Lote Tuqiri thread

I don't think I have posted a single item in this thread …................ but the time has come for the club to come out and make its position clear.

I'm not knocking the bloke if he decides to come round 6, or if he decides to stay in union. However, it is starting to look a bit desperate on our behalf and even though we are talking about a high profile player and having to court him ......................... lets not prostitute ourselves too much longer.

S Humphries needs to come out and say,

- We have signed him
- We are no longer in interested

Lets put it to bed either way.

Blah blah blah lote blah blah $$$ blah blah my insider at wt told me blah blah blah!
Thats all we here on this thread BS BS BS, glad he is not coming!

Here's a thought.

How about eveyone gets rid of the whole old ladies knitting group attitude, stop the worrying and let what ever happens, actually happen.

People are saying the club looks desperate? The club hasn't said a word about Lote Tuqiri in ages, so the whole bi-polar attitude a number of people are displaying about LT is getting…actually, has gotten, very old.

i like the nana knitting group idea more…
its just silly to keep the fans in the dark for such a long time..the novelty has just worn off for me, im sick of waiting for a 30 year old winger...

Awesome post…...well said.

Now lets resume the hysteria!!!!

Hmmm , with the Tigers spin doctors working overtime with Josh Rakic , writing up positive articles with Robbie & Liam in the Sunday Telegragh today , could the confirmation of Lote not being in a Wests Tigers jersey, be not too far away…..

Anyway, being a very superstitious person, I just hoping that this thread is resolved/or closed in another 44 posts , when it hits 2010 Posts...Ha Ha , loved that song...maybe Stevie knew all along

Very superstitious, writings on the wall,
Very superstitious, ladders bout to fall,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past.

When you believe in things that you dont understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition aint the way

Very superstitious, wash your face and hands,
Rid me of the problem, do all that you can,
Keep me in a daydream, keep me goin strong,
You dont wanna save me, sad is my song.

When you believe in things that you dont understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition aint the way, yeh, yeh.

Very superstitious, nothin more to say,
Very superstitious, **the devils on his way**,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin glass,
Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past

When you believe in things that you dont understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition aint the way, no, no, no

Yeah, I agree…theres almost a desperation displayed by some on here....youd think we were talking about Inglis or Thurston.

However...another thought, look at the interest generated in this thread.....in real time, it will be duplicated many many times over resulting in members, bigger crowds, merchandise etc - should he sign.

TNT is going to be out until round 4 and it could be as late as round 6.

There's also the likelihood that he'll be a long way behind with fitness + speed after his injury (which was horrific)

Our wing stocks suddenly look pretty dire with TNT out and Tuqiri either not coming or round 6 at the earliest.

It sounds like the old 'insider news', however i was informed last night that Lote will be signed very soon and WILL BE HERE FOR ROUND 1.

It sure does sound like it! Who is your contact that informed you? Also how many beers were consumed?

Whether it be Lote or any other major signing, i expect after releasing Morris,Collis,Halatau,Galea,Payne,Trimarchi,Hanbury,Laurie that our Gains would be more than Daniela,Brown,Moors,Cayless,Taumata and Flanagan. It looks like a lot more money has been released than what's been purchased. If another major signing does not eventuate we have over-paid or poorly managed our recruitment…..again.

You need to add Tupou, Fulton & Fitzhenry to the gains.
That way instead of your 8 losses & 6 gains (in the red)

….its 8 losses and 9 gains. (in da black)

I have always been fairly skeptical to be honest, you only need to ask Souths fans if they thought he would be there a few years back also. A lot can happen in a short time in league and I think anyone that was/is certain he was coming here were possibly just hoping more than anything. There is no reason why it wouldn't be announced by now and the club would be pushing for it to increase ticket sales surely? I see no sense in holding of on an announcement.

Either way Lote or not I think the club has recruited extremely well this year and we are about to see a greatly improved tigers side in 2010, you could see great improvement by the end of last season. Lote or not 2010 will be one of the better ones.

