Wait and see. You are very confident that he is not coming and that no deal has been done. I am the opposite and expect to see him here. Everything that Lote has said in the last few days in my view validates that a deal has been done.
Time will tell who is right.
Regardless, in my view the club is heading in an excellent direction. Good times ahead.
A few things mate.
1\. He can't have signed. 100% he can't have. Why? Because any legal contract would need to be dated and the NRL won't register it if it's got October 2009 on it. So, he can't. It isn't legally possible.
He *may* have given his word….........or some sort of positive indication.
Just like the West Indian batsman who gave his word to Dave Gilbert and NSW cricket that he'd be coming to join them this season. (Three days later he signed for South Australia).
"My word" means nothing in modern sport.
2\. I am curious by how his words "I have no deal with Wests"........."I am open to extedning with Leicster"......"I may play for Fiji in the world cup" someone convince you he's joing us. LOL
He's a fiercely proud Fijian and his comments have become HUGE news back there..........why would he string along a whole country just so he can "cover up" his deal with Wests?
You blokes are dreaming.
As I said, he may join us...................if everything else falls through. His wife likes the area and his kids are in a very exclusive kindergarten in Balmain, so he's covering his bases by teeing up something with us in case he decides to come back to Aus. We are basically being used as his last option and strung along.
I actually don't have a problem with him doing that. He's a professional sportsman.
I do have a problem with us allowing this to happen. I spoke to a 50 year plus Tigers man today whose exact quote was "we are letting him treat us like the ugly girl at the prom. Desperate just for a smile from anyone".
This club is better than that. We should have said to him "go to Union...but don't expect us to be waiting. Sign this and committ now or the offer is withdrawn".
Last point, I agree with you. We are on track and have the kids coming through. From what I've heard about his "influence" on the young rugby guys..............we don't want him anyway.
