Well, there you go. Basically confirmed that Benji got in his way and overcalled him.

Every fair minded supporter could see it, only the Brooks bashers and Benji lovers ignored it

I completely disagree with this idea. I reckon Grant went to Benji more but mainly because Benji was probably the most creative half in the comp last year. He was creating stuff left, right and centre.

The problem with Benji is that he was woefully inconsistent throughout the game. His defense was terrible. He came up with heaps of poor options.

Brooks also didn't play poorly because Benji over played him.

I reckon him and Douiehi in the halves can work.

He might be the more creative - however when Brooks had the overlap etc. it was the Legend that bombed the try by overcalling Brooks and in that instance he was non creative one and went against the game plan.

Brooks was awful in 2020 because he played bad - he was in awful form all year. 3 try assists and 2 of those were in one of the last games of the season (the other one being his first game).

The ball went to Benji more because he was more likely to do something with it. Even in the last game when Benji went off it was AD that stepped up and he hadn't played in the halves all year.

Don't get me wrong i'm extremely happy Benji is going but blaming him for everything is ridiculous.

So true ..
It’s always someone else’s fault

Brooks / Reynolds ... Reynolds sucked

2021 it’s Doueihi’s fault

Agreed.

Poor forward pack was a reason I read on here for Brook's not ReAcHiNg HiS FuLl PoTenIaL.

The same Brooks bashers claimed that in 18 & 19 that the halves quality in the NRL was at an all time low lol, he can never win

I get we still didn’t make finals those years but we literally lost 3 games in 2019 due to terrible goal kicking, from memory.

Many forget Brooks was baby sitting a forward in defence.

I'm not Brooks biggest fan but I am interested to see how he goes if we improve our yardage through the middle. Now you can criticise me all you want on this point, but Brooks hasn't really played behind a dominant forward pack since he came into grade. I think the most intimidating our pack has looked was when we had Marty T, Ava S, Gavet etc coming off the bench and providing real go forward - I think we had a fair start to the season before the forwards fell away and so did our season.

At the end of the day, halves need space - it's the forwards job to give them that space and last season we struggled through the middle of the field. We did well in the opposition 20, but our forwards struggled to make an impression coming out of our end and we were no better than mid-field for metres gained.

Brooks has always looked most dangerous when he runs the ball, but to run the ball effectively you want the defence on the back foot so he's got time to make a decision - run/pass/kick. I think our forward pack is stronger for next season so if we can start rolling teams through the middle, Liddle and Simpkin won't need to be told twice when to run and we know how crisp Liddle's passing game is.

Defensively he's gone from being a speedbump to one of the better defending halves. His long kicking game is atrocious and wouldn't worry a 13 year old kid, and that's a problem along with the fact he seems quiet on the field in terms of talk.

Again, I've got my reservations on Brooks hitting his ceiling, but behind a strong pack, he can be relatively decent.

I have no input on this , other than I watched him in CC cup last year , and he was “fine”.
Brooks was playing NRL 2 years younger than him . And playing “fine “. Just for reference .

If you have ever played as a 1st receiver behind a pack that is struggling, you will understand why there are people defending Brooks.
That said if he can't get it going this year, we will need to look at plan B.

Put the violin away.
The real fact is he has shown he can’t run a team no matter who is next to him.
No amount of him saying it’s ‘his team’ makes him even the slightest bit more dominant.
He has improved in defence but that’s it ... and that’s not what the team needs from him.
No doubt he has some talent but the improvement needed in his attitude is only going to come from between his ears... and that doesn’t seem to be a strong point.
Let’s hope, after all these years, it clicks.
I’m not holding my breath but hope he provides a miracle for the team’s sake.

Sorry, I didn’t realise you were the know it all of the WT’s, it’s an opinion, you are entitled to yours, but shove your condescending remarks where the sun doesn’t shine.

BTW many good halves have made the transition to become better 9’s, we need to have the best players on the park, just not your your favourites.

*“The respect and experience I had for Benji in that space... I didn’t want to get in his way. That’s something Madge and I have been speaking about what to do moving forward to best help our team."*

Well, there you go. Basically confirmed that Benji got in his way and overcalled him.

(Source: https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2020/12/08/brooks-looking-forward-to-potential-doueihi-halves-combination/)

Brooks / Moses .. Moses sucked
Brooks / Benji ..Benji sucked
Brooks / Reynolds ... Reynolds sucked
Farah was a ball hog
Grant was a ball hog
2021 it’s Doueihi’s fault
Have I missed anyone?

Nailed it!

And until he proves otherwise this is the ledger of Luke Brooks.

He can definitely play a role this season but just how strong a grip of the number 7 he has comes down to the man himself.

No more excuses.

Try him at 9, before it’s too late

So we push Liddle and Simpkin back to CC, that sounds like something Tim Sheens would do.

So what sort of message does that send to JL JS.
