Lote Tuqiri thread

The drum roll just gets longer, and longer , and we all must be getting the feeling that a ugly dud is going to come through the curtains, when she finally runs on.

Whether he has signed already, or this is just a charade and he is stringing everyone along….I don't really care,as he is just a "big name Te'o" in my eyes.

As I said months ago, we have enough good young talented backs coming through...sign Lima, and another 2 props and let's just move on, and save the money and the grief

sorry Geo, my bad…

My apologies….wasn't having a go at you T Rexx .....in fact you have probably the one with the most sense in this whole Lortay's circus....

Calling for Anderson's reply is childish..... but goes to show how 'inside info' can blow up in peoples faces.....

It puts the Club in jepordy.....I hope to God Lote or the Club didnt look in here and think my god is that how the Club operates or is percieved to operate.....

I doubt the club would look here and wonder that….not sure about Lote.
But his manager would no doubt point out this:

But you are right on one point Geo, Ive wondered if this long running saga of rumour mongering hasnt spoilt WTs party somewhat if in fact he does eventually come on over and _step up_

The club reads EVERYTHING that goes on in here..

I can second that. They even formulate certain press releases to show certain prominate players agree with coaching / administerial decisions etc which are hotly debated / criticised on this forum.

Agree on Cayless….....jury is still out on Laurie...lets see what Elliott can do......

Great to know Folkes is on board......

So you don't believe what you are told Re Lortay anymore Bug.....

I have never been told one thing on the _Lotto_ Tiquiri issue. I have been told a fair bit about Lima but at the same time the same person who told me we definately had Lima would not in any way acknowledge anything about _Lotto_ and in fact said to me the very opposite as to what Anderson Silva was saying on here.

This thread is getting way to complex. I log on every couple of days and can't work out one way or another what is really happening. So as I say farewell to bothering I hope Lote finds happiness somewhere - but I hope not with the Tigers as I'm now believing that the money we'd throw at him could be better spent elsewhere - goodbye Lote!!

Wait and see. You are very confident that he is not coming and that no deal has been done. I am the opposite and expect to see him here. Everything that Lote has said in the last few days in my view validates that a deal has been done.

Time will tell who is right.

Regardless, in my view the club is heading in an excellent direction. Good times ahead.

A few things mate.

1\. He can't have signed. 100% he can't have. Why? Because any legal contract would need to be dated and the NRL won't register it if it's got October 2009 on it. So, he can't. It isn't legally possible.

He *may* have given his word….........or some sort of positive indication.

Just like the West Indian batsman who gave his word to Dave Gilbert and NSW cricket that he'd be coming to join them this season. (Three days later he signed for South Australia).

"My word" means nothing in modern sport.

2\. I am curious by how his words "I have no deal with Wests"........."I am open to extedning with Leicster"......"I may play for Fiji in the world cup" someone convince you he's joing us. LOL

He's a fiercely proud Fijian and his comments have become HUGE news back there..........why would he string along a whole country just so he can "cover up" his deal with Wests?

You blokes are dreaming.

As I said, he may join us...................if everything else falls through. His wife likes the area and his kids are in a very exclusive kindergarten in Balmain, so he's covering his bases by teeing up something with us in case he decides to come back to Aus. We are basically being used as his last option and strung along.

I actually don't have a problem with him doing that. He's a professional sportsman.

I do have a problem with us allowing this to happen. I spoke to a 50 year plus Tigers man today whose exact quote was "we are letting him treat us like the ugly girl at the prom. Desperate just for a smile from anyone".

This club is better than that. We should have said to him "go to Union...but don't expect us to be waiting. Sign this and committ now or the offer is withdrawn".

Last point, I agree with you. We are on track and have the kids coming through. From what I've heard about his "influence" on the young rugby guys..............we don't want him anyway.

I like many here cant work this out…the main problem I saw was Gallop not allowing us to sign him, with lote planing a short stint in yawnion...now he has signed a union contract, you would think Gallop would love to stand alongside our CEO and beat his chest, announcing that the NRL has poached another one back from the darkside as the AFL did when they poached Karmichael Hunt.....what would be the difference if the roosters announced tommorrow they had signed Johnny Wilkinson....I cant work it out :brick:

The talk about Lima was precise. He was talking like Lima would be here in 2010 and how he would be played within the squad. When I asked about Lotto this person shrugged his shoulders and said he knew nothing of any type of agreement at all. He acknowledged very limited dialogue between the two camps and hinted at how much money they could table but in no way did he say that any agreement was made at all. My source is on the coaching staff and is a bloke that is incapable of telling fibs. In his country drool, he just would have changed the subject if he did not want me asking about it. Now I have a second source whose services are hired by the club in a certain capacity. He too has not seen anything official come over the line concerning Lotto either.

What a waste of time this guy is, seriously we can use that 400000 grand or however much were willing to pay him and go for Lima, instead of getting storm to pay part of his salary. What a joke, i wish people would have some common sense and realise we need big boppers not guys that want to go to England then come down here to play, if he wanted to play for the WESTS tigers he would have signed already :deadhorse: :imp:

We cant use "That $400K" because the Tigers were only going to spend half that.

I actually think it was less than half of that.

Are we flogging a dead horse on Lote Tuqiri. However I hear Willie Mason is gone from the roosters here is WT chance to pick up a big go forward player (when he's on his game he is great). He will put some starch up front for WT.Cost to get maybe not as much as the other previous 2 Tuqiri and Lima….....

Thats the worst thing anyone has said on this forum. Give yourself a triple uppercut.

You want the tigers to go forward, not backwards. Enough said.

Totally agree,Lote, had his chance to sign with us,he wanted another huge money top up from union first,we should tell him this ship has sailed.
I hate how our club is allowing this bloke to dictate terms, you would think he was Slater,Inglis,Thurstan or Lockyer, but he is not,and he should be treated accordingly..
