The club has invested too much time and money in Brooks and Moses to simply let them walk out the door. I'm confident we will retain both.

Which makes no sense

Why would you give them half a season to potentially send their pay packets sky high and then get pushed through the roof by other clubs

I guess when they signed their last contract they were in hot demand so they could basically demand what ever clauses they wanted in their contracts. As I said this thread will get bigger than Farahgate if the boys hang out to June before making a call

Where in that article does Brooks admit he might leave as the headline states…?

Moses admits he was far from happy with his form last season and has vowed to repay coach Taylor’s faith in 2016.
>
“It definitely wasn’t me and I was different player last season, but JT backed me every week,” he said.
>
“I copped that much criticism, but I played every game.
>
“I wasn’t happy with the way I was playing.
>
“I probably shouldn’t have played that many games, but he (Taylor) was patient with me.

This also paints a different picture of the Halves being unhappy with the Coach...looks the opposite to me...from Moses's mouth...

What does Eddie think about this, he loves a direct quote from a player, apparently it reveals all.

When Brooks says "I will wait and see what happens", does he refer to this season and will they be winning more?,is there an expectation of JT not being here next season or half way through this season?,does he expect that the Tigers will up the wage because others may offer bigger and better?there are lots of scenarios that could be taken out of this statement…..in my opinion, and I don't give a rats how big the hype is on this bloke,he has to prove that he can earn the money he is on now during this season,he should remember that the club has stuck with him to be the key playmaker in the NRL team and have made way for him to be given every opportunity to excel within that capacity....I have said it before, its all well and good to have a huge reputation hanging over your head on NYC form, its a different kettle of fish in the big arena, prove your worth to the club that has given you a very good opportunity or move on ...remember he isn't a kid anymore, its time to " man up or shut up"....

Don't think I'm being to harsh on Brooks...its a very competitive world in the NRL market...
Clubs would like to see results from their investments,we are no different, the ball is in Brooks court...... 😱pen_mouth:

June is along time away. I'm going to do my best not to get too emotionally caught up with this one.

…arrrr , who in I kidding. I just gone and read stuff about gluten free diets now I'm reading between the lines...I'm gone

I think club ownership and direction will be a key matter for these young players with options for next season. Once the end of March passes by and there is some outcome on the club ownership, the language will change.

What really got me about our "STARS", was how they told the coach how they want to play the game,I haven't seen anything yet from Brooks and Moses to show me they can consistently play structured defensive NRL,to have the right to tell a coach how they want to play..granted they have talent and potential and attacking flair, but that is just one part of the game..Show me games consistently where the scoreboard is in our favour over this coming season and show me points on the ladder where we are somewhere near the top 8 and not lamenting on the bottom of the ladder…with a so called brilliant spine ....I'm over the hype and expectation of this team, yes they were very young to be put into NRL,however they showed a huge amount of talent that put them far apart from the also rans in those positions....loyalty to me isn't about the big dollars offered to big hype, its about pulling on the jumper, wearing it with pride and doing the very best for the club that has given you a golden opportunity to excel...not worrying about who's colours are offering the big money when they haven't really a proven record in NRL..

Everyone in this team should take a leaf out of Tedescos book about putting in game after game week in week out...imagine how many games we may have won if Teddy had not been injured and on the sideline for weeks and weeks early in his NRL career ...

As for Brooks and the big dollars,if you take Teddy,Moses and Farah out of the team, how do you think Brooks would go leading the team around the park at NRL level....very ordinary I would suggest.....

Maybe the players should shut their mouths and get on with what they are very well paid to do – play serious football from the heart for their team.

If it is true that he is on 600K next year then I cannot see him leaving for the money as he does not warrant any more and to be frank he is probably overpaid.

I think he would leave if he could see better opportunities elsewhere i.e winning a comp, playing with a better forward pack, better coach i.e Bellamy then he should move on for his own sake.

Maybe it's not about next season's value as they already have fixed options in their favour. It's about playing well and adding value, not just taking the 1 year option but re-signing for an addition 2-3 years on top of that too. A strong first half of the season would help them establish themselves as genuine NRL talents, and not just prospects with huge potential. The 2 roles get paid differently.

Do players from the broncos, storm or roosters talk like this about their contracts?

Do they get harassed by the media about what they're doing on a weekly basis like our players do? We're a goldmine for crap journos looking to twist an angle to get clicks and save their jobs. They know enough people will read every little twist and turn they make up so they stick to their bread and butter…. If it ain't broke, don't fix it (from their p.o.v.)

You see our players [This word has been automatically removed] and moan about the bagging and the crap the club goes through yet they themselves feed the journo's material to bag the club with….

Brooks just shut up and play footy...answer all journo questions about footy....but don't answer any Journo questions about your future...how hard is it???. crickey

How many times do we hear this? Brooks is obviously trying to drum up his price as much as he can. It's up to the club to decide whether he's worth it or not. If he does go I'd wager we'd have a hefty sum available to make a tilt at a quality half.

No because they aren't looking like a consistent bottom 4 side

Seem to remember Cooper Cronk calling his own press conference at his last contract renewal….He may be leaving the Storm ..not a bad option...

Who can forget DCE's 8 man presser on his backfilp...

But who would come at retail price CB ???

You got the coach and club legend blueing , apart from Tedesco and Moses no outside backs of note , questionable backrowers , three home grounds , one part of the JV on its knees , a team that struggles with attracting TPA's and ten other clubs that have none of these issues and that challenge or make the Top 8 on a regular basis

That's true. I was in a way alluding to the fact that perhaps the 'better run' clubs don''t have this nonsesnse. But it's not exclusive to the tigers I guess.

More chance that Cronk will fly day trips to the Moon playing his glockenspiel than come to the WT's

If you have the right $$$, you'll go anywhere. Just ask Watmough, Sandow, Blair, McQueen.

There's one real positive potentially looming with the balmain buyout. If we get a great private investor in who is passionate about the club, it could really set a new tone around the place and help retain our key guys.
