the try like "my fault / on me" or something.

Yeah, same with half of Cronulla's tries last week also mate.

I don't believe he can be 'this' bad suddenly. Is he injured???

Its a young mans game these days….but this club has a bad habit of buying old crocks.....Payless,Mckinnon and Tequiri...souths had that problem for years and it showed in there results......we need a cleanout in this joint,starting with Sheens we have some good young kids but this clown isnt giving them a go

My concern is that same as yours Spaceman. It's a young man's game and Lote is past 30 and looks 'old' lately. We've still got him for two more years at $400 000 + (crazy $$$ for a winger).

I am hoping he's just got some sort of back injury. Honestly, that "effort" to gather that grubber last night was pathetic. The souths bloke was meters behind him yet got there first whilt LT was still bending down. Lote looked genuinely shocked. The speed of the modern game leaves old wingers behind very quickly and I am hoping it's not about to go past him also. Hoping it's just an injury.

Have watched him closeley the last couple of games & i am sure he is playing wounded, but lote not our only problem as we could miss the eight on the form we are showing @ the moment.

whats with the sideways running ?? the size of the guy you'd think he'd break the line easily.

I agree 100% with your post mate. His first half of the season was good but the last few weeks, his inability to defuse bombs, grubbers etc. has cost us a couple of times. What he did to allow Souths their 3rd try was inexusable for a player of his experience, and then his half-hearted attempt to catch, what was not a great bomb at 30-18\. It's moments like these we need players like him delivering the goods and playing it safe, some of the errors he made last night were irresponsible and were very un-lote-like.

This forum is ridiculous.

Tuqiri has been a great addition. He had a shocker last night, but before that everyone was doing nothing but praising him, and he deserved it. He's come back way better than expected.

Same with Beau Ryan, one bad game doesn't mean they deserve to be slaughtered. If you know anything than you'd know Beau puts in 100% week in week out, he's one of our most passionate blokes.

That loss is KILLING ME. I'm just as upset as anyone here, but I'm not going to make ridiculous comments because of it.

Ok if he is injured why did he play last night considering the injury plagued Souths? Considering that many points were scored though him .Now we are under the pump every week we will be carring another player injured.These decisions are the ones that confuse me obviously we have not got any replacements in our entire network of teams.

This is nothing new…Lote is not injured enough to stop him from playing or having a dig...He is out of form and you're right CNX if it was Fitzy this thread would be 20 pages long by now calling for his head...

Sheens would never DROP Lortay for being out of form....400K talent doesn't play Reggies....

I believe Lote will get his Mojo back....Just hope it's against the Panfers...

FIRE UP...Lortay...

He is simply out of form.

He can still be a damaging player. His runs last night were good.It is his defence and lack of commitment in defence which has been a concern.

Old crocks is a bit harsh mate;

Cayless is probably the closest to what you describe, however we picked him up on the cheap and I don't think you'll ever see him play first grade at the Tigers again so that really isn't an issue. I'm still adamant that given the opportunity to get some match fitness he could get close to his pre-ESL form;
McKinnon has injury issues, but he is the best answer at fullback. He's tried and tested, and we probably picked him up for a good price. Have you got a better alternative? Ryan, Brown and Fitzy aren't working;
Tuqiri has had a few dodgy games over the last few weeks, but he looks to be carrying niggling injuries into the game. He's still got plenty of good football in him and the years he spent in Union have been kind to him.

Our whole backline has issues taking the high balls and we lack direction from the halves. They are the two biggest issues. Tuqiri still scores plenty of pies and thats while he's experiencing a dip in form.

Loti is proving himself to be one of those players who wont do anything extra on a footy field other what is stated in his contract .
It must be written some were in his contract that all he has to do is score tries and THATS ALL .
Has become a real lazy player . Im sure if someone told him that his job also included the duties of diving on lose balls( Before the other team does )and helping out a fellow player whilst being driven backwards buy the other side instead of just standing there and watching or cover up chip kick in our own in goals .. Loti's reply would be … woow woow woow hang on just one minute i dont get payed extra to do those things so why should i ... NO HEART , NO PASSION = NO WINS

Thats a good one…

I have a friend who is a bookie in the UK. I asked him last November how much he would give me for Lote Tuqiri to score 2 Tries in the NRL Grand Final next year. He quoted me 5000 to 1 and I said I'll take it. He quickly changed his mind and offered me 2000 to 1.

I sure hope he is doing his job come Grand Final Day!!! 😛ray:

I'ld say Lote is fatigued. He played in round 1 coming straight back from England after playing rugby over there for a while. He hasn't missed a game, is involved regularly making the hard yards off our line & is in his 30s now. I'ld say its that simple.

Some stupid posts in this thread. He has had a couple of poor games to be sure but it is only three weeks ago against the Cowboys that he almost single handedly kept us in the game in the first half. He can do nothing for the rest of the year and still be rated as a success this year in my book.

Guys Guys Guys , the bloke doesnt want to break his Acrylic Nails.. Refills cost money you know …

Must agree very poor performace , said to my wife it appears he has been paid to let tries in ... I know its not true but when angry ppl can say silly things ..The passion and drive has gone out of the bloke ..
