OK, sure I’ll admit he’s not the best half in the comp, but he’s our half.

How dare Brooks let Moses crab 40 meters across field and leave our defensive line staggered ! That’s Brooks fault!

Are you honestly happy with what Brooks contributes to the team ?

Are you honestly happy with our goal line defense?

Clearly our biggest issue out of yesterday imo

Yes .....but many of these issues come back to the field position the Eels start in ...the lack of defensive mental and physical fatigue the Eels are dealing with

Even if we managed to turn one of those 3 or 4 chances we had into a line dropout ..it put pressure on the Eels to defend their line 2 of the other sets they are coming off their line

We threw basically nothing at them attack wise in those first few attacking sets ...and they have all this energy and effort they can throw at us

As I keep saying , ...but many don't understand ....is if we become a better attacking side it will actually help our defence ....and yes our defence is bad

Our defence isn't going to get much better ...sorry we are undermanned on the edges and the young fellas can't cope

But the attack can improve heaps ..and if we can get a few extra sets and get sides coming from far deeper in the half it will help our defence ...if you watch our defence it is at it's worse in our back 30 ...if a side only gets 1 tackle a set in our 30 instead of 3 it makes a huge difference and will relive the pressure ....and it also creates space for our defence to scramble ..something we were actually pretty good at last season .....

I'm not sure that our defence has caused him to cease having a running and passing game as well as an effective kicking game.

I’m the first to admit Brooks last plays are pathetic
Something that’s fallen off a cliff since his 2018 season which I just can’t understand

However that doesn’t excuse the soft line defence, this team needs resilience...not drop our bundle if something doesn’t go our way. It wasn’t once, twice or three times. it was five times they crossed in our opp 20 with relative ease. IMO that is a much bigger issue than an individual performance

Also hate the we’ve played 3 top sides excuse but for a fairly new spine it is definitely not ideal.

I’m not saying that some posters have completely misdiagnosed the real issue we have. Just saying we’re very quick to throw the noose around someone’s neck.
I listened to Cronk’s post game commentary which agrees with my thoughts that our two halves need to be consistent and reliable to set the example of the team, but further to that the entire spine needs to have a few games together.
But our real issue is our defence. In the first quarter it looked like everyone was afraid to make a mistake. They looked like teenagers having their first dance with their first girlfriend.
Why don’t we put our six guns back in the holsters and take a deep breathe?
Brooks is not our real problem amigos.

When Brooks plays well he runs into the line and engages defenders. eg Last weeks flat ball to Stefano for the try - beautiful to watch.

Trouble is he doesn't do it all game, and in some games not at all. this week he was play making 3-10m from the defensive line. That gives us nothing.

Good and even average playmakers play close to the line all the time. Sometimes they run, sometimes they kick, sometimes they pass, and sometimes they get smashed. It makes the defence make a play and if they are good enough and the team structures are right a line break is make.

Brooks needs to play closer to the defensive line every play - he has the ability, but seems to be not there mentally.

Of course not but it’s the lack of brains and the failure of our main playmaker to get the upper hand in gaining us repeat sets which then forces the plodders to do more work in defence

Then it all snowballs into an avalanche .
Everyone of Brooks’s halves partners has had to carry the load due to his incompetence but for some reason the mediocrity fan club think he’s just wonderful ...

And that my friend is why we haven’t made the 8 in donkeys years .

How many games did Flanagan play at the Roosters 18? 20 ?
He didn’t cut it so they offloaded him but nah ...
Not with Lukey boy ... he’s wonderful..
Let’s give him 150+ games and pray ..

Hobbo, you and I have had many a differing opinion on many things over the years, having said that,I honestly think once this spine get a couple of more games together then the team will open up the strong attacking game we know they can produce,Brooks natural game, running and kicking will come to the fore.Im level headed and have bagged the guy many times,I just think it will take a little bit longer now he has a good partner and fb with him..
My main concern is that Madge builds his structures and plans on defense, yet the players seem to still arm grab and are slow on moving up on the opposition...Maybe because some are still inexperienced they become hesitant when the crunch comes...just my thoughts mate...

Just let us know exactly what game we need to watch for it to click .....has to be a Top 8 side mind you

Everyone will watch us beat someone like Manly and go ...look Brooks is the Messiah

Short kicking game Is non-existent. Organisation is poor. 5th tackle options always a let down. After 150 games I think we have come to the end of the rd. No more excuses. It's his team. He owns it. Including the result. Jackson hastings for me..... cant happen soon enough...

Hap,Im not going to argue the point re Brooks...you have your opinion and its justified...In my opinion Brooks this year has a new halves partner with little 5/8 experience at this level,a fullback with huge potential but still green at this level and Jacob coming back from a very long stint in rehab.Once they all gel and understand whats needed, they will be awesome for us,they NEED the forwards to do their work consistently with go forward so LB and AD can do their WORK...

I actually agree with some of what you’re saying

Problem is who do we get that’s better atm? Hastings could put pressure on him but I’ve said my piece on him before and I actually don’t think he’d be any better

I really think Madge is regretting not throwing the bank at Burton

OK, sure I’ll admit he’s not the best half in the comp, but he’s our half.

How dare Brooks let Moses crab 40 meters across field and leave our defensive line staggered ! That’s Brooks fault!

Are you honestly happy with what Brooks contributes to the team ?

Are you honestly happy with our goal line defense?

Clearly our biggest issue out of yesterday imo

They won’t gel because Brooks doesn’t want the responsibility...gawd mate even blind Freddy can see that .

Make him captain so he has to answer to the bad games

Have a look at JTJ highlights, and a lot of his try's are through pure speed pushing through after a short kick onto the in goal, have not seen one yet from AD or Brooks, other Teams use this as an option, and Parra did.

It didn’t help the defence when for the first twenty or so minutes we had no repeat sets, just handed the ball over meekly.
