Just seen on nrl 360 that brooks is on $850k a year that can’t be true I can see why he gets bagged a lot he’s in the same class as ash Taylor with that money

**I assume it was a typo**, the list appeared to be in order of salary top to bottom. Brooks was last on the list, below Moses at $750k. I’m pretty sure it was meant to say $650k. The other players on the list of “pricey halves not delivering to their value” were:
Milford 1 million
Morgan 1 million
Hunt 1 million
Moses $750k

Im shocked that Ash Taylor didn’t make the list.

Wasn't a typo, they said Moses was on the least money.
Brooks is not worth anywhere near that $850K.
Funny how Mbye gets drawn and quartered for his performance/salary while Brooks gets a million excuses.

People seem to be tied up with money. Brooks has this year to take WT to the semis or likely to be moved on come seasons end. Like he has taken up kicking goals. Maybe the next Andrew Johns tag was too much for him. AD back this week could be a blessing.

Trolling is frowned upon here mate.

It's a real indictment on the league at the moment - many highly under-performing halves going about the game right now. Apart from those top few sides, most halves are struggling.

Trouble is Tigerblood,Luke has had more excuses than anybody else in this squad and previous squad members,THIS YEAR he has to get it right, everything is in his favour to do so,Madge, the club and we the members and fans have given him more than enough time and excuses...I have been critical of Luke many times and this year I said he will have a standout year to shine,I hope he doesnt prove me wrong...

Don't worry us Luke Brook fans have plenty more excuses ready. We also have long gloats prepared for when he plays well.

Is it , or is that the going rate for a half in first grade , and actually your expectations , are far too high , because of the fact the preceding halves to this generation , most would be top 20 ever . So now everyone wants Elite halves play , when actuality , what your seeing IS elite halves play .

Seriously , think about it ? Are all these halves garbage ? Or something else going on . Like the fact everyone is complaining about the lack of points being scored , or that attrition has taken over the game . The rule changes are an example of this . How many of the top 10 players in the game are halves . 1 maybe ? In Cleary , which I don’t think he’s that good either ? So by my count it’s zero . Go back 5-10 years , and it would be closer to 5 at any point . The game has shifted to be more about the the fullback , rather than 10-15 years ago it being about the half/6.

Someone needs to tell Brooks he doesn't have to be so open with his Rugby Union auditions ...probably leave them to training sessions

I had given up on it going anywhere near over the crossbar right until the last few metres and then it went well inside the post.

He had a couple of shocking kicks and another poor one, though he nailed the goalkicking and as a shock, even a floating bomb that caused an error, but certainly needs to do better this weekend.

I hope Brooks is practicing his kicking game during the week. Let's hope he can refind some confidence through his kicking game and build on that.

He used to be such a good long and short kicker, now he seems scared he's going to make a mistake so he just pussy foots around the field. Entirely the wrong attitude and if it doesn't change he'll get dropped soon.

It’s the kick pressure.
If he has time he kicks well, when his rushed he is poor.
Can’t we get more pressure on him at training so that he can work out how to combat this?

Btw. The first try was a good example of Brooks instinct at play.
His come across to the short side sees that Raiders are short and Klokstad is in the defnsive line behind the ruck.
Klokstad rushes out (leaves before the ball is played through btw) and charges on Brooks.
He steps inside and engages next defender passing to an open Liddle.
His other option would of been to take the ball out right for another second row hit up as it was play number 2.

Floating bomb was a miss kick

Probably been mentioned on here already, but theres a lot of negativity I don't have the time nor gumption to wade through, but have we noted that he kicked 2/2 including one from the sideline?
I saw a lot of average goal kickers on the weekend, (Teddy's one made me choke on my coffee) but Brooks kicked nicely, good to know he is our back up if Doueihi struggles.

Maybe; and that was always my point with Brooks. By all means replace him, but please tell me first who are going to replace him with, because I am only aware of 4 maybe 5 clear-cut superior options in the whole competition.

You look at the Grand Finalist halves past 10 years, it's repetitive reading:
2020 - Hughes, Munster, Cleary, Luai
2019 - Cronk, Keary, Wighton, Sezer
2018 - Cronk, Keary, Croft, Munster
2017 - Cronk, Munster, Morgan, Martin
2016 - Townsend, Maloney, Cronk, Green
2015 - Thurston, Morgan, Hunt, Milford
2014 - A Reynolds, Keary, Hodkinson, J Reynolds
2013 - Pearce, Maloney, DCE, Foran
2012 - Cronk, Widdop, Keating, J Reynolds
2011 - DCE, Foran, Johnson, Maloney

Of 10 available slots, Cronk appears 5 times, Maloney + Keary 3 times, DCE + Foran + J Reynolds + Munster + Morgan 2 times.

Now do it with every team that has played finals in the same period.

Brooks is not the sole reason....but he's in a position that is critical to a team, maintaining / mounting pressure, closing out games, creating plays.

I don't think anyone expects to snare DCE / Munster...A solid performer would do.

To be honest, another Brooks level would do at this point. Maybe a change would do both the club and the player good.

New to the site and this is my first comment - been disappointed with Brooks for a little while.

How about this comment from the left field - Daine Laurie as half. Not sure but I thought that I would throw it in and see the reactions.

Daine does seem to have good vision in attack: bit of zip about him and good support player. He has done some good defensive work. Don't know if he is an organizer but he might be worth considering.

He also appears to have a 'lip' which I suppose would be good.
