when Farah came off last game did Luke get more ball from Liddle? And if he did how did he fare with it?

Liddle gave much better service but it didn't make a difference because we were bashed senseless in the forwards.

What ball? After your mate's terrible attempt of a tackle that directly led to a try and his subsequent removal to the bench, well, that was just about it possession wise until after Mats returned and even then, still a long way short of even to finish off the match.

Looking at it simplistically how many points did we score when Farah was on the field and how many when he was off?

A lot less than Souffs

That did not answer the question - we scored zero if I remember correctly, no wonder His Royal Highness had a stern look from the bench.

Wake up Mate! - being realistic - when Liddle came on the game had already gone, and the Souffs forwards were running rampart.

The only reason he had a stern look was because he knew, like a lot of others they had not played well enough.

STOP! trying to make excuses. Apart from a couple of players they were all well below par and Farah was one of them.

Thanks for the considered reply.
I think with respect, he is better than perhaps 3 or 4 other halfbacks. But their potential is arguably greater. Don’t forget Brooks has been around for 5 years and his potential should have been realised by now.
Also, re bias, I meant that the Dally M count only reinforces our fans’ confirmation bias. The fact that independent judges have rated him well is a credit to him and I don’t begrudge him that.
He has definitely had his best year; his running and tackling have improved dramatically.
I just don’t think he is a 7 that can take us to the grand final. His kicking and game management are still terrible and I totally agree with what 851 said above re time to cut our losses at halfback.

I agree, I don't think he is the guy who can take us through a finals series and win it. Maybe if he improved 2019 by the same margin as 2018, and then once more for measure.

That being said, a lot of halfbacks have been disappointing this year. Cronk only gets a pass mark because of his history and the fact he's surrounded by loads of talent. Nathan Cleary has fallen away and DCE only seems to step up for the really big games, of which Manly is rarely a part of these days.

And for me, I personally think Ash Taylor is possibly one of the best halves in the game, I think he's a terrific footballer when he gets his game hat on, but the bloke can hardly string two performances together behind a fairly decent forward pack.

But Russell, teams are known for making comebacks. If Farah did not return to the field then Jacob was DH for much longer yet the cupboard was bare in his tenure. Parramatta eventually scored points in the second half when getting rolled by Melbourne two weeks ago.

Are you saying that Farah is more successful even when well below par that Jacob is at full stretch?

I give up mate - you are a lost cause.

Just go back to looking at your centrefold of HRH.

I only argued because I did not believe that Farah did play well below par - that is not possible he is a goer every game. I don't blame Jacob at all, only the three who were named and shamed. Liddle also plays well every game. Many of our best players of spine got pushed off by biggies that night.

Luke can be terrific but can go missing even if Farah is not playing. I remember mid season he was missing in action, one game severely so. No way over $500, Benji may blunder but he never goes missing in a game.

You have no concept of what team sport is BBF

BBF is correct you would of not know Brooks was on the field at times against Souths ,sometimes you need to do more than catch and pass …but it is all about who is around him is the one constant that is thrown out there . The real talented players create things themselves not wait for others to do it for them to many excuses but that is the new generation .

I will give an example. when Twal made the big break a few weeks back Moses backed up and made the try. Who was next in line to get the ball - old man Farah not youngster fastman Brooks. Farah may have been on the old slow North Coast Motor Rail but he was there. In the Doggies game the other day one Morris twin was on the opposite side of the field to his position backing up his bro - he was hungry for the ball. In the middle of the season one game in particular one would not have known that Brooks was on the field. Active players hand around like a bad smell searching for an opportunity, that's it, it is Brooks Brylcream hair lotion and aftershave he does not want to be a bad smell. Give me that pic of Farah looking like a smelly, unshaven, old and dirty skunk any day.

I did read your post after creating mine as my notification button is no longer visible showing any replies. But you are correct about many of the young generation - you can lead them to water but they do anything except drink. You can give them all the opportunity that we may not have had and they couldn't care less.

What about the younger, younger new generation like Ponga? Does this rule still apply to them..or do they drink?

For my 2cents worth I think this was Brooks best season in NRL. He was more consistent than Million dollar players like Hunt and Cherry E. He is very good value for the team. Also a lot of people were hoping Brooks left and Moses stayed.
If Brooks is paid around $750K , (I think this year he was in $550) he would be good value for the Tigers.
Brooks was not the problem for 2018\. The lack of punch in the forwards was a concern for mine. Along without having a genuine DH for most of the season.
