Our side is better than the Warriors and Raiders who are in the 8, and I would argue we are as good or better than Manly, who are also in the 8, and Titans and Dolphins who are 1 point out of the 8, and Knights who are 2 points out of the 8

Not true at all, I wanted him gone in 2021 and 2022, but I bought the crap about the good forward pack will see the real Luke Brooks, I was onboard with him this year willing him to be the player we wanted, but that's just not happening.
But I have seen enough, we are still bottom of the ladder, we are still only 3 wins after round 15, with one decent half we would be easily 6 wins, maybe more, but we need 2 new halves, it is time for a change, it is actually way past that time.

We have 2 current origin players, plus an english and kiwi international, the problem is in the halves

And that is your usual retort, Clune or some other numpty you can think of, who knows who we will get or how they will go, but one thing for sure is we can't just keep doing the same thing over and over again hoping for a different result, we have proven that just doesn't work

When you’re trying make the point that the player wests will get to replace Brooks will be worse than Brooks, the pickings are slim.
Also, you have to remember these two posters spent a whole off-season banging on how “sheens wants brooks, I trust sheens and brooks will have a forward pack blah blah”
FF to brooks having a great pack and the club offering him half a KitKat and a small coke for a contract forcing him to move.
Poor Paws and Jebi. Their reality is flipping before their eyes, who to back? Stick with sheens being a genius or Brooks being a future immortal if only “insert excuse”
I feel for them. Thoughts and prayers boys.

Agree why cant the coaches see after a decade that his position is not a halfback . A run here a zig there are not worth 1M. However he should be tried elsewhere & I say centre he is fast, can defend, can run a good line & doesn't have to create the play. We have nothing at all to lose .

I think offering 550K is good. If we offered say 750K and the Roosters 550K, he would likely resign with us. Hearing the talk around the two Manly players 'forced' to the Saints by their player manager, I think the same would happen here. 550K v 550K means he should go to Roosters, a team who are likely to be buying several other stars at the same time, maximising his chance of playing finals. They might even win one with him. Of course the usual media spin will come out, dissing the Tigers, but it's not like him staying would mean that we too would be lifting the trophy.
I wasn't quite sure where I was sat with this, but I am thinking that I would be happier to read that he's signed elsewhere than resigned with us (because this more than likely means that IM has done us over once again). At this stage, the hope that will come with a new halfback will far outweigh an offseason with the usual expectations.

Shouldn’t you be aiming your anger and frustration at Tim Sheens? I think a strongly worded letter in your best handwriting on your custom Luke Brooks Fan Club letterhead would send a real message. Maybe start a change.org petition? You can’t take this sitting down. Think of the awkward bbq’s!!!!
They don’t have the best track record when it comes to signing our players. You’d think they’d learn.

Brooks hasn't accepted an offer that is on him not the club... if he was happy to sign for 550k that is on brooks
anyway we survived when your mate Hastings left so we will be ok

I have suggested for years and years that he would not be out of place in the centres.
There is good precedence for it in the form of Shaun Berrigan who represented his country there after shifting.
The strengths of Brooks are that he has a good turn of pace that can get him through the line when drifting, he has excellent front on defence and workable lateral defence (this can be improved with work), he has the ball skills to complete movements made from breaks and his top line speed is quite good.
He would kill it there without the weight of trying to organise and think.

If Brooks goes we need two or three new halves for next year given Douhie won’t be much use to us.
I am indifferent whether he goes or stays (at the right price), although we probably need him for next year.
However, if Brooks goes, and given the lack of halves seemingly on the market, I wouldn’t be surprised if this time next year we are (still) languishing at the bottom of the ladder and we wished we still had him.
It’s almost inconceivable that after all these years when we finally have the chance to let Brooks walk we have absolutely no replacement plan. Although, we won’t be able to judge whether Brooks was adequately replaced until just before the season kicks off next year once all the player movements have taken place.
