Luke Brooks #167

You say all that, and we still tried to re-sign him again. At the end of the day, he’s the one that kicked us to the curb. What’s that say about us?
I can’t speak as to why they did that, but no one was knocking on the door to take the reigns here and it was likely a “better the devil you know” type decision so we didn’t waste the pack we were building.
Id suggest him rejecting us was always going to happen unless we gave him Luai dosh.

Brooks is top 5 Tigers of all time
..and bottom 5 at the same time!!
Without exception, our revolving door of coaches over the past decade are guilty of persistently equating Brooks not insignificant remuneration, plus the jersey number on his back implying he owned a skill set he simply didnt possess.
.ie Vision, organistion ,leadeship.abilty to react to short term opportunities and short game kicking skills..are just awol
he shld have been a running 6 from day 1, shoring up the middle defence, and never EVER be allowed to kick ever within the opposition 22
He needed a natural playmaker and organizer..... like a Scott Prince or even Sezer(tbd)inside him running the show
and insteadhe got Douihi demanding the 6 jersey and then Wakeham pushing him to 6
DCE will bs Brooks "Scott Prince" in 24 and they will form a very good combination of complimentary skills
For WTs,A wasted 10 decades of mismanagement

Absolutely. It’s the guys who do the individual brilliance stuff I am talking about. The stuff that’s not scripted or coached. Our head coach was one of them at his best. Teddy when he was here (and afterwards) could create out of nothing. Every side that has gone to the top in the NRL era has had someone like that. I fail to see who our guy is and it’s a big reason we don’t score enough points.
All we can do , is stack the team full of the best juniors we possibly could . To be fair to your comment , many games last year Bula did something when either nothing was on , or ….. 6 points saved is as important as 6 points scored , we also saw Bula save tries when there was no chance . At least 10 times from memory . once or twice , good stuff! every game , well that’s uncanny .

The game has evolved to a point that a quality team needs 5 halves.
There are various tasks that need to be performed during a game. To rely on one player to make it happen is insanity, particularly if that one player just wants to play footy.
The teams who have their 1, 6, 7, 9, 13 sharing the workload are at the top of the ladder.

Spot on. If people think Luai is coming here to be the Saviour on his own, they will be sadly mistaken. We need two dominant halves to go with Api and Bula. This year will determine who will partner him in 25. May the best man win.

look at tedesco and Moses surround them with good players and they play well.
Reality is manly has a better squad than us at present, Brooks has some great players around him like DCE turbo to name a few.
He will have a good year at Manly, surrounded by those players he will have plenty of options

This is the unwinnable unlosable argument. Futility at it's finest..
Those who were happy with his one acceptable game every 10 games will acclaim him as a star when he continues to do that at Manly.
The not mentally insane will still expect better than that.
It will never end.

Manly also have back rowers and others capable of playing in the halves. They’re a skilful side, which should play finals. I’m looking forward to their round 1 game.

He will certainly have far better options than we have given him over the years

I suspect he’ll have a pretty good year at manly , still won’t change the fact he wasn’t the right fit for us

“Opposition 22”, “…10 decades” - only sad thing is I made it all the way through.