Wendell Sailor believes Lote Tuqiri will return to the NRL

By Ed Jackson
January 27, 2010

Former NRL and rugby union star Wendell Sailor says fellow dual international Lote Tuqiri is unlikely to stay with English rugby club Leicester.

Tuqiri has recently been reported to be contemplating extending his stay in English rugby union rather than return to play rugby league with Wests Tigers.

But Sailor, a former Queensland State of Origin, Kangaroos, Wallabies and NSW Waratahs teammate of Tuqiri, can't see the 30-year-old staying with the English Premiership-leading Tigers.

"The last time I chatted with him he'd just played in the snow and he wasn't real keen on the winter conditions," Sailor said.

"I asked him if NRL was an option and he said it's definitely an option especially after seeing what myself and Mat Rogers have done the past couple of years."

"But he doesn't give too much away Lote."

"I think for him and his family it (England) is a nice place to go to for a little bit of a, I wouldn't say vacation, but a change."

"If he's going to go anywhere I think he'd look to come home or France. I don't know for sure but I don't think the cold conditions and big Fijians mix."

Regardless of Tuqiri's decision, Tigers coach Tim Sheens told Sky Sports Radio on Wednesday he's hoping to know what his target's intentions are within the next two or three days.

And Sailor, for his part, feels returning to the competition where Tuqiri originally made his name with the Brisbane Broncos makes the most sense for his good mate.

"He'll be fresh and just wanting to prove something you know?" Sailor said.

"I just think if the Tigers get him or any other club gets him, it's a great opportunity for him and a great opportunity for the club."

"We're in good shape - rugby league - at the moment, and I just think with Lote Tuqiri it would get even better."

LOTE Inc.. will go to where the biggest cash payout is

I doubt that's us because from all indications he should have confirmed by now.

he obviously has suiters with deeper pockets charming him.

**The defector who came in from the cold: Tuqiri's return imminent**

GLENN JACKSON

January 28, 2010

THE saga of Lote Tuqiri and Wests Tigers is all but over. The club is set to finalise the signature of the dual international within days - and he might turn out for them sooner than expected.

The Herald understands Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys left the country last night for Britain, where he is expecting to confirm the signing of the 30-year-old.

Negotiations between the NRL club and Tuqiri, who is playing rugby union in England with Leicester, have been ongoing since midway through last year, and it appears the Tigers will finally net their man, who was sacked by the Australian Rugby Union controversially last year.

Club chiefs have been attempting to have the deal cleared by the NRL's salary cap auditor Ian Schubert for several months, but it is understood the Tigers are now in a position to officially sign Tuqiri, in what would be a significant boost for the code. He would join other high-profile defectors Wendell Sailor and Mat Rogers in returning to league after extended stints playing rugby.

Tuqiri has enjoyed success with Leicester, with speculation emerging last week he might extend his deal with the club, but that now appears unlikely. Wests Tigers had initially hoped to unveil Tuqiri after the conclusion of Leicester's season in May, but there are now suggestions he could be available much earlier. Leicester Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill last week revealed Tuqiri's contract with his club runs out at the end of March, opening the door for Wests Tigers to lure him home just a few weeks after the club's season-opening game against Manly.

Confirmation of Tuqiri's signing would be a significant boost to the Tigers on the eve of the new NRL season. The club has not reached the finals since winning the premiership in 2005, and many have felt they are one strike weapon away from being in a position to repeat those feats. Tuqiri would fill that void.

Sailor, Tuqiri's former Brisbane and Wallabies teammate, certainly believes Tuqiri will be in the NRL this season.

''The last time I chatted with him he'd just played in the snow, and he wasn't real keen on the winter conditions,'' Sailor told AAP.

''I asked him if NRL was an option, and he said it's definitely an option, especially after seeing what myself and Mat Rogers have done the past couple of years.''
