My guess is that loti will start off at wing, then when he moves to fullback moltzen will come to the centres for blake ayshford. I think they will leave arana at half and not move that position around too mouch so that he and benji can get a bit of cohesion together. Thoughts??

My concern with Lote….is his loss of speed.....Sheens will turn him into a backrower, he will get injured in that position and sit out on the injury bench for most of his contract....at least on the wing, he can play there another 4 years, but can he finish off the tries. 😕 😕 The jury is out....he is more a marketing exercise than the vitsl positions that are needed at the Tigers...ball wrecking props

I hate the idea of Moltzen in the centres. To me he's clearly a 5/8 who can also play 7 and 1 quite well, but not centre.

I am a huge Tahs fans as well as a Tigers fan. This loss of speed allegation is a myth. Maybe Lote is not as fast as he was when he was 17 but he is still quick. He'll go fine.

Lotes speed loss is no myth.
If you go back to 2005 Wallabies vs Italy he scored 4 meat pies by running around the oppostion each time.No way cld he do that today.
He was actually caught from behind a couple of times playing for West harbour!
No slouch, but no speedster these days either…& most rah rah fans know it.

Hmm we were favourites to sighn Burgess to but that didnt eventuate, hope the same thing doesnt happen again here i really have my hopes built up again.

I think the quality of the opposition might tell you something. Unfortunately my passion for rugby is not enough to get me down to club games so have no knowledge of him getting run down playing for west harbour.

I'm actually hearing some rumblings from a mate's mate who is involved with the club. Apparently the signing is looking positive.

The funny thing he said to me though was that Lote would be playing centre, and they are thinking about Ashford in Fullback!? I can't see this happening, but I could see how it could work. Sheens has always been looking for someone with size and speed to run the ball back and it would be an easy transition for Lote.

Probably a bogus rumour, but thought I would share it.

Thanks for the info Hammertime. I think if he does sign, he will be playing fullback.

I can see some credence in it. Blake has more pace, has size, solid defence and can develop skills there. Lote is old and it will keep consistent with his usual game (rather than building him into something that he is not). Plus it coincides with Benji's recent quote about having him on one side, with Tui on the other.

BUT, I don't think the Tigers would pay over the odds for a centre. Thats the only part that gets me.

We will be introuble if he plays centre. He would be the NRL's best turnstyle. He's been playing union for ages now & he has made bugger all tackles since switching codes.
Wing or fulback only please

No doubt Italy Rugby have never been world class in defence, but the issue is Lotes pace or lack thereof these days compared to what it once was.The contributing factor I believe is his body shape ,which has changed markedly in the past 4 or 5 years,& he is much more top heavy these days.
Having said all that,as an avid Waratahs fan too,he was still one of their best half dozen or so in 09 & his power was often a handful for oppostion defences…but his try scoring rate has diminished significantly in recent years because he can no longer readily convert a half-gap into a try.Thats exactly why Deans doesnt rate him.
I think at 30 he is going down the same path as the big Dell(35)where power & experience are increasingly his fortes.
With these traits & his promotional potential hed still be a handy asset to the Tigers at the rite price, but unlike the past where he was one of the first opicked he wouldnt make a full stregth Kangaroos team (with Slater/Hayne/Folau)these days as I just dont think hes the player he once was.
Personally I think he'll sell out to European or Jap Rugby anyway, allowing us to buy the grunt upfront we really need

Lote just posted another tweet in relation to the where he is at in relation to a deal with us.

@LoteTuqiri hows the tigers deal coming along
\

@JABOWITZ still in dialogue with the club mate, so that's where i'm at..

So no real news but at least things are still progressing.

I just wish we would hear one way or the other on these signings seems like to be dragging along to long
