He had a very good 2018 and 2019. Hopefully this year can be put behind him and he finds that form again.

No 1/2 looks good on a team going backwards,im not convinced Brooks has the maturity to do the job, though i think he has the talent,With a stronger forward pack this year,he has to grow,if not he will be let go,

The new rules make forward momentum more important than ever. Sides that don’t consistently get over the advantage line will struggle and make the halves job harder. Tigers suffered that last year. Hopefully the cattle changes that have been made address that

He’s not a premiership halfback as it stands. That said they are scarce you will downgrade immediately on the open market. He’s under contract anyway has to improve has the ability.
There are no decent halves available.

Hopefully he gets his kicking game back on track, particularly the short kicking game.

A couple of years ago he was near top in try assists and repeat sets from kicks, but last year it was terrible.

I'm a massive Brooks supporter but if his 5th tackle options don't improve next year we will go backwards. I hope it was more a confidence issue than anything else, but in order to be the half we crave him to be his game management needs to improve tenfold.

Said it before and will say it again, I think Brooks needs to focus on being a running 6. We need a game-managing 7 next to him. We have been trying to turn him into something he isn’t for 6 years. Time to change tactics.

So we developed Brooks and Moses together...Moses was identified and developed to be our 6, then went onto become Parra's 7, Brooks was identified and developed to be our 7, now people are saying he should be a 6...hmmmm.....someone has stuffed up!.

For some reason, people neglect to mention how he improved his tackling and defence in general. Just a few years ago we had a huge hole on the left side, and every attack was focused on Brooks, but not anymore. Sadly our right side is as always - turnstile, falling off tackles, looking like they came to play touch footy,

For some reason the only top class, game controlling 7s in the NRL at the moment are:
- DCE
- Cleary
- reynolds

Then you have:
- keary (who plays 6 but like a 7) &
- cam Smith (Who plays 9 by like a 7)

Non of the above WT could sign

The there's a big group of ok 7s like:
- Brooks
- Moses
- Hughes
- Pearce
- hunt
- kodi
Etc

We need to persist with Brooks and COACH him to be better
& COACH a rising future star 7 (hopefully madden) to be playing in 4 years time when we with GF

And look at the proposed team lists on this forum, the main non tacklers on the right are the first selected.

I think he would make a great 9 TBH.

Just passing by to provide support for Luke Brooks. Surely next year is the year he fulfils his potential.

Been meaning to bump this thread for a while.

I know we say this often, but next season is really make or break for Brooks. I appreciate and understand the frustration a lot of people here have shared throughout his career, but I've always backed him. However, last season was really really painful to watch, and I just couldn't see him getting better.

Next season he is without Benji and Harry. Maybe he can stand up. He has to.

Otherwise we really have to move on, and I feel like with the money we'll have in 22, we will.

RE frullens comments. Your comments are spot on.DCE is really the only decent running and tactical kicker in the game.Clearys tactical game has improved ,but at the expense of his running game.Storm had Smith doing the kicking and freed up the half. The reason so many halves struggle in the modern game is its played 2 to 3 hit ups, spread, then look for ground gain or repeats. When does a half get the chance to run?

Madge and the recruitment team have done a great job (under the current circumstances) in building a better all round team for Brookes to lead. Brookes won’t have to worry about other dominant players over calling the plays, as they have all been moved on. There is some added size and mongrel in the forwards and a bit more zip in the backs. Brookes has the perfect platform to excel. He also has Madden as an extra incentive to play well, as I have a feeling that Madge wont hesitate in making drastic changes if performances aren’t heading in the right direction. I for one am excited to see what this team can do next season.

Yes, when does Madden get an opportunity? He will be 21 by the start of season 21. Brooks was our starting 7 as a 19yo.

This was a winning blues team..

New South Wales under-18s

1 John-Paul Nohra
2 Jason Saab
3 Bradman Best
4 Bronson Xerri
5 Tallis Angianga
6 Jock Madden
7 Phoenix Crossland (c)
8 Spencer Leniu
9 Maurice Trindall
10 Stefano Utoikamanu
11 Egan Butcher
12 Shawn Blore (c)
13 Duwayne Fuimaono

I got a feeling Brooks will be second fiddle this year aswell. AD just seems to me to have that drive to want the ball and seems to want a say in on field decisions at penalties and breakdowns

Brooks has never had the luxury of -
1 - A decent forward pack
2 - A decent long term 5/8th
3 - Any support around him as a playmaker
4 - A decent backrower beside him defensively (until this year)
5 - A regular hooker giving good service (until this year)

I'm not saying he will rise to be Australian halfback, but I bet he would be consistently top 3 halfbacks in the game if he was at Roosters, Storm, Souths, Broncos etc etc

I actually agree with you , but I don’t at the same time . I feel like AD had the humility to allow brooks to run his plays and not over call , whilst also having the confidence to do his thing when it’s on . That was our biggest issue last year . For all the benjis 18 try assists , I’d love to see how much of the ball actually went down his side . If it’s less than 70% I’d be shocked .
And when he did get it , everyone was basically like “DO SOMETHING” . You can see it on here as well .
