Lui

Cant believe how CT hooks you blokes every time  >

Yeah  He's pretty good, esp with the Ellis & Teo saga… needs a bigger boat does CT.

Thought he did ok with out been to flash. Sheens playing him on the right side only to ease him into first grade and the speed of the play. Had a lot of defence come his way, so I would think his tackle count would be high, missed a few tackles though and a couple of shirt grabs. Held his own though against the Sharks but will be tested against the Eels.

Welcome to first grade Lui

he probably talks to him self infront of the mirror for attenetion too

Solid debut by Lui. His defence was more physical than i expected. He's certainly a player of the future.

I cant decide between keeping him there next week or moving Moltzen back there with Hanbury at 1\. Lui will be really tested by Parra.

LMAO

He almost got me this time

I was about to become a keyboard warrier …...... Give the kids a break etc etc Blah Blah Blah

Until i saw who it was.

He wasnt used too much today. He didnt get his hands on the ball until the 3rd set. His first touch was in the 2nd set but that was only a 5th tackle kick. The try he set up in the corner was pretty good and shows he had the confidence to chance his arm (or boot) at somthing and not be too conservative.

Extremely solid without being brilliant. Did not try to over play his hand. Chimed in and played a traditional pivots role and got the job done accordingly. Handled the pressure that the Sharks threw his way in defence. Struggled with the pace a little, but grew with confidence as the game went on. Will definitely be better for it. Well done kid.

I dont know what all the fuss was about with this kid, he tryed hard all game but looked lost out there quiet a bit glad it was only the sharks we were playing i think next year he will be a lot better but i think Sheens needs to pick players who can handle the pressure of 1st grade not blooding untried players. I want Motzen back at half against the eels and bring in Collis to the centres and shift Lawro back to the back. But overall I see him having a great future in the halfs but i think it shouldnt be when our season is on the line.

did his job.
good time to play his first game.
however if he is picked next week he will get the shock of his life vs parra.
i like his size. he is not a small half (eg soward) that can get trampled. he can get his size n weight infront of attacking players n stop them.

Found it interesting that Lui's name wasn't mentioned in any of the media reports after the game. I guess there was plenty to write about Marshall and Tuiaki so that distracted them all.

^ which is good

The first game syndrome is out of the way, so the kid will have to work hard now that he is in FG and improve on his performances

I disagree. Lui did the right thing for a new team member playing with red-hot experienced players. Benji, Farah and Moltzen were all on fire, Lui did the right thing - he played his part. If he hogged the ball it would have been a travesty. In that sort of form you must get the ball to Marshall and Farah.

Of more importance was that he did not look too out of place defensively. He had Gallen run at him all day, and while he was not perfect, he did OK.

Lawrence MUST defend in the centres. He is brilliant.

Did nothing today but be a passenger. Got stagefright. Speedbump in defence. kicks went backwards. **Can only get better from here**.

I'm with you…........ ...Where you getting your bait from..........I need a new supplier

exactly right. i thought he was excellent and showed what a level headed young guy he is by not trying to storm onto the big stage and make a name for himself. he did his job and did it well imo. ive been hoping he got a go for ages now and i dont think he looked out of place at all.
as hbom says, we have benji, farah and moltzen calling the shots, so all lui has to do is play like he did and continue to be dependable and he will merge into a more pivotal role next year.

btw, is it just me? or did it look like lui didnt actually drop that pass on about the sharks 30m line about 25 mins in? it actually looked like he held the ball between his shins and then regathered it?!

I thought he went very well. You can bet he was under coaches instructions and if people were not happy with his first up efforts or thought be was below par, well they are very hard to please, Threw some very good balls and caught a few dusty passes, this kid will only get better. Maybe Sheens may have to protect him a little over the next three weeks against the better teams by bringing him off the bench and start with Morris, but I get the feeling the brains trust will keep giving him 80 minutes.

looked at it again, and yeah it did look that way,but i checked it frame by frame at .10 sec a frame and it did touch the ground.

defense he did his job,but obviously needs to get better.
he looked crisp in attack and didn't let the game get away from him.got involved throughout the game.

not bad to have a scoring kick, offload in a try scoring movement and make a run that if he had support would have resulted in a offload and possible points.but he got a fairly good play the ball that allowed farah to put in a kick to a retreating line.

looking forward to seeing him play the next 3 weeks against better opposition, especially if it is close at the back end of each game.

thanks bonstonker,
he didnt look upset at the call, but he doesnt look like much upsets him at all, so hard to tell!

ive only ever been impressed by his composure and i think, great passing game. and the rake in and pass around (payten was it?) reinforced my impression that he is and has been ready to be a first grader.

very much looking forward to seeing how he goes from here in to the end of 09.

LUI LUI!! OH, YEH, WE GONNA GO!! yeh yeh yeh yeh…
