id like to see him play in the centres if he signs with us. i agree 300,000 is allot for a winger but i guess if u take away third party payments he might only cost us 200,000 which wouldnt hurt so much.
When robbie resigned, im sure he demanded a say in the tigers signings, this would be his first yr if true so well done robbie if u have helped pull off tuqiri, lima and even cayless. fingers crossed an announcement will be made soon.

$600k for two years they mentioned on BSB.

How about some front rowers?

So what are Cayless and Lima….????

I just hope we havent compromised our forwards signings to snare Lote.
Seems odd that we would sign Daniella, Brown & Tupou….I doubt we'd have got all those sigs had Tuquiri been a priority all along...seems to me he's an opportunistic sig much like Ellis was.
Im not against him signing, would like him at fullback with Moltzen back to 7 and Taumata at 14 possibly....I just hope we dont miss out on props to snare yet another outside back, of which weve signed plenty already.

Understand, but the fact is that Wests Tigers have relied on talent to develop for the years following 05, and it hasn't got us far. We have got rid of some of the more "experienced" players and we really need someone who has been proven at every level.

Reason we havent made the semis since 2005 is to much flashy play including speculators and dropped ball at the wrong time. Not enough attention to the detail as teams like Melb do and Dragons did this year early on.

The older plyers that have moved on were a blessing I only miss Scott Prince and Hodgo.

i'd suggest its more not enough flashy play.. we've tried to play a more melbourne style instead of the throwing the ball around style..
plus team selections as someone else mentioned.

Thought I'd google Lote's name to see if there is anything else re his signing and found this he just posted on twitter:

massive call from Sydney press today re myself and my future. They were right re my management meeting them 2day, but that's about it..

Is this ominous news or good news that he has confirmed meeting with tigers management?

Tuqiri to join Wests
Updated: 06:46, Friday October 9, 2009
Dual international Lote Tuqiri is set to announce his return to rugby league with Wests Tigers.

Tuqiri has been in talks with Tigers officials for the past few weeks and will meet with the club again on Friday, when it's understood he will sign off on a two- or three-year deal.

Tuqiri's contract will be back-ended to ensure the Tigers meet their salary cap requirements for 2010.

The 30-year-old's future has been up in the air since he was sacked by the Australian Rugby Union in July for a breach of conduct.

NRL boss David Gallop would need to rubber stamp Tuqiri's return after indicating he wanted to know the full circumstances behind the ARU's decision to terminate the winger's contract.

Both the ARU and Tuqiri have declined to go public with the reason behind his sacking.

A source close to the Tigers told Sportal on Thursday night: 'It's pretty much a done deal and if everything goes to plan on Friday then Lote will be in a Wests Tigers jumper next year.'

Tuqiri travelled to Europe shortly after his sacking to gauge interest from French rugby clubs but was unable to land a contract.

A return to the NRL, where he starred for the Broncos between 1999-2002, loomed as his only viable option

With his young family located in the Balmain area, Tuqiri was keen to finalise a deal with the Tigers.

Game of cat & mouse at the moment. This reminds me of the drawn out saga that A.I(Allen Iverson) put the media & fans through before he signed with the Grizzlies in the NBA. Will he or wont he? with whom? When? :deadhorse:

I guess we will know soon enough either way…....

The Tigers have put forward two offers for Tuqiri - a pre-Christmas contract and a post-Christmas deal, which would allow him a lucrative short stint with European or Japanese rugby union.

Didnt the NRL prevent Benji from exploring this avenue?
I dont think its permissable under the cap.

Gallop indicated that it would be acceptable for Tuqiri as the circumstances are different. Not too sure of the logic but that was the justification.

ReallY??
Terrific…did you hear that on Gibbsy & Brandy?
I only caught the tail end of it.

I can see their logic. Lote is coming back to the game after years out, it doesn't look too bad for the game. Where as when a current superstar misses a few months of the season to play overseas, then comes back it's just not a good look.

Ink,

It was published a long time ago. This part rugby idea was first floated about a month ago and Gallop indicated he wouldnt oppose it then.

Magic,

I dont think that something being "not a good look" is a legitimate basis to restrict a party's freedom to contract. But that might just be the lawyer in me.

Hmmm…the way they were talking on radio sounded as if gallop said its a no goer, as I said I didnt hear it all and not sure if they actuially got gallop on...but they did want to find out the difference between marshall & tuqiri

Lote just tweeted again…

meeting with the Tigers went well by the way Tweeps.. Tiger fans should be happy with who u have running your club..
less than a minute ago from mobile web

sounds very promising.

perhaps Gallop has changed his view in this respect. I distinctly remember he said, a month or so ago, that he wouldnt have a problem with it.

Indeed. I wasnrt a big fan of the Tuqiri signing when it was first floated but I have to admit I am getting excited about seeing him at fullback.

Oh by the way in light of Tuqiri's positive comments about the club, Balmain Bug and his cohort where art thou.
