I wonder how many games he gets this season. He was poor last year and was very poor in round one. He won't get the chop yet but how many games does he get before he's dropped? At least 5-6 you'd have to think.

Player swap with Jackson Hastings.
Do it now.
EDIT : Even a swap with Schuster would do.

What ive seen from Schuster, brooks and hastings wouldnt even compare to his bootlaces.

**Johns backs under-fire Brooks to bounce back**

Pressure is mounting on Luke Brooks' place in the Wests Tigers squad after his poor Round 1 performance against Canberra.

Brooks, Moses Mbye and Jacob Liddle were all well below their best in their side’s 30-12 loss to the Raiders at GIO Stadium on Sunday. “One thing I envied about other footballers was the ability to not care when they made a mistake.

“The ability to make an error and not care is what he needs, to almost play without a conscience.

“When I saw Brooks put that ball out of the field yesterday, I thought 'oh no'.

**“He’s a sensitive guy and I think sometimes he cares too much. I could see that weigh him down when he made the error.”**

Voss believes the playmaker should use his blistering pace more often to create scoring chances.

“I think he needs to start using his legs more,” Voss said.

“He’s got enough speed to get through a hole, that creates chances.

“When Luke Brooks is running, the Tigers get on the front foot.”

Brooks and the Tigers face a tough task in Round 2 as they take on the Sydney Roosters on Sunday afternoon.

Have been saying this for years, he looks to suffer from performance anxiety and it seems he has no bounce back factor. Needs to be more selfish/ruthless in attitude and temperament.

Maybe he needs to do a Billy Maddison and go back to under 8’s or something.

Personally Ive always thought Brooks had talent but was just in the mid range of talented halfbacks. Hes probably worth 500k at best.

The one thing that really annoys the crap out of me though is Luke's annual 'I will lead this team around' article that is done every start of the year. Someone at WT PR needs to stop doing articles like that as well as JL ' I will show Ricky I can play with dicipline' article and then go and do the exact opposite.

Not sure if Brooks is on social media but he needs to get off it and avoid the media because it effects his game.

Go out and produce instead of promising to produce!!

Where's Jackson Hastings when you need him?

It’s interesting that we were reportedly talking to him a month or so ago, someone must have had concerns? If true.

It's so weird that short kicking went from one of his strengths to one of his weaknesses. He barely forces repeat sets and sets up tries off kicks anymore, he was a specialist at it two years ago.

Funny thing is when Brooks finally gets quick ball out to him Laurie gets called up for a forward pass. He was through, using his running game.
I actually think that was one of his worse and better games rolled into one. I’m not sure he completely went into his shell, the kick out on the full affected him, you can just see it as a, oh no I’ve let the team down, moment. But In the second half he started to pull through. His play was inconsistent in execution but not effort. He was still in everything and he pulled off some really nice things and some really poor things as well.

I feel sorry for the kid. It may well turn out that he just isnt good enough and he exceeded his potential being in first grade this long. I think we all accept that as a real possibility.

But I keep thinking two things. He has never had a qualifty halves partner that wanted to support him and let him run the show, and hasnt had a good set of forwards in his whole grade career.

I know Benji was his 5/8th for years and no doubt tried to encourage him, but also one of the strongest personalities in the modern era to work with. His formative years were with Mitchell Moses (who is a knob, but suffers the same problem as in hasnt kicked on because hasnt done an apprenticeship with a good partner). Imagine playing next to a Michael Morgan, a Chad Townsend, a Sam Williams, a Luke Keary, someone like that. I wonder would that have made a difference in his educatio and confidence.

Oh no Hobbo ?
He'll come good, just some first game and team reshuffle jitters.

Come on Lauren those are straight from the Brooks standard excuse basket and are all used up. We need new ones!

He is supposed to step up. Not wait until an equally substandard halves partner come along (which has happened!).

All this crap that Benji stifled him. Benji wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire for the last few years and still Brooks sucked.
Did Benji stifle Prince? Or Lui? Even Moses to an extent?
It’s just garbage because we so desperately don’t want to believe that we wasted a decade investing in this guy. Every excuse is.

It sucks. I wanted him to be great too.

Huge achievement for Luke as the local junior is set to play his 150th NRL game and is the first halfback to reach the milestone for the club.

The playmaker made his NRL debut eight years ago and went on to be named 2014 Dally M Rookie of the Year and 2018 Dally M Halfback of the Year.

That’s says it all really! The reason we haven’t played finals football in so many years.

As a club we don’t do milestones very well ?

Was more tongue in cheek at @hobbo1.

I've already expressed my personal disappointment in him on the forum and commented a bit earlier that he needs to be more ruthless or selfish, as he doesn't exhibit the right level of mental toughness or tenacity at this point.
I actually expected big things from him yesterday but find it's troubling that people also don't consider how sometimes those factors - the team reshuffling - are more impactful on the team's cohesion and course of the game, than Luke's ability.
He may not be the regular create-something-out-of-nothing type of player but when a game plan isn't executed correctly the involvement of support players, team selection and even interchange usage also comes into the equation.
So yes he was woeful and deserves the criticism but all fault doesn't lie with him as to why everything went pear shaped for us.

And sorry if it seems I'm unloading on you...which I'm not, but think I've reached my daily limit of reading any Brooks bagging ?
I'm already looking forward to next week's turn around.

Edit: I'm also mainly talking about Doueihi (who he's trained with all offseason) being out and him having to work with Mbye - who himself hasn't played in the halves for years.
