Just got some mail that tigers would like to offload Brooks but destination only wants to pay 400 of 850. Madden has offers from 5 clubs for immediate release and tigers not budging. Club appears to be stuck. To me it explains the lack of desire last weekend.

Like Brooks, Truth he wont be a success here.

I hope he has a few absolute cracker Games and then he can go.

Why? Burton commands the left side of the dogs and Clune has been talked up as a very intelligent playmaker.
Can’t see much room for Brooks.
Plus having Clune doing the same job for 400k less means they have more money to spend on the squad. If they get an injury in the halves they may get interested

If you offload Brooks, you're left with no half depth, a two-year debt worth about 4-500k a year and you still have the Madge issues to deal with.

What is the benefit there?

If you think that simply getting rid of Brooks or simply getting rid of Madge will solve the problem, or even bring about major change, you're being overly simplistic.

Made a call to sack a long term player with inconsistent results. Then followed it up by sacking the coach 6 months later.

Come to think of it. We did the same thing in 2012-2013.

I don't get this logic, yes you are paying for him to play elsewhere, but the alternative is facilitating such a large contract that won't amount to any good within the remainder of its tenure. I understand its an ugly look to pay someone to play elsewhere, but the reality is the contract was a mistake and there will not be any change in how Brooks plays, the club sought to that by deciding to keep this coach past the end of last season. Brooks has not played any sort of consistent football with this coach and thats plain fact (yet some nupties will back him and think they have the right to criticize other players with less than 20 games of first grade, can you believe that). I do think he'll do a job at another club, and for the sake of ourselves and him as well I think the time is up.

Keeping him will do no good for both parties. Won't solve all our problems, but its something that for some reason has been kept constant despite all the changes that have been attempted with coaching staff and players, literally no other team will cater a half in a losing team for this long.

It's well-known Burton is pretty much the only quality half at the dogs and no matter how hard they've hoped Averillo hasn't become quality partnering him. He's the 5/8 by necessity and I don't believe its his best position. As of yet at least.

Newcastle it's simply because they've tried before and Joey Johns can't blow enough smoke up Brooks ass whenever the topic comes up. And considering what Clifford and Clune have produced so far he might think he's in with a good shot of finally "Unleashing" Brooks.

It would be a poor move imo because you would be paying approx 10% of the salary cap for players to play at other clubs.It would be far more sensible to keep him until at least the end of the year.It has taken years for us to fix our salary cap position and we don't need to destroy it

A lot of people don‘t take the cap into consideration when thinking about these things and let their emotions take over. There were some at the end of last year who wanted us to offload Brooks, Liddle and Noffa. This is was after we had already offloaded Mbye.
