Wow..gonna be a great year…imagine if Willy was also signed for 2010...Would have been magic. He will have an awesome year. Good luck to him. In sayig that however it will still be the Year of the Tiger...bring it on....

anyone know when TNT will be due back? there has been talk he will miss half the season which scares me into saying Lote at fullback Fitzy and Ryan could be our wingers OUCH!

I'm glad it is finally out, it was killing me knowing all this time and not being able to tell you guys…...

How funny, we all knew through our personal contacts within the team but couldn't share it with each other.

Who really cares, the Great Lote debate is over, he is a TIGER, let the good time roll.

Full strength, I believe there are only two options that sheens should go with:

Option A - what the fans want:
1\. Tuqiri
2\. Tuiaki
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Best of the rest
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen

14\. Taumata
\
\
or Option B - if these Taumata rumours are true:
1\. Moltzen
2\. Tuiaki
3\. Ayshford/Tuqiri
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuqiri/Ayshford
6\. Marshall
7\. Taumata

14\. Fitzhenry
\
\
but, knowing Sheens, he may pull something out of left field:

1\. Tuqiri
2\. Tuiaki
3\. Moltzen
4\. Lawrence
5\. Ayshford
6\. Marshall
7\. Taumata

the best thing about it is that there are sooooo many different combination, so much depth, so much talent and so much power! We will have one of the biggest and best backlines in the league.

Tuqiri from memory was a left Winger for the broncos so if Tuquri were to play wing ( Mullaney or Moltzon ) at fullback then who gets moved to the right wing?

Why would be looking for a right winger, doesn't Beau play right wing? He is going to take off this year!! But then im not sure what happens when tuiaki comes back, there has been talk that he will be beef up and move to second rower i think if he loses some of his pace? but this is me just talking out my rear. What ever happens its going to be exciting. We have always had problems with depth and now it seems like we have all these good players to choose from. Its awesome.

I think Sheens will probably do that. Although I haven't ever seen Mark Flanagan play. If he is good he could get the number 14.

Nar Sheens will fit Fitzy into the 17 somehow. Even if it means he has to move the team around. He will move Heaven and earth to fit Fitzy in. You know he will.

**Wests Tigers finally snare Lote Tuqiri**
Brent Read From: The Australian February 04, 2010 6:10PM

WESTS Tigers NRL club have ended one of the most protracted player negotiations of the pre-season by announcing dual international Lote Tuqiri will join the club when he finishes his commitments in English rugby union.
Tigers chief executive Steve Humphreys finalised negotiations with Tuqiri in England, where he is playing rugby union with Leicester, overnight.

**And fellow big name player Willie Mason, unwanted by Sydney Roosters, indicated tonight he had agreed to terms with North Queensland Cowboys.**

The Tigers wasted no time trumpeting the latest addition to its ranks, describing Tuqiri as one of the biggest signings in the joint-venture club's 11-year-history.

“We made it clear early on that should Lote be interested in returning to rugby league, then Wests Tigers were keen to accommodate him,” Humphreys said.

“This club is about developing our local juniors to first grade but it is also good to attract high quality talent"
“Lote attracted significant interest from European rugby clubs who have greater financial resources than we do.”

Tuqiri, who could make his NRL return in round three against Parramatta, was sacked by the Australian Rugby Union last year after breaching team protocol. He had been widely expected to join the Tigers on a three-year deal believed to be worth upwards of $400,000 a season.

Tuqiri said he was looking forward to playing under coach Tim Sheens.

“There was plenty of speculation about my next career move,” Tuqiri said.

“I was really appreciative of the interest I received from a number of clubs which made my decision that much harder.

“I really appreciate the fact Stephen came to Leicester to meet with my family. We had a really good talk about a range of things which greatly assisted us in making the decision we have now made.

“I enjoyed my time in rugby union immensely and have been very fortunate to have made many great friends through my time in the code.

“The Leicester Tigers have been terrific to me and my family and we will never forget the warm hospitality they and their supporters have shown us.

“I'm really excited to return to the NRL. There is no question it is one of the toughest sporting competitions in the world and I am confident Wests Tigers will enjoy great success in the coming years.

“The opportunity to play under the most experienced coach in the game in Tim Sheens was a major factor in my decision. Wests Tigers is a club with a great culture and a terrific roster of players. I am thrilled to be joining them.”

Sheens said: “Lote's experience and ability will bring an X-factor to Wests Tigers. He has achieved more than most footballers and to have someone of his calibre in our team is a great addition to an already impressive squad of talented players.

“I know one of the main driving reasons behind Lote's decision is that he is very keen to break back into representative footy, something other players coming back from rugby union have been unable to do of late.”

My favourite left field option, with all players fit and available, would be:

1\. Mitch Brown
2\. Taniela Tuiaki
3\. Blake Ayshford
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Lote Tuqiri
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Tim Moltzen
14\. Arana Taumata

I love that back three, Brown, Tuiaki and Tuqiri are all around or over 100kg and very fast. Brown has played his best football and fullback and proven himself to be very solid on kick returns. Plus it keeps Moltzen at half-back which I think is our best option going forward.

Lote Tuqiri signs for Wests Tigers

QUEENSLAND'S backline: breaking records one year - adding Lote Tuqiri the next.

The Wests Tigers confirmed the worst-kept secret in rugby league yesterday when they announced the signing of discarded Wallabies winger to a $1.2 million deal over three years.

Within hours of the club's revelation via their website, thoughts drifted towards the possibility of the 30-year-old playing for Queensland as they aim to win their fifth consecutive Origin series.

With Queensland and Broncos centre Justin Hodges sidelined with a ruptured achilles tendon, there is a chance of Tuqiri making his first appearance for his state since 2002.

"He is one of the best finishers in the game - in either code," Tigers coach Tim Sheens said. "In his discussions with us there was a real desire to play representative football again, which means he's coming here for the right reasons."

Tuqiri will join the Tigers in late March when his short-term stint with English rugby union club Leicester - which weighed in with an attractive offer for him to stay - ends.

Tuqiri said he was glad to have his future settled and was looking forward to returning to the NRL.

"There was plenty of speculation about my next career move," Tuqiri said. "I was really appreciative of the interest I received from a number of clubs which made my decision that much harder. I'm really excited to return to the NRL. There is no question it is one of the toughest sporting competitions in the world and I am confident Wests Tigers will enjoy great success in coming years."

The Daily Telegraph understands that a series of complicated third-party agreements convinced Tuqiri to return to the NRL but dragged out the negotiation process.

His signing came after three days of discussions involving Tigers boss Stephen Humphreys, who has been in England trying to seal the deal. There has been a volley of emails and calls between the Tigers boss and NRL CEO David Gallop, as well as salary cap auditor Ian Schubert, who has been in Auckland this week.

"It has been a lesson in getting salary-cap approval well before you do a contract instead of the back-end of negotiations," Gallop said.

Humphreys slammed the suggestion that the deal was done in October, which would have been in breach of salary cap-rules.

"I denied it then, and I deny it now. The fact is, it was done in the last couple of days. To say it was done any earlier is wrong."

Gallop also revealed he had spoken to Tuqiri about his termination from the ARU last year for disciplinary reasons - and was satisfied he was of suitable character for the game.

"I'm satisfied that would not preclude him from being registered to play in the NRL," Gallop said. "But because it is the subject of a confidentiality arrangement with the ARU it is not appropriate for us to disclose."
