Doueihi and Brooks have the potential to be a very smart halves pairing. I liked what I have seen from them. If we can obtain Laurie with his pace and ball skills, it will really improve our team.

Well, there you go. Basically confirmed that Benji got in his way and overcalled him.

I felt that was the case too, but for Brooks to come out and say that feels like he’s making excuses.

I’ve been a Brooks fan but he needs to grow up and take accountability.

I truly hope brooksy kills it this year, he has so much potential I think if he can find form he will be one of the better halves this year!! I do believe he will have his best season yet and show us all why he was labeled the next Andrew johns. Fingers crossed anyways lol

He says the same thing every year. Brooks needs to perform and if he plays well or poorly it's on him.

For some reason the only top class, game controlling 7s in the NRL at the moment are:
- DCE
- Cleary
- reynolds

Then you have:
- keary (who plays 6 but like a 7) &
- cam Smith (Who plays 9 by like a 7)

Non of the above WT could sign

The there's a big group of ok 7s like:
- Brooks
- Moses
- Hughes
- Pearce
- hunt
- kodi
Etc

We need to persist with Brooks and COACH him to be better
& COACH a rising future star 7 (hopefully madden) to be playing in 4 years time when we with GF

You can’t put choker Cleary there surely. Lost the two most important games of the year and they were on him. He’s an imposter.

Couldn't agree more Mike. The guys a one-trick pony. Nullify his kicking game, like the Storm and Qld did, and he's no better than anyone else. If you check the stats, you'll find that Laui carried him this year.

If AD doesn’t cut it at 5/8 Jarome Laui is off contract at the end of 2021. With Cleary on a million dollars for the next decade. Laui Maybe worth targeting. If Brooks fails in 2121 , Madden will get his chance

So we developed Brooks and Moses together…Moses was identified and developed to be our 6, then went onto become Parra’s 7, Brooks was identified and developed to be our 7, now people are saying he should be a 6…hmmmm…someone has stuffed up!.

Absolutely! I think they were mis-cast from the get go. The natural, loud mouth game controller told to play second fiddle to the natural introvert. I think Moses plays 7 and takes the heat and Brooks plays 6 and just runs, we have a different outcome.

Brooks and Moses are runners first and foremost ...rarely works in regards to premierships

That is Luke's fault! Seriously trying to say it was because of Benji. How about some accountability Luke? Seriously...what will be this years excuse? I like Luke and think he is one of the best halfs in the world...but really?

This is on page 12 of the Brooks excuse Book ! The jigs up and will be totally exposed next season .

To be fair the interviewer was baiting it out of him with the question. Brooks has always been terrible talking to the media, always talking typical cliches - I feel like he just defaulted to this as he thought that would be the typical thing to say.

The Roosters are struggling to find a good halves pairing. We need to be a realistic and understand there is a shortage of quality halves across the NRL. We are lucky we have Brooks, Doueihi, Mbye and young Madden.

I tend to agree. Luke isn't a junior, he wasn't last year, he is the half back and can't be afraid to call the plays for any reason. Respect or being intimidated by senior players doesn't cut it. We can cut the whole team till there is no old heads but there will always be young confident players he needs to be the boss over

Imho the reason there are not many good halves these days is the way coaches have emphasized "Power over Skill" in the style of football being played. The emphasis is not helping the development of good halves which is sad to see.

Thats 1 reason the other is the game is analytical and the focus is now on % structured plays over off the cuff read the game plays. It’s becoming very nfl style to some degree. The importance of other positions is somewhat higher and has become a hooker/fullback world now
