If someone offered full freight tomorrow for Brooks youd take it in a heartbeat and work out the rest later!

Sheens is not the coach?

Club issued a statement from Sheens

Wests Tigers statement on Luke Brooks

Wests Tigers Director of Football Tim Sheens has issued the following statement regarding halfback Luke Brooks.

“Luke Brooks is contracted with Wests Tigers until at least the end of 2023 and, contrary to media speculation, will not be leaving the club.

“Luke is a proud local junior and an extremely talented halfback, who has shown an unquestionable level of commitment to Wests Tigers over a number of years. It is clear that he remains an integral part of the long-term plans of Wests Tigers and, in speaking with him, he too is equally focused and passionate on delivering sustained success for the club.

“Wests Tigers have been definitive on this matter and will continue to reiterate this against any untrue speculation. It is unfair on Luke, his teammates and family, as well as those involved with the club, to raise false conjecture on his future lying away from Wests Tigers when both he and the club are united on delivering success together.

“I have known Luke for a long time and am continually impressed by the way that he carries himself both on and off the field. I look forward to working with him again to give the proud Members of this club the performances and results they deserve.”

Outstanding. Not because one agrees or disagrees with the sentiment, but because the statement has been made with firm conviction. Finally a statement from somebody at the club who doesn't sound like they are way out of their depth. Maybe we have finally filled that leadership hole.

Agreed 1000% - finally someone standing up and calling out directions for the players and the club

Agree re the conviction.
But, if it's only to keep Brooks then this is one time I wouldn't mind some hesitancy.

Full price move then its a win win, need to jump at the chance to move on from the anchor around our team, if not he will need to improve in a way that he has never shown us

Hastings 7 madden 6 if brooks goes

That would be the worst halves pairing in the comp by the length of Flemington straight.

Yet still miles better than the Brooks 7 Madden 6 we finished the season with

No it isn’t. You can’t claim that a player who isn’t even a proven NRL player would be a better option.

Well Brooks has proven that he's definitely not an NRL standard player so I will back Hastings

Typical a player we want to moves cant be moved and when we want a high grade player no one wants to leave their boots on the centre of excellence doormat

The club obviously does not want to move Brooks on,despite some of our supporter base

The "club"has plunged to 13th and heading south with a bullet.
Maybe it doesnt have all the answers...?

Brooksy loves this place , i just think he needs more around him

This is the problem summarised pretty well. He’s not the player that will win you games without a system around him. It’s a bit rough this is the standard. The issue is he’s paid like one.

I am not suggesting Brooks has played sufficiently well every game this season, but i still think there is a huge gap between him and Madden in pretty much every facet of the game. Considering they are our current first choice half backs I am happy to support Brooks until a better option presents. In saying this I wouldn’t bag the guy for wanting out - the way he has been treated and rubbished in the media, and by some supposed fans and apparently even club officials, is appalling in my view.

No way is Madden ahead of Hastings in the halfback stakes.

Agree 100%. However as I haven’t seen Hastings playing NRL at the tigers yet and i am not privy to how the coaches intend to fit him into the team, I haven’t included him in my post.

But he won’t be running the NRL team, otherwise he would be the coach and he isn’t.

If he effectively took that role over:
1. There would be no accountability for the coach (who appears to be on considerably more money than Sheens)

2. I couldn’t see Madge staying

3. Who will be doing all his other jobs, while he is doing someone else’s job?

4. Then who would come here? Some junior who would be way out of his depth?

Needs a Decision Maker to take the lead and free him up to use his talent.

Brooksy is good player and I want him here, Just needs his partner in crime.

Im Hoping Its gonna be Hastings until Madden grows into the player some of the smarter judges think he will be .

No big deal… just like saying the board is behind the coach.
If he does mean what he said it proves we should have left him to stay in England.
Still can’t see why we want a bloke back who we punted and then sued us.

Thoughts and prayers to the Tigers organisation

Not much doubt, if any still exists, as to who calls the shots. Might see a lot less from now on of Lee and others making announcements re players etc. Far better look for the club.

Like I said, why would his first press release back be a “support of the board” type statement that ultimately is meaningless. It would totally undermine him.

Whats with this idea Hastings isn't good enough to be halfback and that he's going to be our worst signing ever ? I understand brooks has his followers who will follow him blindly off a cliff but he is clearly not up to scratch in halfback or in captaincy but yet a lot of people won't give a bloke who is a vocal leader who will win at all costs a shot cause "if he was really that good he wouldn't be in England" sure England isnt the nrl but it also isn't group 7 3rd division either now im not saying Hastings is going to be joey johns but what I am is give the bloke a chance he wants to come here to lead us out of this mess we are in which is alot more than we saw from brooks and a number of other players this season

Is it possible to build someone up without putting others down - including your fellow forumers?
There really is no need to insult anyone that feels any loyalty to Brooks, as it only makes it more difficult to use the forum as a communication channel for when we'd like to read or discuss any matters relating to the team.
As a self-confessed fan girl, I honestly have no problems with reading any negative critique on him but there seems to an underlying hostility and vindictiveness that tries to goad others into antisocial behaviour. It's totally unnecessary.
Our passion for the club is just as strong as yours (despite any differences of opinions) but with all due respect sometimes you should look at your own actions first before questioning ours.

Brooks is not a dud. I am cofident he will have a good 2022 season playing for wests tigers.

Yep 9th time lucky. I can feel it in my bones.

Many on here may not have agreed with Sheensy’s statement on Brooks, which is fair enough, but i thought the tone was better than the club’s usual dribble. It was strong, clear and supportive and also carried a message that had a dig at the rumour mongers and knockers.
P.S. Just hope that the club becomes a no nonsense club and shows they mean what they say, whatever it is they say, and doesn’t back out or back down or change like the weather!
