Luke Brooks interview from this morning, for anyone interested.
https://player.whooshkaa.com/episode?id=794449

Lauren, the one thing that I can’t seem to unhear from that interview was Brooks response to the question..
“who plays golf in your team?”
“Awe? Gee? I don’t know? Moses Mbye plays golf” Brooks replied
Anyone else?
Mmm? No I don’t think so? Said Brooks
I may be misquoting , but words to that effect as I remember?
As an isolated question it may not mean much, however, on another occasion bloke in a bar asked the same question of Nofa who plays golf regularly with Benji. Now, when asked the same question Nofa thought for a moment and could not name a single player in the team who plays golf.
Here’s the thing that I have trouble with.... I am now wondering how these guys think they can win games in a team sport if they don’t know each other better than they know their opponents?
I have difficulty reconciling this because these two players are juniors who have played quite a few seasons for WT.

I wouldn't look into it so much...Brooks has always been terrible talking to the media.

?
I think you misunderstood me? I thought Brooks spoke well. My point was that it is a simple question and although he thought long and hard he really didn’t know anyone in the team who plays golf. It’s a popular game with nrl players. If you were asked the same question you could name at least two.

Yes Lauren its a shock, I would have guessed most of the guys played , and at least a half dozen seriously. Maybe its all playstation today?

The only thing I took out of all that fluff was that Brooks will be allowed to play both sides of the field. He looked very one dimensional when having to stick to the same side last year.

Take it way back to his debut game where he was just running around freely, chiming into the play he actually looked really dangerous.

I realise it’s a trend to have 2 halves and restrict them to left or right side these days, but really? Why place those restrictions on your 7? Or your 6 for that matter?

Correct! It's interesting that Madge says in that article that traditionally the halves play left or right. I'd say that's only a very recent strategy, maybe the past 7 or 8 seasons. Hardly traditional.

I just think there's something wrong with the way we talk about success. You see the Roosters and Robinson and Cam Smith and Bellamy all talking about their execution and focusing on consistency and refining their game or making less errors, and we're always talking about the finals and making the finals and how this year we really have to step up and all of that. One is talking about details and things that can be controlled, the other talking about fluff. I'm sure sports psychologists would find a problem with that. Stop talking about the finals, which is 26 rounds away, and start talking about round 1, talk about playing properly, building a team. All this 'Benji's gone and I can play now' rubbish is a little embarrassing for an experienced NRL halfback. He just sounds pretty soft and immature to be honest, and I've always liked him.

Good point watersider. As I’ve previously posted, it’s ok to have goals but let’s hear how you’re going to achieve them.

Luke Brooks has looked absolute money in this trial against Manly. Kicking goals too.

Running and passing game looked good, kicking game also looked ok.

He's never been a good speaker, it's just not who he is.

I thought his kicking game today was the worst part of an overall good performance. It may be confirmation bias on my part but a couple of kicks I noticed didn't put the opposition under any pressure.

He really performed to his potential. Consistency is key.

Its good to see Luke play the way he should....its also great to see him not be over called and do his own thing...great year ahead...
