The fact is, Hastings will have the mentality to win which will see him pair up with Brooks as the organiser between them both.

Doueihi will be out at the start of the season, but if the combo goes good between Brooks / Hastings, then more or less he will move to centre.

Let’s hope Brooks, and his loyal band of followers, don’t blame Hastings like they did Farah, Marshall, Reynolds, the forwards, the coach etc when he fails again.

Brooks won a dally m halfback of the year not long ago with one of the weakest forward packs in front of him the guy can play if he has better organising players around him such as Hastings & Hodgson.

Every time Brooks has played with organising players he has whinged publicly about "Not having the keys". He's a myth

"Whinged publicly".....any actual evidence of this?

I also doubt that he's said anything...
It's moreso been reported in the media that "It's his team now" and "Given Brooks the reigns" etc...
I remember him being quizzed on it in interviews and agreeing that it was his job.
But he's never come out and complained about anything - Much less about the control of the team.
The negators in one breathe will complain he doesn't talk - Or doesn't say anything... Then say he complains about his role in the team.
It can't be both.

Brooks rarely speaks publicly and there is no way he ever complained about his role when he did. He may repeat something a journalist said involving 'keys' but he's never complained about them.

You put Brooks in one of the top teams like Storm or Roosters & you will see the difference he is not the problem.

Brooks is on par with Brodie Croft… he would have been punted.

Let's not be silly now. Brodie Croft is another thing entirely.

Come on ... looking at them they could almost be brothers.
I put Brooksy between him and the non performing Ash Taylor.

The thing is though, if the club was to move him on, Brooks would get another gig. Croft hasn’t.

And Brooks would have Half a dozen clubs after him if he did leave - The afore mentioned players don't / wouldn't / Didn't

Well, maybe Newcastle would want him if Pearce goes ... and maybe the Bulldogs.
You're wrong about the other two.
Croft was given another chance at Brisbane after Melbourne didn't want him. Taylor was poached from Brisbane to the Titans.
Both failed.
If someone was silly enough to take Brooks they'd get the same result.
What you see is what you get... he's not going to play any differently no matter where he goes.
Just wish he wasn't stinking up our team.

But you see how the top sides operate with the decisions of the Roosters with Flanagan and the Storm with Croft

They don't cut it and are unsuitable ...and they are gone quick smart .....

We need to take something from that .....too many players are given far too long to make it here

Croft and Flanagan wish they could have games like Brooks. They are not appropriate comparisons. Not saying Luke is anything above average but he is a whole level above those two. I think he's not reached the levels wer want due to coaching, self-confidence and the roster around him. Ivan got the talent out of him.

It is possible for people to interpret situations from a different perspective. There can be both criticism of Brooksy and the above mentioned at the same time. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Brooks needs to improve a number of areas of his game AND the club has long needed to improve a number of areas of their squad.

Also, point me to a Top 5 comp halfback in a perennially losing club. It's not a coincidence that the top rated halves are at the best performing teams. Now, that may be for that reason alone, or, more likely, it may be for a myriad of reasons.

Storm are not successful simply because of Hughes. Rabbitohs are not successful simply because of Reynolds.
Penrith are not successful simply because of Cleary.

They are however, key factors.

Likewise, Tigers are not perpetually unsuccessful because of Brooks. He is however, a key factor in that outcome.

It's not one or the other, it's both.

Huh? You don't agree that he played better under Ivan? You genuinely think Kyle Flanagan is better than Brooks? If that's the case I'll have some of what you're having.

All I know is this constant banter about Brooks is right up there with root canal therapy. Let’s give it a break for a day or two, surely there has to be a rumour from a far removed source about a potential signing…if not make one up, it’s better than endless posts on Brooks

I am not a fanboy BUT I am sick and tired of people putting the boot in.

Tired of threads being hijacked to put the boot into Brooks as well.

Mods - do your job - move the Brooks rubbish over to that thread - i want discussion around new signings - Brooks is here - suck it up and move on - until he's not - no amount of whinging and whining will make it any different....MOVE ON..

Wests Tigers sign Cameron Munster on a 3 year deal.....Not really - just trying to divert from the Luke Brooks posts (apologies) 🙂

You have missed the entire point

The Roosters or Storm wouldn't keep the leading play maker if they couldn't lead them to the finals for 8 seasons .....

Another thread where I just shake my head.

Notwithstanding whether you rate Brooks or not.. People whinging about the club making a firm and decisive statement in quick time. Not long ago people whinging the club does not say enough quick enough.

I'm glad I'm not running the club. You would never keep everyone happy.

Not about keeping people happy

All about making our club strong ....consistantly strong

Make the tough calls and win more footy games than we lose ....

Am I asking for too much ......

As someone who thought Brooks should go, I’m happy Sheens has come out and put an end to speculation. This what we need and hopefully it happens more often when rubbish is posted by the media.

I've just caught up on all the weekends posts and man this place is really depressing at times. I've never seen so much negativiy and agression towards others. There really is a massive issue here and it has nothing to do with the team we all support.

People see a possibility of a massive change in the roster, one many think is a vital.element in out consistent failure.... It's the shot down. By the club happy to continue on with. Mediocrity..... I'd say. People. Are frustrated

Very rarely has this club ever had a complete roster overhaul. The closest it’s come was when one was forced after we lost Woods, Tedesco and Moses. Apart from that, the club has never done a Bulldogs this year and released a dozen players and signed a dozen.

When I said massive change I was just referring to. Rooks and his position on the field.... It all starts with him

Watch a set of six, it actually normally starts with a few charges from forwards or big outside backs, then when the timing, momentum and position on the field is right, the creative players take over. Nothing ‘starts with him’

Probably different people no doubt

Probably, so how does the club appease everyone?

Here's what Brooks did well in 2021:
1. Managing a set inside our own 40m.
2. Long kicks. Found grass more often than not.
3. Cross field kicks.
4. One on one defence - made the right call on who to tackle most times
5. Organising shape.

The bad in 2021:
1. Red-zone attack
2. Second phase play
3. Variation in shape - when it's clear our shape was not going to get a positive result, he didn't offer many variation plays, e.g. drop under, cut-out ball.
