At $900k a year, Brooks is not paying his way. If he were on $350k fair enough, but as a Half Back, a key position, its time to say goodbye and we wish you well (It's not like Moses, Sharon or the other bloke) he has tried hard but will never be a dominant Half. After 150 games, he is not what we paid for.

My dreams might come true lol
Seriously though, it might be best for him and the club.
A change might just give him a jump start… clubs are always looking for halves and he’s like stale bread here.
Wish him the best if he goes.
If only they could get someone to take Mbye and Nofo as well we’d have a fortune to spend on new players.

On what are you basing the figure of 900k?

My understanding is it is nowhere near that.

What exactly, at the moment, is he not doing that would justify his paycheque in your eyes?

I'm not a fan of subsidising a player to go to a rival club, but Brooks was totally outplayed by a bloke four years his junior yesterday.

We should looking for some money to upgrade Doueihi and build a team around him.

Brooks is definitely overpaid but that was another poor decision by the club. He plays with passion and makes his tackles. Cutting him would just be another poor decision by the club. Something they are historically great at.

Brooks is better than Hastings on all evidence.

Brooks is the elephant in the room

Are you aware of any half backs available that are better and will come to the Tigers?

We're obviously putting our money on Hastings.
However, like a few others I wonder at the timing of this.
The same journo has been deathriding Maguire and now this.
Looks like he's doing anything he can to destabilise the club.

Brooks has been great for us this season. The problem for next season is fitting Brooks, Hastings and Doueihi into the team.

I'd be okay with getting rid of Brooks but I'm not sure it's the right decision.

Why not wait until we see how they go next season.

The simplest way I see it is drop Mbye from the team and make Hastings number 14.

Agree completely. Get rid of Mbye and there's plenty of room to have both Brooks and Hastings in the squad.

People used to say Brooks wilted under pressure, but under extreme scrutiny this year he has stood tall and had a very good season. I hope we keep him.

No one likes Mbye. Plus he is lame.

Those getting cut at the end of the year: Packer, Mbye, Leilua and Roberts

I think Roberts would be worth keeping for next year given the coin he is on.

He might be a cheapie but he's offered nothing move on give a young gun ago.

I think 1. Laurie 6. AD 7. Brooks 13. Hastings might actually work quite well.

I worry we don't get enough thrust through the middle.

Using Moses as an argument against Brooks is a really poor argument.

It was reported at about 500k previously. Now it's up to 900k.

Our defence is our weak link and Brooks is close to our best defender. Seems like a crazy idea, but he has been linked to the Raiders for a few months, so maybe there is some truth. Personally I hope it’s all bull dust and he stays.

Hastings is not a noted defender.. so it would be such a Wests Tigers thing to do..

Tigers star shopped to rivals
A Wests Tigers’ star’s time looks to be up with the club reportedly shopping him around despite being locked in on a big-money deal for a further two seasons.

BROOKS ON THE OUTER

For so long it seemed the Wests Tigers would stick by their big-money halfback Luke Brooks. Despite not quite reaching expectations, the 26-year-old has always held his spot in the squad.
However, that looks set to change withThe Sydney Morning Herald reporting the Tigers have made inquiries with rival clubs to see if anyone is interested in the No.7’s services.

Ex-Roosters and Sea Eagles half, Jackson Hastings, will return home from the Super League next season on a two-year deal with the Tigers.

Hastings was said to be signed as a lock, but it seems that’s not the case as the Tigers look to offload Brooks.

Hastings will likely partner Adam Doueihi in the halves in 2022. Doueihi moved back to five-eighth on the weekend after a stint in the centres and proved that it’s the position he belongs in long term.

Doueihi ran for 91 metres and set up five tries and had four linebreak assists in the Tigers’ win over the Broncos on Sunday.

Brooks was also solid with 42 running metres, one try assist, two tacklebusts and one offload, but he was completely outshone by Doueihi.
Brooks was named the Dally M Halfback of the Year in 2018 but has struggled to take control of his side in the last three seasons.

Don't believe anything that comes out of Hoopers mouth.
That guy is nothing but full of shit
It's just another headline the journos wanna brew
They wouldn't be looking to offload after a dominant win
I reckon it's paper talk

The club should issue a statement refuting this story

That was way back when the other 3 left and before being upgraded (at least) twice.
Been reported plenty of times closer to $900k now

The Wests Tigers would like to clarify something in the media today. Look we overpaid Moses Mbye and we just can’t get rid of the bloke, so we’re cutting Brooksy - sincerely Pascoe

Can you provide us with a link that isn't some made up journalists story ? If not it's about as factual as most stuff written in the DT/Fox.

To me he is on 500k. That was the figure reported when last he signed. I believe he was extended but I've never read any figures mentioning 900k from a factual source.
