Clubs silence on brooks is deafening

What exactly do you expect the Club to be announcing regarding Luke Brooks?

I happen to know for a **FACT** that the Club will be making a **significant statement** regarding Luke Brooks at 4pm this afternoon. Remember you heard it here first!

He ain’t going nowhere...?

Team announcement

#9? Dropped?

don't think Liddell dropped but hoping simokin maybe gets bench spot

Liddle has been disappointing, his service is crap and slow, surely he doesn't get the 150 plus games to come good like Brooks has been given

Not if there is a suitable replacement within the club, thats the difference.

And the change is official, happy for Jake to get a shot, a pretty tough week to make your debut, good luck mate hope you kill it

How is that a statement ... named alongside a few others who don’t deserve to be playing NRL this week.

Looking forward to another week of our number one playmaker going to water when we need him the most.

Like many others i have no faith in this team while a guy like this is never held accountable for his lack of game management.

Attack and defence under IC was so much better. We need to look at how we play. Offloads need to be a feature of our game. Our players look scared to demonstrate flair which has always been part of WT DNA.

I think we lead the NRL in offloads

Does a dropped ball count as on offload

Handovers for sure !

Handovers are complete sets that’s why we’re up there ..
Context ..

A handover 5m out is better than a seven tackle set....context.

That’s where Brooks fails
...context .
If Kenny Bromwich can do it why can’t Luke ?

![brooksy.png](/assets/uploads/files/1618283257903-brooksy.png)

Repeat sets please

What are they?

That's where we repeat the same plays over and over and over again
5 hit ups and a bad kick

Isn’t Gould’s comments RE tigers are no good for brooks/brooks no good for tigers - just a play on words.

What’s the dam difference?????

The statement was made when they gave him a long term contract that showed belief in him. He has not lived up to it. It is that simple. Fans in previous statements have said ‘give him time’ or ‘he’s a role player’. He may be a role player. At 26 and 8 years with one club he should be in a position to be leading us. Especially considering the $$$ he is reputedly on. Faith and good money was shown. Unfortunately he hasn’t lived up to expectations. If Brooks is trying every game, his week in week out ability is not up to running a side. See the last kickoff from cowboys for evidence.

Not sure if anyone watched 100% footy but Phil Gould said the problem isn’t brooks, the tigers are the problem with brooks, he’s had 4-5 coaches in his career, close to 10 halves partners and different spine almost every other year with no forwards. How does he succeed with that? Phil Gould reckons he would fit in any top 6 side. 100% agree with that take.

Also believes there was absolutely nothing he could have done in the first half with our defence.

People need to stop blaming him. He’s leading in try assists for the comp. didn’t miss a tackle the other day and had only one error in the last 30 seconds. He is not the problem. Our defence and lack of line speed is killing us.

Put this into perspective
Brooks stats this year
Try assists brooks -7 reynolds -1
The only area reynolds beats brooks in is forced dropouts and that’s only by 3. But if you take into account the fact that brooks does all this in our weak team. It shows he’s much better than what people give him credit for.

Any one with half a brain knows Brooks is not soley the problem but supporters have a bandwagon mentality to winning and losing.
Brooks is a decent player in a pretty ordinary squad who to win games have to play to the best of their ability and too often they don't.
I am concerned for Maguire this week the noise is going to get louder and the responsibility for the position we are in will start to fall more squarely on his shoulders - it has to. You can't say we are better than this and then have continual poor performances. We cant win this week unless South's don't turn up - but if we get thumped it will be the coach who the fans will really start turning on and the media will be feeding off it.

Now Morris is out there , and him being a tigers old boy , as well as flanno , it could get pretty hot in that seat next week for Madge . I think his defensive strategies have to change , and I think the attack is missing a dummy half who will penetrate , causing the middles to have to congest , and tighten up .
Hopefully Simpkin will provide that , but he’s 19 , so I am concerned about whether his body can do it . I don’t want to ruin the kid .

Have a look at the stats on NRL.com and tell me again he’s not up to it , or apart from round 3-10 last year , he hasn’t been good. There’s a reason people in the know are backing him , because he’s clearly on that second tier of halves in the comp . The first tier being really Cleary , and used to be DCE. Then there’s 3-5 way traffic jam , that is while solely dependant on putting the right team around them .
You reckon Moses wouldn’t just have quit in half these games ? Or that George Williams’ style , wouldn’t have lead to even less points , as he is very dependant on the outside backs he has . Or even Mitchell Pearce . Have you watched the knights go around ? Watch his kicking game , it’s chip to the corner every time .
Many of us defend him , because you guys are just mob mentality bullies IMO . You’re looking for a scapegoat , and you heard your mate say it on here , or down the pub , and it’s “yea you’re right” , when the real issue is , as it’s always been , there’s no steel in our defence , and for some reason guys come here for a holiday . The only way we can fix that , is blood the kids , around guys who are putting in the hard yards . And actually watch Luke , instead of jumping up and down about the things you think he should do , and at the very least you will see a guy who busts his gut , every single week .
People talk about honouring tommy ! There’s a 7 in the team who does it week in week out .

I feel sorry for Brooks. I don’t think there is anything he can do within his ability to survive the negative media and discontent supporters/sponsors to survive remaining at the club. Madge has put his reputation and career on the line in showing his support for Brooks to lead this team into the finals this year, and regardless of how “solid” he has played, looks like he will be the first scapegoat. It’s looking like the club will throw the baby out with the bath water.

It is not scapegoating: there are many problems with the team. But halfback is arguably the most crucial position and Brooks has been so poor for so long. He is an obvious early choice to be moved on. If Kepoa was dropped is that scapegoating too?
And like you I also feel sorry for Brooks. It isn’t his fault that Madge keeps putting him in and exposing him to criticism every week.

How can IC get the best from Brooks but Maguire struggles? Sorry to say it but a new coach can be acquired for more easily than a quality half. Brooks is a good half.

No idea but this robotic style does not suit Brooks. If he leaves he will go well at another club and we can read about another WTs' disaster.

Agree. It appears as though the players are reacting negatively to something? If there’s nobody in the organisation capable of anything other than a top down approach, then they must hire a councillor to facilitate open , frank discussion, before it escalates to a bridge too far. I dont understand the difficulty in the entire organisation building on its common ground? It has to be something more sinister at play? Something like back office politics?
I wasn’t going to watch the rabbits game or any other game for that matter. It’s not because of the loss last week, I can handle losses, but because of the loss of desire to win by the players. I’ve been a winner all my life, I will never learn to tolerate mediocrity regardless of the reason.
