Hmmm this hole saga is still up in the air but the good thing to come out of it is all the media coverage the club is getting from this!! Either way with or with-out him we have alot to look foward to and with the juniour talent we have coming through i can only see positives either way if we get Lote GREAT, but if not we have guys here that will do a great job maybe even better then Lote who knows!! But we wont have as much publicity!! Ill be happy either way cant wate for next year!!!! Great to support a club that is going in the right direction

Quickly Moderators, contact the Guinness Book of Records people. We’re getting close to a world record for the saying the same things about one subject.

Must be close lol the only problem is if Lote seen he broke a record he could add guiness book of records holder to his resume and then demand more money! (could cost us more lol) Can see it now dual international guiness book of record holder has a ring to it! who wouldnt want him then!

Because his move to union in England shows he is not interested in preparing for a 2010 Wests Tigers Premiership. At his age, he is no longer a one-man wrecking ball with pace. He would only prove useful if he formed combos with the other players over the off season, and shared some of his experience and showed leadership. **It just doesn't sit well when a player wants the bucks but not the commitment of a long hard off-season**.

so you dont think him playing union in the off-season will be useful for match fitness. Surely plaing on a weekly basis and being involved in on-season training for Leicester should be very good for his conditioning.

What I dont get is why people have reacted this way now. The club indicated a month ago it would be prepared to let him play union in the off-season. Why the reaction now? No one pretended that Lote wouldnt be playing union in the off-season if he signed with us.

I cant blame a guy for making a bit of money whilst he can. As a footy player he only has limited life-span. Cant really see Lote moving into media. Good on him for looking after his family IMHO. How does it show he isnt interested in playing with us in 2010? It shows nothing of the sort and those kind of statements are just dribble. All it shows is that he wants to play rugby in the off-season - nothing more, nothing less. If Benji was permitted to play rugby in Japan in the off-season would that indicate he didnt want to play with us in 2010? Of course, it doesnt. The question of whether Lote wants to play with us will be determined by whether he joins us, not because he wants to earn some money and have experience while he can.

What people dont understand is that Lote playing union in the off-season has provided us with the chance of getting and has reduced the amount we would need to pay him. Good bit of business in my view.

Yesterday I wrote a long response, and something went wrong and I lost the lot - don't you hate that

No, union is not good training for a season of league in either fitness or skills. Backs do barely anything. League players will use an off season to develop strength, speed, agility. You can not compare that to training midweek in english rugby. Yes, match fitness counts for something, but I doubt after a stint in rugby over there a player comes back supremely match fit for NRL.

I have changed my mind. Initially I wanted Lote to come and was hoping he would train the summer with the team, now I would like to express the opposite. Having thought about it more, I think I would prefer his spot is given to someone who is focused on October 2010 in November 2009\. Morale plays a big part in our game, and flown-in players can't be good for that. I want a tight knit unit taking the field in round 1\. You might say what about 2011, well Lote is not getting younger. He represents worse value each year on.

I can't blame him for wanting money. Good luck to him. It is simply my opinion that I don't want him at the tigers. I respect your opinion that you do.

In terms of sponsorship, yes he will bring a lot. But so will a successful team lead by Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah and whoever else in that pack who is capable of stepping up to stardom (Moltzen, Lawrence, Galloway…).

I highly doubt Lote will think that "I've made a lot in england, now I will do some charity work in the NRL". He will simply look for the best deal he can get after rugby, and if that is Wests Tigers due to a combination of lifestyle, challenge and money then I am sure he will go for it. Do not kid yourself that he will come here on the cheap cos he made some big bucks already.

If Lote comes, I will cheer for him as I will any tiger, I just don't see it as the best thing for the club at this stage.

Hard to argue with that Hbom.

I cant see how Lote playing Union and coming to us late is good for 1, our success and 2, team morale.

To me I'm not too fussed, I just wish I could look into the crystal ball and see two things -
How Tuiaki bounces back from his surgery and whether Tupou can regain the form he showed with the Broncos.
If these two are fit and firing I don't know if we really need Tuqiri.
The more I think about it in fact the more I think we should save the $'s
I won't be disspointed if he does comes but it won't be the end of the world if he doesn't.

I've said this before but if he comes, he comes, if he doesn't, he doesn't.

Do we need him? Not so much. He'd probably be more valuable off the field than on the field i'd say because of his profile. More of an investment rather than a player to improve the team.

Lote sold his house in Balmain

Really?
Provided Benji and Robbie stay fit, i believe we can be top 4 with or without Lote….......and to be honest, id prefer to make it with the likes of Moltzen and Taumata rather an expensive show pony import.

Interesting sighting. So does this thread get locked up, key thrown into the river?

Maybe if Lortay doesn't work out we can sell him too..... :stuck_out_tongue:

Lote selling his house is gee up, dont worry.

If we werent going to sign him don't you think we would have signed somebody else by now.
