Lote Tuqiri

We dont owe Lote anything.
**He's picked up around $1.2 mill for maybe a dozen first grade performances over 3 years at the back end of his career**,prior to which he was Rugbys highest paid player for many years(whivh btw resulted in a falling out with John Oneill ,who resented his reported $1+mill pa rem )
The new bloke has showed in 2 games exactly what Lote hasnt been offering for 2 seasons-pace & hunger.
We'd only employ Lote in a non playing role if there was a genuine role with a real need-he aint going broke anytime soon, believe me.
WT shld look to the future in its playing ranks..Id be appalled if an injury prone & inept 33yo Lote was re-signed in a playing role at the expense of the up & coming talent,& so shld we all

Are you kidding?

He came straight from playing union in Europe and played every single game of 2010 from R1 right up to our prelim final against Dragons. And then he went on tour as a starting player. He was in top form all year.

Despite his injuries last year he still came back and played a valuable role when it mattered.

This year he has shown very little and struggled constantly, but don't crap on the rest of his time here because its just unfair to the guy.

After the general consensus thus far by all forumers & their concerns on this issue I came to the conclusion that that Lote's mind is worth more than his body.

I can't find a place for Lote in the team for next year. I'd be promoting Koroibete and Nofoaluma to the top squad, and John Grant has shown steady improvement in the second half of the season might also be in with a shot next year if he continues to develop and improve.

Reasons counting against Lote are his lack of agility and acceleration, plus he has had some pretty serious injuries over the last two years, and as the body gets older, the injuries take longer to recover from. I just don't see the on-field value.

I always look forward to Lote coming out to play. He makes me feel a bit calmer when I'm watching so imagine how he makes the boys out on the field feel. I don't think that he would demand a high price now but I think that we should keep him around somewhere if not playing than get him out with the kids at schools. He seems to be a magnet for the kids.

I hope Loti and Weststigers management can come to an agreement that satisfies both parties. As a player, no worries!

Were both talking 2010 when he had his last good game,Mrs Tuquiri…
.we have much better future prospects

This year he has shown very little and struggled constantly, but don't crap on the rest of his time here because its just unfair to the guy.

I don't think we should resign him either.

But there is no need to crap on his time here saying he played "maybe a dozen first grade performances over 3 years" when thats clearly not true.

Keep things in reality and there is no issue.

And its spelt "Mrs Tuqiri"…..

Latest word in this week's RLW magazine suggests that the Tigers are prepared to offer Lote a 1 year deal on a substantially reduced contract.

Why not keep him for 1 more year on a very cheap contract and then next year make a big signing.

Because he takes up a spot on the wing that could go to someone else who could potentially be there for a long time ie Koroibete, Nofoaluma

He was a great signing when we got him, his body just isn't holding up though. I'd like to have him at the club in some role, he could help the younger kids coming up.

Were going to re sign one of them Lote Tuqiri Or Matt Utai lets wait and see.

If it was only that simple…!
If so,Utai is a no brainer-he's robust & plays almost every week,is a powerhouse close to the line,& does more than his fair share of taking the ball up,with impact.
In short(no pun intended!),he's still as effective as he was in his prime, unlike Lote sadly who in his prime was the best winger in either code.
Utais problem is he's simply too slow for a winger, defence is too shabby to be a a centre(plus he cant pass),BUT...the cld be best no 14 in the NRL as he can play anywhere except 1,7 & 9.

Utai can play broken as well.

If we re-sign this bloke , that will do me . This club prefers pensioners over our future .
We will definetley be known as the pensioners club if that occurs.

He just spoke on channel 10 he said he wants to stay with the tigers if not us he will still be playing next year for a club.

I am sure another club will be interested.

If I were an official at the WT, I couldn't in sound mind, offer Lote another contract. Given on the field we have not seen value for money on the pitch but he has been fantastic for the club off field and despite the apparent loss in ability (which I would attribute to a run of terrible injuries in 2011,) he still gives 100% which is what any of us could ask for.

2011 & 2012 Lote, Fitzy & Johnny Cronk have all come under stinging criticism here (I've even had a shot or two myself,) and while I get annoyed that they cannot meet the pace or skill of the NRL anymore, I can't be annoyed at their application and that's all a fan (particularly anyone who ever followed the Balmain Tigers or Wests Magpies,) could ever ask for.
