Yea you’re definitely right hobbo. Except how the facts don’t add up to your imaginary arguement . Or stats outside this past year .

Dally M would turn in his grave if he knew.

LOL . Ok I’ll bite . Who’s our saviour then ? Gareth Widdop ? Benji ? If the answers yes , you need to recalibrate your ability sensor .

Jock Madden is his name .
Kicks goals too !

I have no input on this , other than I watched him in CC cup last year , and he was “fine”.
Brooks was playing NRL 2 years younger than him . And playing “fine “. Just for reference .

Put the violin away.
The real fact is he has shown he can’t run a team no matter who is next to him.
No amount of him saying it’s ‘his team’ makes him even the slightest bit more dominant.
He has improved in defence but that’s it ... and that’s not what the team needs from him.
No doubt he has some talent but the improvement needed in his attitude is only going to come from between his ears... and that doesn’t seem to be a strong point.
Let’s hope, after all these years, it clicks.
I’m not holding my breath but hope he provides a miracle for the team’s sake.

Once again , already has clicked . Go back 2 years to our amazing team of players like Naqaima , Tui Lolohea , MWZ , Mahe Fonua , and he went top 5 in most categories .
With amazingly dismal forward packs . That and 2019 should have been more than enough evidence , to get you to jump off your thought train .
People saying it’s everyone else’s fault make me laugh . What more do you want ? The team in 2018 was beyond dismal . It was laughable now I look at it. And he did pretty well.
You’re just not being objective at all .
It’s like he turned up at your daughters 18th , got way too drunk and vomited on your front porch . Now 20 years later he’s your son in law . Provided you 3 grand kids , your daughters happy in her million dollar house and great husband , but you can’t stop thinking about how this punk kid vomited on your newly put in front deck 20 years ago. Lol

Although your love for Brooks shows no bounds unfortunately his talent has plenty of limitations .
As a supporter I hope he can actually show some grit and consistency this year and a real desire to run the team.... rather than just mouthing the words again.
As a halfback he has speed and relatively good defence - after that the cupboard is pretty bare.
Poor kicking game, can't set up his outside men and can't control the pace of a game.
How do all your statistics help there?
Once again - I hope, like a bottle of fine wine, he comes good.
Just been waiting a very long time.

I’ve already stated how none of what your saying hasn’t any evidence other than your opinion, which we can hardly say is objective .
He had a crap year last year . We all know that . But to imply that he’s never done anything is ridiculous and more to do with your sad , unrealistic expectations because some journo said 10 years ago he was the second coming of Andrew Johns.
I’m not in love with the bloke , I’m just loyal to a guy who’s shown us loyalty . And who has played well enough to warrant that loyalty . But some of you guys are always looking over the neighbours fence. That’s not me .and I’m not apologising for thinking swapping Brooks for Widdop is a crap idea . Or last year Brodie Croft LOL. Which was a thing .
I think he’s very good , is paid the correct amount when you look at the market for good halves and hopefully can prove once and for all his value.
But the reality with many people is, if he doesn’t win 3 premierships and play origin for 5 years he will go down as a bust . Which I don’t agree with.

Shown us loyalty lmao
He couldn’t sign quick enough cause no one else would take him .

Like I said , no basis in reality ..

I'm not Brooks biggest fan but I am interested to see how he goes if we improve our yardage through the middle. Now you can criticise me all you want on this point, but Brooks hasn't really played behind a dominant forward pack since he came into grade. I think the most intimidating our pack has looked was when we had Marty T, Ava S, Gavet etc coming off the bench and providing real go forward - I think we had a fair start to the season before the forwards fell away and so did our season.

At the end of the day, halves need space - it's the forwards job to give them that space and last season we struggled through the middle of the field. We did well in the opposition 20, but our forwards struggled to make an impression coming out of our end and we were no better than mid-field for metres gained.

Brooks has always looked most dangerous when he runs the ball, but to run the ball effectively you want the defence on the back foot so he's got time to make a decision - run/pass/kick. I think our forward pack is stronger for next season so if we can start rolling teams through the middle, Liddle and Simpkin won't need to be told twice when to run and we know how crisp Liddle's passing game is.

Defensively he's gone from being a speedbump to one of the better defending halves. His long kicking game is atrocious and wouldn't worry a 13 year old kid, and that's a problem along with the fact he seems quiet on the field in terms of talk.

Again, I've got my reservations on Brooks hitting his ceiling, but behind a strong pack, he can be relatively decent.

Good points Willow. I’d add that I think that it may also be a factor of the style of play adopted by Madge. We are very flat. The best half in the club rounds was Cleary and when you watch him he has all the time in the world because he is a MILE behind the line. By comparison Brooks generally gets the ball on the line and has no time. But factor in his kicking

Much easier to have depth through the backs when the pack is rolling forward.

Brooks has no excuses in 2021. No benji to stifle him. No dominant hooker to cost him time with the ball. Forward pack looks great. Will the real Luke Brooks please stand up. It’s your time to shine and if you can’t shine time to move on.

I just heard Madge's press conference and he rated Brooks as one of the best halves he has worked with. I reckon Brooks has a lot of upsides to his game and I don't believe he has been poor for us.

I hope he kills it next year.

My feelings on this are, there's no disputing he went MIA this year but at the same time Brooks is not responsible for our inability to get out of our own end or the backs failure to compete or the lack of balance within the squad.
Despite the average kicking game, he has enough talent to lead the team in other ways and just has to come out of his shell already. I know its only because I'm a huge fan of him but I can see him in a similar mould as Keary and if he can just get some confidence.

When a side plays bad,its either the forwards or the halves cop the flak.6 forwards share the blame and not often an individual, the half or 5/8 normaly cop it alone.ITS A TOUGH GIG BEING A HALF IN A LOSING SIDE!

But how long have we waited for this to happen, what’s it been now, 7 or 8 years?
There are a lot of peoples jobs on the line, if results are poor, I don’t think they will put up with Luke much longer if he is deemed to be the problem.

I'm in the same boat as you, but choose not to ignore the fact that this team has never had the best environment or more solid foundation to realistically turn him into the talent we've always expected/anticipated.

Well, he is the man next season, I hope he goes well.

As i have said previously ,nearly every half except Cronk (lucky to play in one of the best sides) have all copped a serve.2 yrs ago DCE was copping it,Taylor,Hunt, etc etc ,no doubt their forums have been just as critical. The halves today get very little chance to run,4 tackles and kick. The kick is all important today.

The Roosters are struggling to find a good halves pairing. We need to be a realistic and understand there is a shortage of quality halves across the NRL. We are lucky we have Brooks, Doueihi, Mbye and young Madden.

Maybe we can convince the Roosters on a trade
Mbye for Sitili Tupouniua
Now we are talking

It’s true mate. Every few months we go through this song and dance . You stay the same and the people arguing with you change . And you know as well as we do that the storm had a big money offer on the table at the time of extension , as well as the dogs .

We have been through this before Hobbo - you have had it explained to you about Melbourne. You keep saying the same thing.

Simple answer is - you are incorrect.

As the number 1 Luke Brooks sympathiser you conveniently left out the word “apparently “.

“Big money” lol

No you inset that word , because your bias can’t think rationally about this. Not a brooks sympathiser , just a realist .some of you guys really do suck as fans . Even when we are winning you especially say things like , “only a matter of time before we are crap again “ . You’re like the fan in stands in major league 1 and 2 . Just constant negativity.
