You have no concept of what team sport is BBF

I will give an example. when Twal made the big break a few weeks back Moses backed up and made the try. Who was next in line to get the ball - old man Farah not youngster fastman Brooks. Farah may have been on the old slow North Coast Motor Rail but he was there. In the Doggies game the other day one Morris twin was on the opposite side of the field to his position backing up his bro - he was hungry for the ball. In the middle of the season one game in particular one would not have known that Brooks was on the field. Active players hand around like a bad smell searching for an opportunity, that's it, it is Brooks Brylcream hair lotion and aftershave he does not want to be a bad smell. Give me that pic of Farah looking like a smelly, unshaven, old and dirty skunk any day.

You keep selecting isolated incidents.
But if you look at the positions the two players you mentioned play in, you may understand why what occurred did.

Brooks didn't back up on one play and Farah did?

That's no argument…. You need to keep some form of structure for the next play if needed... You can't have everyone chasing the ball carrier like it's u/7s

What about the younger, younger new generation like Ponga? Does this rule still apply to them..or do they drink?

For my 2cents worth I think this was Brooks best season in NRL. He was more consistent than Million dollar players like Hunt and Cherry E. He is very good value for the team. Also a lot of people were hoping Brooks left and Moses stayed.
If Brooks is paid around $750K , (I think this year he was in $550) he would be good value for the Tigers.
Brooks was not the problem for 2018\. The lack of punch in the forwards was a concern for mine. Along without having a genuine DH for most of the season.

x 2

And you can add that we were without our first choice 5/8 & fb to that as well.

Most think the knights would’ve made the 8 had Pearce not been injured for the majority of the season. Why doesn’t the same apply to us with our issues at fb, hooker & 5/8?

When we got a genuine dummy half he got blamed for Brooks playing bad - you can't have it both ways.
I don't have anything against Brooks but don't think he'll get past being a decent half - and we need better than that.
He is fast, and his tackling improved enormously this year, but he goes missing too often.
As plenty of others have said, good players look for and demand the ball… in his case he often disappears into the background.

Your belief that Brooks is not seen in support enough is absolutely, categorically, 100% incorrect. It's just factually inaccurate. He is one of the most active support players in the entire competition.

From NRL.com - top five "player in support" totals for the 2018 season:
James Tedesco: 563
Chad Townsend: 562
Michael Gordon: 554
Luke Keary: 514
Luke Brooks: 480

Care to have another go?

That's an interesting stat. Thanks.

Does that mean Brooks is hungry for the ball?

Who is this BBF? An interesting perspective on the game.

It's a bit bizarre isn't it. Is that Robbie's mum ?

I just don't understand why there is so much focus on Farah in a Brooks thread.

Because Farah is accused of starving Brooks of the ball therefore making Luke lose confidence etc. The counter point is that this year we won a higher percentage of games when Farah was playing then when not playing and Brooks was unimpeded.

I think an apology is necessary concerning mentioning Robbie's mum.

He must have been very busy in some games but others you would have to send a search party out for him. It is not only me noticing it. But when he does so many poor grubbers sometimes less is more and more is less.

I didn't mention Farah's mum, so hopefully that was not directed at me.

I think you need to be careful in assigning causation from correlation. Mbye came at the same time. It will be hard to disentangle the Farah effect. Further why can't it be possible that Farah's inclusion improved the team whilst still negatively impacting Brooks?

For what it's worth I am a fan of both players. I think Brooks had an outstanding year and I think Farah helped improve our team.

Lol.
End of argument

If we didnt get ripped off by the refs against Brisbane and managed two more wins we wouldn't be arguing about where we sit now
I hope the boys learn from this years results
Just because we beat the top teams doesn't mean we make the finals
We need to lift more against the lesser teams
If we did that we would be talking about this weeks game

You cant point the finger at a couple of players
Every player in our team missed tackles
dropped balls
And bombed try's
It was a collective effort from the team
It was Brooks best year
Hopefully next year he steps up again along with every other player we have

Of course it was Earl who made the mum reference. I also am a fan of Brooks when he is active and does decent grubbers. He has certainly stepped up a level. Only because of poor grubbers and going missing sometimes I don't think he should be above his current salary. If he worth above that well he is only paying back for being overpaid in previous years. He could be the most powerful punter in the team.

I think that if we had a couple of Burgess boys who provided a decent roll on and space for the DH and the halves to play, this would be a moot conversation. Brooks played as well as he was allowed to and Robbie was good when he came on board.

x2

Behind a good pack Brooks would be much more consistently a great half

James Tedesco just posted on Instagram with a caption: "Finals footy, how good".

To which Brooks replied: "Finals footy? What's that?"

He's not wrong, but poor form.

Well he is not playing finals because of HIS non skill as a 1/2 back … the sooner he gets off the bus the better IMO. This is a poor comment from someone that has very little skill set .

Brooks is going to run top 4 in the Dally M and was our player of the year. The only reason we were even close was because of Brooks. Let the bloke express himself. It obviously sucks to not play finals footy. It's not Luke's fault.

So Wests Tigers player of the year and voted on by his team mates as players player of the year..

Well done Luke…Dally M's next...

Always wonder how he would go behind a really good pack, with brains.
