Brooks has been excellent for a while now. As the team gets better players he will be fairly judged. Not saying he is leading us to a title but whether you rate him or not he’s one of our best players. I’m happy with his recent form.

Hastings or Junior Pearce as another half will make a huge difference. Douhiei who I liked at 6 is a better centre and it’s not close.

The Roosters gave Pearce the flick because they couldn’t see him leading them to the title…. even with a good team around him.
No way he leads us to one.
You’re right regarding Brooks- he won’t lead us to one either.
Only difference is we are not ruthless about winning so keep him here.

Pearce already did lead them to a title in 2013. They let him go cos they wanted Cronk.

Yep, way back in 2013. and then they ditched him as soon as they realised he wasn't getting them a premiership again.
He's not going to get us close to one now, either will Brooks.
Difference is we're all nice guys and won't punt him.

They ditched him for Cronk. If Cronk wasn’t available, Pearce would still be a Rooster.

And we'd still have Rob Lui if he hadn't beat his Mrs up twice ...I'm still amazed Sam Backo didn't make him disappear

Brooks is a useless halfback, always has been, always will be.
He doesn’t think tactically, doesn’t control play, doesn’t inspire the team, doesn’t control his kicking game, doesn’t apply pressure through repeat sets and goes into his shell when the torch is applied.
He is a ball runner with adequate defence and a decent passing game.
The reason he looks ok currently is because he is running the football. He’ll be the 5/8 when Hastings gets here.

Only one halfback has more forced drop outs to his name. And he is the blues # 7.
Only one halfback has more try assists and that is the eels #7.

How many have got more wins to their names?

I’ve always thought that this is a team sport? I know you’re not suggesting the win/loss ratio is solely on the 7.
You do have a point though, one player can make a difference. Gosh imagine how good a team becomes when all players believe that. I have watched games where players expect someone else to make the tackle or turn momentum. I’ve also seen games where a team with 12 lifts and wins.

No problems.
Was just trying to make the point that you can have this or that statistic next to your name but in the end its wins that matter.
Tommy Turbo shows one player sure can make a difference to his team.

Sign Pearce!

We need an experienced half that is a leader.

Brooks isn’t a leader. He thinks he is still 18 but he’s like 40

He's being shopped around to rival clubs.

Tigers star shopped to rivals
A Wests Tigers’ star’s time looks to be up with the club reportedly shopping him around despite being locked in on a big-money deal for a further two seasons.

BROOKS ON THE OUTER

For so long it seemed the Wests Tigers would stick by their big-money halfback Luke Brooks. Despite not quite reaching expectations, the 26-year-old has always held his spot in the squad.
However, that looks set to change withThe Sydney Morning Herald reporting the Tigers have made inquiries with rival clubs to see if anyone is interested in the No.7’s services.

Ex-Roosters and Sea Eagles half, Jackson Hastings, will return home from the Super League next season on a two-year deal with the Tigers.

Hastings was said to be signed as a lock, but it seems that’s not the case as the Tigers look to offload Brooks.

Hastings will likely partner Adam Doueihi in the halves in 2022. Doueihi moved back to five-eighth on the weekend after a stint in the centres and proved that it’s the position he belongs in long term.

Doueihi ran for 91 metres and set up five tries and had four linebreak assists in the Tigers’ win over the Broncos on Sunday.

Brooks was also solid with 42 running metres, one try assist, two tacklebusts and one offload, but he was completely outshone by Doueihi.
Brooks was named the Dally M Halfback of the Year in 2018 but has struggled to take control of his side in the last three seasons.

As much as I feel he needs to be moved on, at the same time I would hate for him to play for another team...

I believe he has been good lately, but as everyone always says - needs to hold and run with the ball abit more.

Also - I wanted to add that I don't think Doueihi and Hastings will go well together..

I don't want to get into whether or not Brooks should stay. But can't we get to enjoy a win for one day without some divisive news story dropping. Am sick of it.

This is the NRL if you dont cut it at this level, then its a matter of moving on to the next person who can compete consistently at this level....this has been done many, many times...On Luke,I think he has played well this year, but from others points of view and that includes inside WTs,that maybe what has been said about Luke to control the team, its his team, hasnt come to fruition and maybe it is time to move him on...

Fox picked this up from Chammas article on Gould..

Don’t believe there is any truth to it..

I've been critical of Brooks in the past but not sure that would be smart (if true). There's not a lot of good halfbacks around.

Sounds like rubbish. I don't see why the club would move him on right now when there is no need and no certainty that we would have any better options in our halves next year.

Brooks has been great for us this season. The problem for next season is fitting Brooks, Hastings and Doueihi into the team.

I'd be okay with getting rid of Brooks but I'm not sure it's the right decision.

Why not wait until we see how they go next season.

I think 1. Laurie 6. AD 7. Brooks 13. Hastings might actually work quite well.

The simplest way I see it is drop Mbye from the team and make Hastings number 14.
