Lote's most welcome

Wests Tigers superstar Benji Marshall has welcomed news of rugby convert Lote Tuqiri possibly returning to the NRL with the Tigers, saying his signature would give the joint venture club the most devastating left- and right-edge attacks in the competition.
>
''I think it would be great for the game to see Lote Tuqiri come back to rugby league,'' Marshall said. ''If he's seriously interested in coming back … it'd be great to have him in our team. Taniela Tuiaki one side and Lote Tuqiri the other. He's a devastating player.''

Benji….puts in his 2 bobs worth.........On the wing.....what about Beau.......C'mon Lote make up your mind......

Ryan is a centre and might get a start there next year.

You have high hopes

This is my two bobs worth…

Lote is trying to up his price with the intention of most likely going to rugby overseas.

From what i can gather there has been conflicting reports about the $$$$............

The _Wests Tigers say Lote Tuqiri's past is no obstacle as they aim to sign him_ article suggests that Lote would only be on minimum wage next year but propped up by third party.... and in the latter stages of his contract receive more.

What confuses me is the fact that the _SMH_ has stated that Lote would be on around 250-300K over the length of his contract whether that be 2 or 3 years.

The article from the _daily Telegraph_ seemed to suggest that Lote was a done deal... If Lote signs somewhere else they're going to be made to look stupid.

If we don't sign Lote, the ill-informed goose who stated Lote is "95 % done" should be executed...

It seems ridiculous that we would only have that amount of money left in the cap.... While being linked in the media to 3 players.... What are they all going to take 30k to play for us?

On the ARU dispute.... Lote should not have to spoon feed them (NRL) about what happened...

Wasn't David Gallop or one of his colleagues reading the Daily Telegraph on the 6th of September detailing what Lote did wrong?

I was interested in the article in the SMH said we can only offer Lotte a minimal contract topped up by a third party sponsorship deal, this indicates to me we must have some serious dollars directed else here. So maybe the Lima and Cayles thing is going to happen.

Thats the beauty of having someone like Benny Elias looking out for the club. We're giving Lote 55k of salary cap money, but he's probably gonna make near 250k a year when 3rd party deals are taken into account.

So maybe Lote will play for us for two years. What happens if Moltzen or Arana, the two earmarked to make way for him, go on to other clubs and have hugely successful careers spanning 10 years. Would Lote be considered a good signing then? If we win the comp in that time then yes, he would be. But if we dont, i reckon the chances are Lote will be a dud buy.

All hypothetical, and no one really can know what will happen, but if it was my call, i'd back the young guy's and make sure we got one or 2 of the props mentioned. Stuff Lote, we have the attack, what we need is the foundation.

From his twitter. Sounds like Dene Ritchies "95 %" chance is BS.

direct quote FROM Lote:

massive call from Sydney press today re myself and my future. They were right re my management meeting them 2day, but that's about it..

As I said earlier, it looks like - as per usual - the journos are just guessing.
You shouldnt take too much notice of the media.

that was written on Friday morning. Tuqiri then sent another "tweet" in the afternoon after the meeting which was very glowing of our management. All this has been referred to in this thread.

Where has it been suggested that Moltzen and Arana will make way? I am very, very confident that Sheens will never let Moltzen go willingly. He treats him similarly to how he treated Fizty for so many years (his go to man to plug a spot), the only difference is that Moltzen is actually a good player.

I've looked at his site, he basically says:

1\. The daily terror is full of crap. I am meeting them, but there's no 95% done deal.
2\. I met with the Tigers, they have great management.

That's basically it. There's nothing to say it's as close to being done as the daily terror are making out.

Its been stated that Lote will be signed as a fullback and if we do get him it will mean Moltzen will move to the halves. It has also been reported (which may not be true) that Lote would start on the wing and then move to fullback. If this was to happen, then that would mean Moltzen would start the year at 1\. I think its safe to assume Arana would then be the 7\. So depending on form, one of those would have to make way. I'd hate to lose a young guy for Lote. But as Ink highlighted for u, my comment is purely hypothectical.

I dont disagree with what you are saying there at all. Dont forget that Terror's source was a Tigers insider. The tigers may consider it 95% even if Lote does not.

Either way I have seen a few signs which leads me to feel confident. Either way I think we will have a great squad next year.

I think we will see Arana at 14 for most of the year. Although full back is Sheens intention for Lote im sure he wll base his final decision on form. If we won the first 8 with Lote on the wing I dont think you will see any changes.

The terror said they had a Tigers source that the Lima deal was "done" and quoted a Tigers source 3 weeks ago. That's BS.

The terror also said mid season that Benji and Robbie were fighting / not speaking. (Rothfield). BS again.

The daily terror "sauces" = they read the LU forums or radio gossip and roll with whatever is there.

a friend's husband ran into tim sheens on the weekend & asked him a few things, such as who is playing fullback? the response being 'hopefully Lote & we should know within a week'.

the real interesting quote that came back to me (unfortunetly she couldn't tell me what context it was all said in, i.e what questions were asked for him to say this) was that he expects moltzen to be in the running for the blues halfback spot next year.

keeping in mind sheens' quote about lote being on the wing, surely he wouldn't expect moltz to make origin hb if he'd been playing fullback for the first part of the season.

of course this all came from some dude talking to sheens in the street & then being relayed through a wife that may well mis-hear some important details (ive got to think he means in the future), but still it put some doubt into my belief that moltz will be starting fullback next year.

seems a little far fetced re Moltzen

Well considering this years halves will be in nursing homes that time next year, and the tigers will be top of the table, I would say it is not too far fetched

Go tigers.

My guess is that loti will start off at wing, then when he moves to fullback moltzen will come to the centres for blake ayshford. I think they will leave arana at half and not move that position around too mouch so that he and benji can get a bit of cohesion together. Thoughts??
