 Come on people, put it together - the Club issues statement to shut people up and tempararily end specualtion so that we could all focus on the Aussie game and our star player making his debut.
Coach Sheens locked this deal in at the end of July - then concentrates on National Team duties. We all know that with him being under fire so much he was NEVER,EVER going to allow for this announcement to be made while he was out of the country and not in all the photos/press etc. That's not a go at him,it's bloody shrewd business sense on his part and the Club's.Expect nothing until after the Aussies get back. If Lote goes o/s it will be for a minor guest spot and then he will be back, but you can't blame the guy for trying to earn a bit of cash on the side!
Meanwhile, season 2010 starts this week back at Camp Concord,so we won't have long to wait until the pre season gets under way 100% :righton:

One of the better posts in this thread. :sign:

Yet to find an argument in a willow post yet. Great points made mate!

i cant wait for next year, there WILL BE NO EXCUSES we have a very formidable team, anything short of top 6 is unacceptable

Yeah Moh he isn't a very good fullback at all.

He gets caught out of position a lot, never runs the ball back - in fact he usually opts to pass to a winger who is in a worse position than he is and he never attacks the ball.

He has to start and stay at halfback for the entire year for us to kick on into the finals. If he plays at the back we will struggle again…

Hmm, defensively he does have some issues - in terms of positioning. I'm not arguing the fact he's a better half, but for a half back playing fullback he did very well IMO. Of course defensively he had some learning to do. On attack I'd say he was _one_ of the best in the comp for the period of time he played there, behind Hayne and Dugan (perhaps a couple more) in terms of meters gained. I'm pretty sure his stats show that? Correct me if I'm wrong, my memory isn't the best and I can't be bothered checking!

this whole lote saga is doing my head in.

This thread has recieved huge interest over a player who has not played league in years, he is coming to the Tigers to retire so he ain t going to get any better or younger, if we can get him cheap great, but buggered if i know why there is so much hype,

bring on Lima i say

ummm hes a dual international and one of the highest profile athletes in australia, over the years so many have complained about not getting the top quality high profile players and we snag one of the biggest names ever and people like you dont understand whats the big deal with it?

some are never happy.

he is a dual international your right but i mean you got to be kidding yourself if you think he is coming here with the right intentions.
who cares what he has done in the past its what he has to offer in the future and to be honest he hasnt played league in quite a few years nor is he getting any younger or better.
He may be a grerat marketing tool but if thats what we are looking for why dont we sign David Beckham he would most probably be about as beneficial on the ground as Lote, actually he may be able to kick i will take that back

Cockerill not crowing about Tuqiri

Richard Cockerill made a brave attempt to throw the media off the scent of the main story at Welford Road on Saturday evening, but the Leicester head coach was fooling no one.

Lote Tuqiri, the 67-times capped former Australia wing, has opted for a short-term contract with Leicester ahead of other offers from London Irish and Toulon. Tuqiri, who lost his central contract with Australia in July because of an alleged breach of the team's disciplinary code, is due to switch back to rugby league with the Western Tigers next year but he will be available to Leicester until the end of the Six Nations.

With an official announcement of Tuqiri's capture expected this week, Cockerill was reluctant to let the Tiger out of the bag. "I have no comment to make, it's not a story as far as I am concerned," he said, before adding: "If there are stories saying he has signed, then I'm delighted, but I haven't seen him yet."

Tuqiri's signing will bring significant experience to a squad that was reduced to the bare bones by international call-ups and injuries. So stretched were the Tigers that they recalled four players from loan deals with Championship clubs, and one of them, lock Calum Green, was thrown in for his first Premiership start when Richard Blaze withdrew with a recurrence of a foot injury.

Agree 100% with everything that you said about Moltzen.

Truer words have never been said.

Not convinced Molzten is a long term HB. He played well in that position but didnt do much in terms of organising. He also played well at fullback - good under the high ball, courageous with his body. Anybody who suggests he is a bad fullback give yourself an uppercut.

Is he a long term FB? im not convinced of that either but he is nowhere as bad as some suggest and nor is Gallant as good as some suggest. In my view Moltzen is neither a genuine HB nor a genuine FB but that doesnt mean he could not develop into a very good player in either position. Personally I thik FB is more likely as it is harder to develop the requisite skills of a HB.

In my book Moltzen is a genuine 5/8 and a bloody good one. I feel he could play state of origin if he was second fiddle to a dominant half.

As it is, I think he can be a very good half when he's got a dominant Benji inside him.

Leicester Tigers have completed the signing of Australia dual-code international winger Lote Tuqiri.
>
Tuqiri, 30, had his contract with the Australian Rugby Union cancelled in July, although the details were not revealed for legal reasons.
>
Since then, Tuqiri, who has signed a short-term deal at Welford Road, has played for Sydney side West Harbour.
>
Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill said: "He is a world-class player and is still hungry to achieve things."
>
Tuqiri, who will start training with his new team-mates this week, is expected to return to play rugby league in Australia with Wests Tigers in 2010 when his Leicester deal ends.
>
But Cockerill was thrilled to bring the powerful wing to the club at a time when the Tigers squad is being stretched to its limit by injuries.
>
"Lote has had interest from a lot of clubs around Europe," Cockerill said.
>
"To have someone of Lote's undoubted class available and interested in coming to Leicester is excellent news.
>
"He has been very successful at the top levels of the game and I'm sure our supporters are looking forward to seeing him in a Tigers shirt.
>
"Lote is a world-class player and is still hungry to achieve things in the game.
>
"Now we're looking forward to getting him into training and competing for a place in the team."
>
Fiji-born Tuqiri, who was also strongly linked with a move to Welsh side Ospreys, switched to rugby union in 2002 and played his Super 14 rugby in New South Wales with the Waratahs.
>
He has appeared in 67 Tests for Australia, scoring 31 tries - including one in the 2003 World Cup final against England.
>
Tuqiri said: "The club is always in the frame to win things and I still think I have a lot to achieve in rugby. I still have the ambition to play at the highest level and I still have the competitive edge.
>
"This is a new challenge, coming to a new league in a new country, and it is one I am really looking forward to. There are a lot of good players here and now I'm just looking forward to getting started."

So now we wait.

From twitter:

So Willie Mason has headed off to Japan to find a Union contract. Isn't he under contract to the Roosters?
What has Gallop said about this?

Willie Mason's situation is different. He has been told by Roosters management he is free to go anywhere. If he can get a gig with Japenese rugby they'll release him from the last year of his contract, then he'll be de-registered with the NRL.

Isnt he one year out of the Toyota Cup? Give him time. He has massive potential!

Is there any reason why he couldnt announce his attentions with wests soon. Now that he is contracted, there shouldnt be any rules by gallop to say that he has signed a deal with us. Should there?
