Backing a half that can’t even get a repeat set … laughable

He is actually 7th in the NRL for fdo.. shocked me too..

1st for line engaged, he and AD only non top 8 halves in top 10 for TA's, Top 5 for kick metres.

If we made the 8, this thread doesnt exist. If we could defend, we are in the 8.

Yep and the plan to address that appears to be move on anyone that can actually defend at NRL Standard

What’s the point in paying and playing a half just to tackle ?
He’s got no kicking game mate ..
is that why he’s a half .. only has half a game ?

He’s had heaps of try assists this year off kicks ! What are you talking about? The lack of kicking yesterday , to me , appears to have been a tactic to nullify thier back 3 . Worked until they took hitups and ran at the middle third , and Walters’ arm grabbing and Tuki just bouncing off stronger more developed men .

Also we just haven’t figured out where the thresholds are with holding down in the ruck . Other teams have it sussed . We are either too long or short , every week . Seriously we have Gavin Badger , how is he not on top of this . I would make it his direct responsibility to get the ruck speed right .

The only kick he's got is the chip kick near the try line for Maumalo or Doueihi. He doesn't force repeat sets or set up tries with grubber, he doesn't kick 40/20's and his long kicking is just abysmal. It's the biggest weakness in his game and in a league that relies on pressure and field position more and more every week it's costly

Serious question, when was the last time Brooks kicked a 40/20 or has he ever kicked one? I think the answer would give a fair measurement of his kicking game.

Wasn't it last week?

@Leck answered me, it was a couple weeks ago, i asked because i didn't recall him ever kicking one, but i suppose that would be due to me looking away from the tv screen most of the time fearing about another try will be conceded by our team or too disgusted about another dumb error, so that's why i miss watching most of the gane ?

But it’s been his only one this year

He dropped the footy cold right after he did it too ?

Wonder if he got one in 2020? I can't recall one

338 pages of Brooks being rent free in certain peoples heads lol

Love him or hate him he’s here to stay until someone better displaces him so there’s no use banging on about how terrible at footy you think he is or how he ran over your cat

I loved that damn cat. I'll never forgive him

Hopefully Hastings is given an actual chance at taking his jersey

It’s time for Madge to give Brooks the Captaincy and actually give him the team. Work on fitting the team around Brooks

Brooksy ain't a talker
It’s time for Madge to appoint Doueihi captain
I think most would agree
Enough said

I’m hoping Madge will try it for the last 2 games.

Unfortunately don't think AD will be playing the last 2 games.
Went off with a knee injury, hopefully nothing serious and just a burner.

I don't know how to get these stats,
But i'm very interested to know as well.

I think it is just best if WT didn't have Luke Brooks and Luke Brooks didn't have WT. For both parties, I think it is time to move on.

He has to go.
That’s all there is to it.

As someone else said, the guy is an anchor.
Perfect metaphor.
Management has to realize the sunk costs.

It happens. Deal with it. Stop putting it off.

Get him a new club or don’t, pay them as much of his salary as it takes, or don’t.
Whatever it takes.
Just get rid.

Trouble is our ship has more anchors than a bar full of Sailors..

I don't care if we have to pay 500k of his salary he needs to go by the end of this year cause he may be the punching bag for the team but my God is it warranted he was nowhere to be seen on Saturday no repeat sets just threw the ball around and basically said here you try and do it the job as a halfback is to lead your team around not sit back and hope someone else picks up the slack for you

Love Brooks and always wanted to see him as a running 6 without having the pressure to game manage

But it’s come to the point where it’s just best if he goes, I hope he has success wherever he goes (not against us) but I don’t see it being at the tigers anymore

We've all given brooks enough chances to be THAT GUY at the club and he hasn't taken it in fact he's actually gone to other way I think the best thing for both parties is to shake hands say you're sorry and go and wish them the best of luck roosters did it with pearce broncos did it with Wally Lewis Newcastle did it with Matt Johns (good half just had to be the brother of the goat) this is rugby league it happens

Brooks even being muttered in the same sentence as those guys!

If Broncos could do it to the King and Newcastle to one of their favourite son’s (and brother’s), then how much more so for Brooks.

It’s a full on joke!

If, and that is an if for now, Sheens' role is broadened by our CEO to oversee Maguire (if he is still at the club), then I hope we can see Brooks play the style of game he did under Cleary. Sheens recruited Brooks to the Club and no doubt has strong views on how he should be used.

The style that got us to ninth again. The style that never stands up when the game counts. The style that hides from must win games. Brooks is a myth. Still living of the back of his debut. I get your related but come on man, call a spade a spade.

He will never succeed. There will always be an excuse. Moses was to loud. Robbie was running too much. Benji was too dominant. Douhei is too dominant. His go to play is give it to a forward in the opposition 20m. Or mid field bomb that no one has time to get too. If your doing video and your a winger or fullback playing brooks you would get the week off.

To use a business analogy Luke is like a worker who stars in the beginning and both the employer and he thinks its a natural progression that sometime in the future he will be the leader of the business. He can tackle hard and often, run the ball , kick long , occasionally put a straight runner thru the gap etc etc in isolation but the problem is he is not a natural leader and never had or will ever have the personality or game reading ability to fulfill the role we need to go to another level. It’s not his fault (its genetics) and its not the clubs fault ( they have tried everything) What usually happens ? The person gets crucified and leaves .Who wins? No one. We lose a player that is good in so many aspects of the game and loves the club. What should the club do? Sit down with him and tell him straight we have tried for 9 years to give you the opportunity to lead the club but for these reasons its now time to decide the future. We want you to be a one club player but need to take the pressure of expectation off you and find someone who can assume the chief play maker role and find the next best role that suits you skillset and ability . That could be a running 5/8, a ball playing 13 cause you have strong defence and passing ability and speed of the mark or even a 14 that can help the club get to where it must go in the next 2-3 years. This will take the pressure off and you can Focus on what’s in front of you ..not so much what’s around you and what needs to happen next. Of course you will at some point have to take a pay cut and accept a lesser role but the upside is you will still make good money and wont have to suffer the continuous comparisons to the few high level 7’s that have played the game ( and the stress of expectations that is associated with this position) , be recognised for what you are truly good at , be responsible for making this club successful and most importantly, enjoy a less visible life with your partner (and kids in the future). What do you think Luke?
