So Brooks is the new Jennings now...
The 7 can be a role player. Sezer lastcyear was a role player in the Raiders team last year same as Townsend for Sharks.
Hindsiggt is a wonderful thing but looks like we let the wrong half go in Moses

Moses walked
Brooks was desperate as no other club would take him
If Jennings was a half he’d be luke Brooks

That’s not correct mate. The Dogs wanted Brooks bad. Trouble was Teddy wanted Moses and Des didn’t. You know how the story ended.

Melbourne also wanted Brooks.

We have ruled out almost every constant since 2012 except Brooks

If you don't find the exact player (CB mentioned Maloney ) to play with him he will never be a constant thread

His running game is falling in a hole as well ...another tough call for Madge to make asap

Geo’s applying lipstick ...help !

I still think it's all mindset with Brooks.
If he had better confidence and ownership of the team he could be anything. But he always seems too unsure of himself. He plays like a kid on debut who is afraid to overcall anybody else.
He needs to back himself more and realise that it's his team. Everyone else in the team needs to be able to look to the halfback for stability and direction. At the moment they aren't able to do that with Brooks. The flow on effect is huge.

Brooks has had plenty of tutoring and good players around him to make a much bigger impact during games,I just don't think he has what it takes to be a great halfback, which many said he would be after his debut..
Josh Reynolds was pointing and shouting at the players tonight, kicking well, defending well and trying to give the ball out wide much more than Benji does and Brooks should be doing that...

People have been saying that Brooks won’t shine unless the forwards win the battle. Well the forwards did pretty well for about 65 mins (until Packer killed it) and Brooks still didn’t shine. No more excuses. The new rule should suit him down to the ground, a running halfback and still he doesn’t shine. He had an exceptional season a couple of years ago but cannot reproduce that form. I’ll be disappointed if he is in the side next week.

We weren't winning the ruck , but we hung in their

Does he have an injury ..the few times he took on the line he was slow ..slower than I've ever seen him

There were times we were winning and bending them back. Not a lot of times mind you, but they are the opportunities you need to grab. Brooks didn’t. Not sure if he’s injured. To me he looks scared as if he is going to be found out. I might be reading to much into that but he certainly doesn’t fill you with confidence.

Yeah he seems to have far less confidence when we play sides with far bigger forward packs

Brooks is here until when ........2022 or 2023

He has also played the most games without a finals appearance .....

Okay, you taking ash taylor? Mitchell Pearce? Chad Townsend? Brodie Croft? Jake Clifford? Blake Green? Ryley Jacks? Kyle Flanagan? Lachlan Lewis? Ben Hunt? Adam Clune?

Ash Taylor made Brooks look second rate only a week ago.

And I think Taylor is probably the most overrated player in the NRL.

What does that tell you about Brooks?

Time to stop blaming dominant players for stifling Brooks game - Moses Farah Benji have all copped it. Grant comes into the side and immediately takes a dominant role. It's either in you or it's not. Brooks is a skilled player and has become a very good defender but there is nothing to suggest that he will ever instinctively take control of the team - regardless of who plays inside or outside him.

There is a reason for that ! The coach will be long gone before he sees out his contract ..

I’m not giving up on him ...... yet!
But getting close.
Trouble is you get rid of him and he will serve up what Moses is producing.
That’s just our luck.

Worst comes to worse we have a goal kicker with Taylor

I think Brooks is fine, he's not a match winner or a leader, he's a role player. You need those sorts of players. I'd take him over most halves in the game. The trouble is our expectations for him are too high. Most halves look good when the team is going well and don't look good when they're not and he's one of those. Very few players (Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk, DCE, Thurston, Benji, Shaun Johnson) are able to actually change the momentum of a game with their brilliance and he's definitely not one of them. But as for dumping him, who is his replacement out there? Where are you buying a better player from? It's frustrating watching him play badly in a match like tonight, but it's only a reflection of where this team was at in terms of organisation and attack. People flat footed, Grant doing circles, Reynolds doing three things at once and Brooks confused and a bit uncertain about what to do. It was ugly tonight, and so was his performance, but there's no better option and he's still better than most and not the problem in this team.

Arguably the most inane post I’ve read here in 10+ years.

We need an organiser, we don’t have one at the moment. Nobody is directing the team around. I don’t see a lot of talk and communications out there in attack.

I see this comment made about Brooks a lot. It's rubbish. How do you see talk and communications when you watch the game on TV? I didn't see anyone talking tonight except Josh Hodgson.

Robbie Farah said numerous times last year how much Brooks' communications had improved. He wouldn't just say that. Moses talked a bunch, he's well-known for it and he's got a wooden spoon to show for all of his troubles.
