Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

No he doesn't...
That's just the narrow directive talking.
I didn't say Brooks was good (Or great)
- I said he's playing better football than the other halves at the club,
Has been all year (Bar maybe 1-2 "arguable" games) Which he is.

Madden is a dunce...
That's why he's still the half in the team coming second last in reserve grade.

If he was the god send he's made out to be here - Surely he would be absolutely tearing it up in Ressies, And that team would be killing it.
An off contract half still being unsigned in July says it all.

A quick question, could we potentially get out of the Brooks deal for next year, if he went to superleague as a cheaper option. I feel we are in a lose lose situation with him all round.

Brooksy is probably the most loyal player we have, ok sure his contract could be giving a little boost to that loyalty, but apart from Nofa, who btw threatens to go to the Eels every time his contract year comes around, who else in the team has that loyalty.
I find it hard to bag players like some posters, because it’s a hard slog getting to be an nrl regular.
And as Joel Caine has eluded to, getting into the nrl is not THE destination, it’s only one stop on the career path.
The way to raise player expectations is to raise their profile, build their reputation.
I like to watch the post game pressers, they provide some insight on attitude.
Noddy is always talking up the players performance when the opportunity for him to do so arises.
The one criticism I had with Madge, this year he never did mention any players by name, only ever referred to “the team.” Now, others can form their own view on that but it leads me to thi;k that his trust of some players could have been better.
This Is a cultural issue the club has, it’s crazy to think that a group with a worthwhile common goal cannot unite and drive toward it. Sackings are not the solutions, it only establishes a short term trepidation, not useful if you’re trying to achieve and maintain peak performance.
Brooks only needs to be at a club which has strong admin and can attract and develop a strong forward pack.

Look where loyalty has got us. A million dollar lemon and an overpaid winger who threatens to go be part of a successful club whilst not ever contributing to a successful culture here.

Outplayed both Doueihi and Hastings - Has been for most of the year...
Made some errors, So did the other 2 Halves on field... Especially defensively.
Hastings is offering 3 parts of nothing atm, hasn't been for weeks...
Anyone who claims the opposite is doing so out of a personal dislike for Brooks.

I don't hold preference - Best man for the job, Gets the job.
At the moment, He's playing better than anyone else in those positions at the club
- As poorly as that may be perceived to be.
batboy,I understand your arguments for and against our halves...Brooks has had many chances and excuses over the years...I have critiqued him as well as stuck up for him over the years as well, and my main argument in his favour is that he never really had a great forward pack to work with...
Having said that,Hastings has an injury to his foot,he has been playing so he can help the team and has only been in the NRL for 14 games since his return,AD has been sidelined for months and is still to get fully match fit...I thought that Luke moving to 5/8 is a far better idea and letting Hastings guide the team around,it is my opinion that they still need time together as Luke adjusts to the free running game he is known for while he and Jacko gel under the coaching of Noddy(a great halfback in his own right) I went off earlier at Paws when he said that Luke ran well and help set up the tries to Noffa,Paws was right and it was good to see Brooks run at the line and get the ball out to the winger(I said it was his job to do what he did)...Keep AD in the centres and see how things pan out in the next few games....

Wow just watching replay the second play kick by Brooks was never on. The parra winger even dropped back. Farah and Kimmorley didn't look happy.

No one sees potential in him anymore.
We all did once.
We were all wrong.
Some just took longer to realize it or admit it.
I'm now with you bigsiro.
If RL was like NFL with attacking and defensive teams, Brooks certainly wouldn't be in the A side and he aint never gunna improve.
Defensively though for a fairly small dude he is one of the best in the side.
Overall though he's a 4 outa 10 imo.

4 out of 10 minus 4 bro🤣

Unfortunately no matter how hard Brooks may be trying he is just not the half back to direct a team around the park and has proven that over his time here.
Does he do some things better than Douhie and Hastings - yes
Is he better for the team than Douhie and Hastings - no (in my opinion)
He’s five eighth

I agree with your line-up but disagree with allowing brooks near the team, yes occasionally he can do something really good, but more often he does something great for our opponents,‽???
I agree I was just trying to throw a bone to the stubborn Brooks supporters

I am a long time Tigers fan(Balmain & WT) and have been disappointed by our lack of real results for the past decade. For the record I believe every has their right to there opinion & post it as they wish. What I find incredible is the amount of disrespect for Brooks. He is a seriously talented & very loyal player.
Some people here are under the illusion that Brooks should win all games on his own. He has never had the luxury of a consistently dominant forward pack. A team without a decent forward pack is like a car without an engine. For any one saying thats just an excuse, put your money where your mouth is & push your car to work for 8 years . Try to push & steer at the same time . Most would give up within a few metres , yet Brooks has stuck loyal for years. For those who rate Cleary as a great halfback(i dont) , he would not win games behind our forward pack. He & daddy would have bailed long ago to go to the highest bidder.
One play that all the Brooks critics highlight in the last game for example was when he kicked early in the tackle count when we were a man down & gave Parra the ball back. Not probs the play required, but Cleary & Liua make those kind of mistakes in games as well. The difference is , the Penrith forward pack has them back down on the opposition try line the next set for Cleary to try again & redeem himself. Brooks dosent have & has never had that luxury . Also , i will point out, it wasnt Brooks that missed the tackles down that rhs that let the resultant try in, but no one talks about that.
It appears to me that some of us are too eager to lap up the BS that the Hoppers & fox toolbags vomit out every week & accept it as gospel, eg the clubs in turmoil, Brooks wants out, Madge was the problem, ten players want out, Sheens sacked Madge so he could have the top job etc etc. .Dont forget the majority of the negative posters here could be supporters of other clubs masquerading as Tigers fans to put it up us.
Our latest forward debutants show we have great potential future in this club with better times coming. There has always been this potential here that threatens other clubs so they talk us down, and for the most part it has worked. Its the supporters of this club that make it what it is. If we continue to believe this negative BS that for the most part is just lies we wont be going up anytime soon.

Brooks was hammered for missing the ball which lead to the try. What was forgotten was the effort to get back there to try and save the try. I always looked for effort when coaching my soccer teams. Where was Hastings? Where was Doueihi? This was a big moment in the game and none of them were sighted. Their absence says it all really.

Hastings playing on one leg.
AD returning from injury and playing out of position.... essentially.

Brooks is a park footballer masquerading as a first grader.

Every game he plays, the more he gets found out.
The fan club dwindles more and more each round.
Points for staying loyal though Pawzy.
