What's Doing? with Vossy

Tigers warm favourites to sign Lote to a 1 year deal….....stay tuned....

 Shows how much Vossy knows….... 😕

Geeze there's some hopes being built up here.
Burgess almost a given according to another thread & Lote as well according to this one.

I'm pretty doubtful but wouldn;t it be nice having other clubs accusing us of having 'creative' accountants for once.

No Offence, but why would you put the young pom in the side when the kid has only played for Wigan due to injuries. He has to prove himself first.
And unless there is amjor attitude change in lauire, that bloke will not be playing 1st grade any time soon.
I would love to dream but i dont get my hopes up with either Burgess or Tuqiri signing.

i would take tuquiri but only if he was on the same wage as other wingers

So we have people saying that we have too many back rowers and now you saying we dont have any locks???
Sorry mate, I am just going to have disagree with you on this one- no offence.
Rhino played well at lock last week and that is where he should be playing. I reckon Galea will get resigned and move into the 2nd row.
Payten can still cover both prop and backrow although I do agree with you he is no lock forward.
We have good young blokes who have done the hard yards that can play back row also in Gower, Aprkia, Farlow and not forgetting liam fulton (if he comes back).
Hyland needs a season or 2 in reserve grade to bulk up abit and just work on his ball skills abit. No doubting the kid can defend.
I reckon the young pom will be good back up but he still needs to put in the hard yards first. Dont expect him to be playing 1st grade until at least middle of next year if at all.

i would like to see: (if we actually get Tuquiri and Burgess)

1.Tuamata
2.Tuiaki
3.Ayshford
4.Lawrence
5.Tuqiri
6.Marshall
7.Moltzen
8.Burgess

12.Ellis
13.Mataka

14.Flanagan
15.Payten
16.Laurie
17.Gibbs

I think Flanagan could be the perfect #14 because he can play in the backrow, but also as a utility for the halves. I would like Lui to play First Grade but can't really find a spot for him. Maybe have Mataka in reserve grade, Ayshford at lock and Lui in the cenres.

**Lote Tuqiri in shock talks with Wests Tigers
Dean Ritchie | August 22, 2009 12:00am**

WESTS Tigers rugby league have emerged as the shock favourites to sign former Wallaby sensation and Broncos State of Origin flyer Lote Tuqiri.

The Courier-Mail can reveal Tuqiri and Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens held further talks on Thursday after opening discussions earlier in the week.

The move indicates Tuqiri is now ready to make a return to the National Rugby League.

Sources close to the Wests Tigers claim Tuqiri is keen on signing with the club although he has also attracted strong interest from French rugby union clubs.

Tuqiri was sacked by rugby union last month, losing a $2 million contact.

He has started started legal proceedings against the Australian Rugby Union, alleging unfair dismissal.

The case is set to return to court next month.

A former Brisbane, Queensland and Kangaroos winger, Tuqiri could not expect an NRL deal worth any more than $200,000 a season.

"I know Tim has spoken to Lote on the phone earlier this week," Wests Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys said yesterday.

"They were looking to hook up.

"We were looking to start (discussions) this week but it may take a little while.

"We have to find out whether Lote is interested in playing in the NRL.

"If there is interest from both sides, maybe we can sit down and sort something out that both sides would be comfortable with."

Tuqiri plays club rugby with Wests Harbour, who share the same training ground as the Tigers, Concord Oval.

"I have said before we would definitely be interested if there was interest from both parties," Humphreys said.

"I think it is important for Lote to do what he wants to do because he has been through a bit lately.

"He has taken time out to spend with his family."

Tuqiri's manager Les Ross was not answering his phone or returning calls yesterday.

But Tigers legend Steve Roach said his former club would certainly welcome the former Wallaby.

"If Lote wants to come back to rugby league, I'd love to see him at the Tigers," Roach said yesterday.

"He is a great player who would again prove to be a sensational rugby league player. I'm sure he would fit in at the Tigers and prove a fantastic buy."

All these articles are confusing the hell out of me… We've given up the case... No we haven't, we're still chasing his signature. I'll believe it when I see him (& the English players) in a Tigers jersey

Can i just ask how many players do we have on next seasons top 25?? Because i dont think we have enough money for this Burgess bloke as well as Turqiri. Burgess at least 300g and turqiri around 175-200g and i don't think we have that money for next year. BUt in all seriousness, should have left Lui and Dwyer in the 20's so it frees up a little bit of cash and not worry about Daniela and Brown. Although hes 30 odd, Turqiri great asset to the team great runner, still quick, strong and ggreat in the air!! Him and Tui great 2-5 combo but poor ryan would be a little left out after having his best season! Been one of our best.

Imagine if Tuqiri played fullback - Would have the 3 biggest back 3 in the comp, Tuiaki-Tuqiri-Tupou (TTT)

Lote would be a one year deal
burgess would be a 2011 signing.
So they prob won't be playing which each other which is a shame.

Tuqiri signing with us will make lthe disappointment of losing Tagive non existent

This could turn out to be our most significant signing yet. Think of the money he will bring into the club, and to a certain extent, other players.

I just hope it's not all talk 😛ray:
