I just emailed 2UE asking them to repeat what gallop said re Tuqiri, Benji, playing ra ra and the cap, theyre going to get to it…he hasnt been on yet

They said WTs cannot offer him a contract that contains a clause to have another contract, ie: he cant play rugby and earn the big bucks and then come and play for us….same as what Marshall wanted.

meeting with the Tigers went well by the way Tweeps.. Tiger fans should be happy with who u have running your club..

Is he talking about Sheens or Humphreys?

Given that every bad thing that happens to the club is attributed to Sheens by the cohort one would assume that the good things would be as well. No but of course that would be fair.

Magic,

I dont think that something being "not a good look" is a legitimate basis to restrict a party's freedom to contract. But that might just be the lawyer in me.

Probably not. Wasn't Gallop a News soliciter during the SL War? I'm sure he could think of some way of backing it up.

a few months ago, gallop said that lote can go play anywhere he wanted as long as he has not come to an agreement with an NRL club or signed a contract. as far as lote is concerned he is not contracted to the NRL in any way so he can go overseas for a stint in union n then come back and sign with the tigers. the reason benji was not allowed to do that was coz he was still contracted to the tigers and they were trying to include the overseas option into his new contract. i dont mind gallop, but he can be a goose sometimes.

Oh the way the codes rules are drafted I am somewhat confident they can legally do this (or at least nobody would challenge them on it). Doesnt mean that it sits comfortably with me from an intellectual perspective.

Ink, that is interesting and suggests a change in approach by the NRL. Could they do a Fulton and just not "contract" Tuqiri until he finishes his stint in Japan. - on a second reading of Ink's post this seems to be what they are doing so the rest of my post is now pointless (probably was anyway)

sounds very promising.

Indeed. I wasnrt a big fan of the Tuqiri signing when it was first floated but I have to admit I am getting excited about seeing him at fullback.

Oh by the way in light of Tuqiri's positive comments about the club, Balmain Bug and his cohort where art thou.

Here I am !! How can I help you Simonthetiger ?

On the rugby/league controversy - consider the life span of the player - until the age of 30-32, which equates to max 10 years of top notch financial reward at most. In these years many of them need to reap their whole-of-career financial rewards. Given the link between the two codes (and the poaching) I wouldn't be surprised if a co-ordinated on-off-season swap approach becomes more common - and Lote may be the precedent. GO LOTE!!

Coming from a dual international who has signed and negotiated contracts of the hghest order - that is a fairly big wrap for our club. Lt's hope it comes to fruition.

1\. Lote Tuquiri
2\. Taniela Tuiaki
3\. Blake Ayshford
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Geoff Daniela
6\. Benji Marshall
7\. Tim Moltzen

That could well be the slickest back-line in the NRL.Please let it be true!!!!!!!!!

LOL Geoff Daniela he couldn't even make panthers first grade.. hate to say it Id prefer Ryan there or the turtle Mitch Brown

I was thinking about this over lunch. Obviously people\'s first reaction to the possibility of us snaring Lote is to put him at fullback. But perhaps there are other options that could be utilise his size? I\\\'m talking about putting Ayshford on the wing. That would be an entire 3/4 line over 100kgs!

1\. Mullaney
2\. Tuiaki
3\. Lawrence

Why doesn't any one want ryan in their back line, i really hope he has an awesome off season and holds his position! I Think sheensy made the comment about possibly putting lote at winger then a mid season move to full back because Tuiaki is likely to still be recovering. Hope he recovers quick cos i would love to see lote field a bomb and offload to the wrecking ball!!!! would be so good!!!!

Yeah, I'm still scratching my head to work out we signed Daniela and Brown. I hope Im wrong next year and they do prove good buys.

It will certainly be a backline with Tuqiri there. Well done to the Tigers for actually getting out there and chasing a big name player and freeing up the money to do so.

I think if Lote is at fullback, then Ryan should get the wing. He finished off 2009 very well I thought. I rate him over Tupou, Brown and Dani California.

As usual, Lote has managed to put everyone in a frenzy over where he's signing. The guy knows what he's doing, but he drags it on because he's a tool.
